I bought this drive for my Dell XPS laptop in Feb and loved it.Until it failed to boot in May. It was completely dead and would not be recognized in any computer. NCIX told me to contact OCZ for an RMA. I did, and a new drive arrived in June. The new drive lasted a total of 3 weeks. I'm now in the process of RMA'ing it for another drive that may or may not last. Apparently there may be issues if you use sleep or hibernate. Check the OCZ forums for more info on this. I bought this for my laptop, and was not at all disappointed with the results of upgrading to an SSD. Booting happens in about 12 seconds, applications load as fast as I can click on them, and everything is all around snappier.I didn't notice any issues at all with the Vertex 2 - it provided a smooth experience right out of the box. Granted, I did make sure to follow all the best practice with SSDs to ensure that performance wouldn't degrade over time.The main problems are of course the cost versus capacity - in my case my laptop had a second hard drive bay, so I was able to put large files on a traditional drive, but despite this, I was surprised with how fast that 120GB fills up. You have to strictly manage your disk usage.Of course, this is applicable to any SSD, but the performance/price ratio for the Vertex 2 is outstanding, and I have no issues to report.

Blazing fast, but takes a few weeks for the drive and your OS to "condition" before it reaches optimal speed. At first I was under-impressed, but now that everything is cached properly based on my usage habits, it's working pretty awesome.Now I'm waiting for Vertex 3's to drop  more in price so that I can upgrade and then put the Vertex 2 in my laptop.Lots of other people have gotten lemons from OCZ, but I've always had good luck.

Brought it for my first built computer, run very good for the main system make my windows 7 run 7.7 score for the storage, but do use the normal hard drive for data or other system. run pretty, but the price keep drop  make me think to buy another one to RAID

Had this SSD for a few weeks to run as my dedicated Windows 7 HD. I run linux as a primary OS but figured I'd use this under Windows for a couple games to see how it runs...Loading times have been cut in half and Win7 boot times are pretty quick. No need to hibernate and it boots the machine fresh in a matter of moments.Just make sure you enable AHCI when you install/configure. Win7 the first time around failed to recognize it as an SSD until I have to rebuild with AHCI enabled.

Speed. Cost. Simple to install. Cost/GB compared to HDD I bought a laptop with a Sandy Bridge i7 and it came with a 7200rpm HDD. It took 1 min 30 seconds to startup to desktop. When I put in this OCZ Vertex two SSD the time went down to about 25 seconds! Really pleased with the performance.

Drive is nice enough, Hate the mounting bracket that it came with however. Currently kind of hanging in my system. Looking forward to a new case with a SSD mount. No idea on performance as my motherboard crashed (faulty hard drive controler)

I bought this OCZ on sale as the main system drive for my new system. There is a large noticeable difference between a spindle hard drive and an SSD in terms of boot and application performance. It is one of the best upgrades you can do in terms of real-world performance. I new about OCZ's questionable tactics going in but I thought the sale price was worth it regardless. Overall, even with the new Vertex 3, this is still a very fast drive at a decent price.

Bought this to use as the main drive in a flight simulator for my uncle. So far everything has been running perfectly. Quick boot, and the game seems to load very quickly. Not a cheap addition but definitely worthwhile for many users.

Not for Budget Systems first off. Although it is rapidly going that way. Fast boots with Windows 7, system tray icons just fly in the system tray on boot up, as all 4 cores of my AMD 955 max out to keep up.I upgraded form two WD 640GB HDs in RAID 0 and the performance difference is night and day. The two magnetic drives aren't even in the same ballpark as a single Vertex 2 SSD.If it is you intention to add this sweet piece of hardware to your budget build, grab a Magnetic Dive instead and spend your money on a larger Video Card or Processor. It has not effect on your game onces it has loaded up and you are playing. I larger Video Card or CPU on the other hand makes all the difference.I won't look back from this perchase I love having this hard drive.

