I own two of these drives, purchased 2 years apart. Had installed both of them in my laptop when purchased brand new. The drive works well. It isn't the quietest or the fastest drive out there. However, the performance to price ratio is quite good when you can get this drive on sale.

simple to set up into a ps3 will take 4 mins tops and only took a screwdriver.lots of space. (people who complain about losing space do not know about computers all HDDs do this when very first formatting you never get the space labeled) not a single issue ps3 fans come on now when playing for a extended period compared to when i had the 60gig factory drive in but it does not have an effect on use .

Works fantastic! No issues! None Bought this to replace original PS3 tricky drive, virtually great match from original except 6 occasions larger. Effortlessly swapped out and was exact identical size as original. Hardware install took a total of a couple minutes. As I mentioned yesterday, I would post once more when I received my drive , Nicely it's 24 hours later and I have my drive installed, Up and running. Windows installed flawlessly. I could not think that the drive arrived at my household within 24 hours. (WOW!!!). My computer system now has considerably far more space. I couln't ask for a much better drive. SEAGATE all the way.... Completely none Kudos to Newegg for such rapid delivery, And I did not spend any a lot more than the normal shipping price tag.

I got this drive when it was on sale. Cheaper than what is listed as of writing this. HDD went smoothly with PS3 upgrade from an 80. I bought many Seagate brand, and haven't had a single that failed on me but. Not that I know of. Formatted as 465GB which is by standards, so it's not truly 500GB. Its nevertheless a lot of space for my gaming requirements. I will purchase additional for my laptop. General happy with the product.

OK whilst it was working Died with in three months I bought this drive as an upgrade for the 250 GB OEM drive in my Apple MacBook Pro (C2D, two.6 MHz, "Early 2007"). I did the swap myself. Drive worked for about 3 months. One particular morning I booted up my Mac and saw the dreaded "Circle with a Horizontal Line" (Like the European "Do Not Enter" sign). Drive would not boot! I was able to boot from an external drive and clone the bad drive to a partition on an external drive, (CarbonCopyCloner). CCC reported that there had been "Input/Output" errors which can be suggestive of a failing drive. I then ran TechTool Pro's S.M.A.R.T. diagnostic which reported a number of errors which includes "Drive Power Cycle Count" failure and "Raw Read Errors" and "Seek Errors" errors. Drive was also operating incredibly hot with TTP displaying "Temperature Changes" errors.

Quiet, Cost, Capacity None Excellent drive for PS3 upgrade. Lots of space for downloading games and storing media. Fits perfectly and effortlessly into the 9mm tough drive slot on the PS3. Very recommend to anyone wanting to increase tricky drive capacity in their PS3.

Wasn't DOA Failed soon after 30 days. No Newegg RMA so have to deal with Seagate. Have had other Seagate drives with early failures. No far more Seagate!

I purchased this when it was on sale for ษ beneath the normal price. Even though I generally favor WD, At the value I was receiving it was only about 14 cents a gig. The product installed just fine and I had no difficulty formatting a new partition onto the blank drive. I have had it in my personal computer for practically a month and have not had a single challenge. None at the time of writing. This has changed my perspective of Seagate a tiny and will not hesitate to buy from this manufacturer once again.

-silent-inexpensive -It came unpartitioned (duh). The only cause i mention this is since i spent a lot of time trying to figure out why my Pc recognized it as an external USB device but would not open the drive for file transfer. I should have realized this. But lo! i learned a new skill! how to format an external drive! -they keep creating this cheaper!? jeez!-i'm working with this as an external in a Rosewill case, and the technique operates swimmingly.

500GB of storage. Access noise. I got this drive on sale + cost-free shipping, and I'm somewhat disappointed. It appears slower than the 250GB drive that it replaced; and it's very noisy. It sounds like a 10 Year old challenging drive that could fail at any moment.

I bought this drive to place into a new laptop which only had a 250g drive in it. Partitioned it so that Win7 would have plenty of 'elbow area', and have much more space for my media files. Drive installed and partitioned just fine, but.... Shortly after installing, I started hearing occassional clicks, and yesterday although undertaking a drive verify on it, it truly got 'stuck', and only a hard reset would repair it. The smart test read stated 117 read errors. I've had mixed achievement with Seagate drives. I have a Freeagent Go driveƒ.five external), that has been incredibly dependable for the final two years now. I also had a 1 tb Freeagent desktop external that fell off a three inch shelf and became a paperweight.I nevertheless have the original drive which came with the personal computer(which was also a Seagate, and worked well), so it is nevertheless on standby in case this 1 fails.

replaced 80gb laptop hd with this, 500gb gives my 3yr old HP laptop its final upgrade, i can continue to use photoshop with the laptop (camera files are large) and maintain playing Planet of Warcraft with it. the recovery disks for the laptop worked flawlessly with the new hd. the laptop appears to hang occasionally with WoW, i'm not sure if it is the HD or just the laptop displaying its age, i didn't notice the problem ahead of the HD, but who knows. i wish i could uncover a inexpensive enclosure for the 80gb hd that came out of the laptop.

At 1st i believed it was a negative purchase due to all the evaluations i had read about it slowing down individuals's ps3's but so far almost everything is operating perfectly! i know about the 1024MB for computers vs 1000MB for HDD Producers but nevertheless, it only gives 465GB max, according to my calculations it need to have bee 476GB. then soon after the entire formatting and w.e. else i only had 406GB out of 465GB, wth! the ps3 OS and system files take up that considerably? so all in all it is a good drive, but for the ps3 you shed about 94GB off the back, 406GB is lots adequate for me even though.

I purchased this for my Netbook 1000HD , and it was quite straightforward to install. I put it in a Kingwin EZ-Dock, cloned my stock HDD by booting from the Acronis Property disk and operating the clone utility to copy my Windows 7 installation. Installing was a breeze, I just took the old 1 out and plopped this 1 in. Windows 7 came proper up and I ran checkdisk just to be confident it was fine. It shows 465MB of free area, and seems a lot quicker than the drive that I replaced. I haven't had it long, but so far no heat/noise troubles. I recommend it. Doesn't wash my dishes or mow my lawn.

Upgrading PS3 from 60GB to 500. Ordered on 1ቪ with normal shipping, on doorstep 1ቫ. Took approx 10 min to install. Turned on PS3, went to system information, 415GB out of 475 (Before transferring any personal media). No issues whatsoever. None We have 2 toddlers which equals loads of pics & property vids, a beefed up PS3 is a wonderful way to backup and watch on 50". Also bought a Transcend 2.5 SATA enclosure @ ฟ to place original PS3 hard drive in, extremely recommend it.
