Got the drive on sale for $100. It worked perfectly and is nice and fast. Not SSD fast, but I wasn't expecting it to be. Good value. Nothing fancy about it. Just a plain, vanilla HD that worked well. |

I bought 2 of these to use in a USB 3.0 enclosure with fans. I have owned dozens of Seagate drives over the last 30 years and have had relatively few problems. Keep a hard drive well ventilated and it will last a long time. |

My first drive failed within 2 days of use. I narrowed the problem to the fact it woke too slow from its built in power-saving mode. Thankfully NCIX replaced my defective drive and the new drive has been working fine for a couple weeks now. However, I am a bit worried with the life I can expect to get out of this drive as researching into my first drive's problem exposed many other issues with this drive. This is my first time purchasing a seagate product and it will probably be my last. In the past I have owned 3 Western Digital drives and one drive is still spinning after 7 years, one failed after 3 years and the other is spinning after 3 years. While this drive is cheaper and performs better the 'WD black' drive I bought 3 years ago, its reliability leaves something to be desired. |

Sadly, i got a problem with my first one (really loud "chair cracking" noise, every 30sec to 5min) so i got it replaced.New one comes in. Seems fine at first but then the Same noise started.A 1 year old HDD, ill deal with it, but a new one out of the box... i guess i wasnt lucky, and its probably really rare to have 2 in a row with a problem.Outside that problem, it was running fine. |

All my HDDs had been Hitachi 7200rpm, but since the price hike for all HDDs, I was waiting, and it is only recently the price has come down, and NCIX once offerred a very good price. I bought two of them, and they seem to function just as good as Hitachi. Since Hitachi HDD's are not so easily available, I might change to Seagate, but given the Seagate's terrible technical support, I am still wondering whether WD, the new owner of Hitachi HDD division, would make Hitachi HDDs more readily available and at a good price. |

Great Hard drive, does what it supposed to do. what more can you expect from it. I use it in QNAP TS-112 NAS drive and they're a nice and jolly couple now. it's been working great and trouble free. get it when it' on sale and it's an even better hard drive :) |

I put two of these in a RAID 1 on a new build as the non-OS data drive. The drives are operating well with very little noise or problems. I recently had to replace the PSU in my system (OCZ Elitexstream OCZ800EXS - POS died after 34 days) and when disconnecting the power cable I noticed that the hooked part of the connection broke off. Not a big deal as it connected to the new PSU fine and is running. I happy with the drives. |

Picked this up for an old system and it seems to be working just fine(and much faster then its old drive). I do hope the quality is decent since they only have a 1 year warranty on this drive.As with any drive, backups are still important as I have seem all drive makers have drives fail or go bad(but very rare for modern drives).4 Stars as long as it lasts. |

I love this drive, averages 150megs/second on my X-79 SATA3 as my games HD. Feels only slightly faster than my old Green Seagate 5900rpm 2TB, but then again it got 110megs/sec... Its about the same speed as the newest WD Black 1TB for the same price, a no brainer to me. Altho I only have 500GB on it.... I'm not quite sure why Seagate has started only giving 1 year warranties tho? Altho in my 30 years of being into computers, have yet to do warranty on any HD... But then again my first computer only had a 360K floppy drive... and 16K memory...