My speed performance overall is fantastic, My entire system is faster not just with boot times, but general everyday use. Everything has sped up. I love my SSD. The price is a little high, but I use it for my OS and only a handfull of programs, the rest is on my additional drives, so 120 Gigs is enouph, but the price per gig considering the cost of a 2 TB drive these days is a hard comparison - ergo the performance boost is where the cost per quality comes into effect.

I'm very happy with the speed increase this ssd has given my pc. Boot up time is extremely fast, and applications like chrome, itunes, and adobe cs5 apps load almost instantly. Everything feels so much snappier than before. Unfortunately, although my formatted capacity shows at 111gb, the speeds i get in benchmarks correspond with the reports of the slower 25nm drives, specifically in 4k random writes, and to a certain degree random reads as well. Still totally worth it, but it seems OCZ has fixed the capacity issue in firmware, although the performance is still lower.

I do heavy graphic design work, files are often 3GB+, so disk speed is the number one bottleneck on my machine. I have a 2009 Macbook Pro with a Core 2 Duo processor, which is fast enough for everything but the latest games. I had first installed a Momentus XT drive to see if that would speed up my work, it did a bit, but not a great deal with large files (which makes sense based on the way it's technology is designed to work), so then I splurged and installed this drive and I am amazed at the speed difference. Now when I work, I have almost ZERO hang time waiting for background saves, I see files saved in at least 1/8~1/4 the time they were before. This is a great investment for anyone who does heavy design work, I can only imagine the speed increase for video would be just as good. As 120GB was not enough space, I took out the optical drive on my Macbook Pro and installed a OWC Laptop Optical Bay 2.5" drive mount kit and installed my 500GB momentus XT in here. Now when I keep all my current work on the SSD and move things to the 500GB momentus XT when I am not working on them. I also played with a friends brand spanking new Macbook Pro 2011, with the pimped out video card and all, but with a HDD, and it was slower than my 2009 with the SSD, so that goes to show you how great of an investment an SSD is.

I ordered this drive last week and got it last night and installed it without a problem. I ran a HD Tune test to test the speeds and averaged 174 read, which is alot faster than my old Hd which only got 54, so i was pretty happy.My only issue came when i wanted to install the newest firmware. It wouldnt let me install it because the SSD was my primary drive, not a big deal if you have 2 boot drives but i had to re install my old boot drive, boot from that then run the flash. Not a big issue but still annoying.Other than that it seems like a great product for the money! im happy

Someone mentioned that these drives have less capacity than the previous version, and it seems to be true. I only get 107gb instead of the 111 I expected. Given the price per GB we pay for SSDs, it would be nice to have every last megabyte. Not a big issue though.Win7 loads slower with this than with my 80GB Intel SSD so I'm a bit disappointed, although it could be due to human error. Satisfied though!

The performance numbers overstate what this drive is capable of. Still much faster than HDD though.I feel like I've left hanging on OCZ RMA where they were replacing these drives that don't meet IDEMA capacity. 3 business days since my last reply to them with my RMA information. When it works, it works fast (it's a real pleasure).However the first one I got failed within 2 weeks. I had to pay Fedex for shipping back and they cost a fortune!

I knew about OCZ's switch to 25nm. So i knew what to expect with this ssd. Going from hhd to this though i feel like i can never go back to hhd. This boots windows with everything loaded in 20 seconds. Honestly, even if its slower than previous version, ssd virgins should consider this, specially if its on sale.

This is a nice SSD for the price, not the latest generation but definitively fast for most applications, eventhough the write speed is more around 70MB/s than claimed 280 (OCZ uses ATTO benchmark which is a bit litigious). It is small and light but this creates problem to fix it in HDD-optimized cases such as P180, P182 and P183 (before V3). Had to use a washer to fix it.

This is the first SSD I ever own and it doesn't disappoint.After BIOS it takes about 9-10sec to boot into windows. Also reduce load time in games like Starcraft 2. So overall i'm fairly impressed with this. Can't wait until SSD became mainstream and become cheap.

If you are willing to pay the bucks for an SSD drive, than the OCZ Vertex 2 line is a great choice.It was easy to install and use.I installed windows 7 on it, as well as most of my software.
