I will tell you it was hard for me to take a bet on seagate again after replacing and RMA'ing over and over literally Hundreds of seagate .11 era drives h work. But the price couldn't be approached on this drive and i took a gamble on it as a personal media storage for my parents place. so far so good a few weeks in it runs fairly cool and quiet here is hoping it keeps that up. so far 4 stars -1 for me having to worry about it being a seagate.Its funny because pre maxtor acquisition that's all we would use at our shop. |

I've updated the firmware to CC29. The model is "ST2000DM001" and the part name is "1CH164" [Barracuda (GrenadaBP)]. Be aware there is different firmware for different part names even if the model is the same.The firmware CC4H is NOT for this HDD. |

Bought this when it was on sale. Don't know when I will be able to fill 2 TB, but still a great price for the capacity. The only issue I had with this is on some random days the computer would freeze for 2 sec just to access the hard drive, as I use my SSD for my OS. |

Used this in a NAS which is not heavily used and mainly is on standby so a couple of these drives fit the bill for reasonable $ per GB. The drive performance easily keeps up with the budget NAS network interface. I was using Hitachi ( now Toshiba) drives for a long time but have had good luck with Seagate like I had with Hitachi. |

I got a pair of these at $80 each for a RAID 1 configuration. It wasn't a bad price for them, given how prices for hard drives are these days. These are not from the high performance series but has enough storage space for media and backups, while the OS and programs are installed on a Samsung 840 120GB SSD.I say these are still expensive because in December of 2011, pre-Thailand flood, 2 TB WD Caviar Green drives were available for $78! |

I bought this drive approximately nine months ago. It worked for about 3 months before it crapped out on me with S.M.A.R.T. errors along with bad sectors. I RMA'd it and the one they sent back to me lasted about 1 month before the exact same problems started to occur. I just sent in a new RMA request and hopefully the third time really is the charm.This is actually a pretty decent drive when it actually works.Would rate lower; cant find my order number though. |

I really recommend this HDD for anyone who tries to build a new system. It has all the features such as; 7200rpm, 64MB Cache, 2TB which is enough for most of people. And it is Seagate. And these drives are faster than I expected.
