I have just ordered this drive nowadays, As I wanted to upgrade my tough drive. I'm looking foward to installing this new drive. I chose Seagate because I've never had a poor seagate. I have 2 laptops, a netbook, and a desktop, All have Seagate drives. All of my externals are Seagate as nicely. Not applicable as of yet. I have high hopes for this drive as I've never had a poor Seagate. When I install the drive I will post once again. I'm also fully satisfied with Newegg's service and delivery is typically as specified. No Complaints here.

size/GB second complete failure in a row to work: DO NOT Acquire. I sent for yet another replacement: my e-mail apparently did not get by means of and I am suck with junk: tried three times to load XP and even Win 7 Pro: it suffered a fatal error. this is the SECOND drive from Newegg in a row [the seagate] and is the last from both. as a full-time RN Nursing student i necessary a dependable system for notebook and assignments, now it is worthless, i am out ๖.00+, no recourse but to state truth. CAVEAT EMPTOR: "buyer beware"!!!

Awesome boost in onboard storage for a Dell Latitude D520.Uncomplicated installation/swap out.Fast to arrive from Newegg in durable packing.I now have a spare 60GB external drive in Apricorn's USB EZ upgrade housing. None so far. Actual usable space on the drive was about 460GB after formatting three partitions. I knew the distinction between Advertising Gigabytes and Accessible Gigabytes, so no shock. I bought the drive with Apricorn's EZ-UP-UNIVERSAL external drive housing and imaging software. The new drive went into the EZ housing and was attached to a USB port on the laptop. I booted off of the EZ CD and had an effortless time copying ALL of my data and programs to this new drive in a bootable image. I swapped the new and old drives in the Dell and rebooted. There was no difference with the new drive, except I had gained virtually eight times the disk space. The laptop doubles as an occasional media server for Netflix and downloads. This new drive space will extend the life of this laptop (previously updated to 2GB of ram) for the forseeable future.

I employed this to upgrade my PS3 slim. Excellent difficult drive gave me a lot far more memory. Uncomplicated swap fit like a glove. PS3 only reconized 439G릌G but assume its since of other stuff necessary to run the drive. Slightly more noisy than the toshiba drive that was pulled out but still fairly very. Overall good drive I would definately recomend.

-Not to loud and low vibration-Transfer speed not too bad for 5400rpm-Low-cost ~โ for 500 gb (~财 about a year ago) -Not durable-Read/write errors -3 out of 4 drives had clicks inside 2 weeks-Seagate accepts some for RMA and others seems to not show up at all as a retail drive. I have usually been a WD guy and gave seagate a shot. I'm not sure why seagate drives give up so easy. These drives don't seem to last additional than couple of months. I bought this drive over a year ago I would say if you are seeking for a drive to get the job completed this will do it just don't anticipate to be durable.

I opted for the 5400.6 over the 7200.4 or WD Black because I wanted to make sure the drive was quiet, would work fine off one USB port in an enclosure, and wouldn't decrease my laptop's battery life. I haven't bothered to test the latter, but the drive satisfies the first two criteria nicely. I don't know why some reviewers are saying this drive is loud, it certainly is not. This is the drive in Apple's latest MacBook Pros, an indication of it's quality IMHO. I do wish it had a larger cache; 8 MB seems unacceptable these days.

Excellent drive when on sale. Got it for $59 to replace a MacBook Pro drive and I'm very happy with the purchase. Good bang for the buck.

If your looking for 2.5 sata drive the Seagate Momentus 5400.6 500GB 5400RPM 8MB Cache 2.5IN Notebook Hard Drive for the Popcorn Hour C-200. Since the C-200 can be a bit picky on what drive you put in it . This is the drive for you . Hands down.

I got it to use it as an external HDD in a USB2 / eSata enclosure. I had to find a good and cheap HDD to use it on mac (school) and pc (home) and it suits the role perfectly. Maybe formatting a 500gb HDD in fat32 can seems stupid but if you already have an enclosure and don't want to spend 100$ for a mac/pc ready HDD, consider this option.

This is currently being used an external hard drive for storage. It hits about 27.5 MB/s on USB 2.0 and 63.8 MB/s on USB 3.0 and SATA in terms of average read (HDTune), which is respectable. I bought it at $59.99, which is about what you'd expect for a 500GB 2.5" hard drive. It's very quiet (near silent). Very little airborne noise and seek noise.

Got this on sales for 50$ a very good value HD. I used it as external drive. just plug in USB and can use it without external power. Perfect.

Its only a 5400rpm drive but it only cost me 55 dollars. Not bad considering this is a 500gb drive.Overall it was a good replacment to my failing 80 gig WD notebook drive. I definetly recommand this little drive for notbook or external drive purposes.

It is much faster than an older Hitachi 7200RPM drive, but the idle noise is far more noticeable. According to the product data sheets, the 7200 RPM Momentus, is quieter, however power consumption is almost double.I would recommend this drive for an external enclosure thanks to low power, but the noise is not to my liking. A SSD is really what I should have got!

I bought a Dell laptop with this hard drive in it just before school started last year, and just a couple days ago it failed. It always had this weird clicking issue where you hear it click repeatedly and everything freezes on the computer, which would usually go back to normal. Sometimes it'd keep clicking after everything unfreezes too. But the last time it clicked, was very loud and everything froze for 15mins till i shut it off. It wouldn't boot back up. Replacing this with the Western Digital Scorpio Black 500Gb.. guaranteed to last me much longer than this piece of garbage. Maybe it was just a dud, but it leaves a bad impression on Seagate in my mind either way.(Can't put 1 star so I'm going with 3)

Great HDD, really cheap upgrade for your laptop. If you current HDD is really full, you may notice that your computers performance takes a hit; upgrading should help. Seagate (like every other big HDD manufacturer) has an simple return policy.

I plan on buying this HD and shipping it overseas to me...(I have 3 Barracuda drives, with my life on them) but fakers posting the same 5 star review(except for 2 words)over and over doesn't inspire confidence. No 2 minds are that alike....i am gonna buy it for the Discwizard cloning feature anyway(BEST THING EVER)....but you're not helping...you're not doing your job well. Be original, or quit... Hooray for packing peanuts!!! Please use a lot in mine please...

using it inside the PBO i bought in the same order. works great in its current application as a storage device. have yet to run into any disk errors, and only runs mildly warm. also using the same drive in my laptop, decent for everyday use, but i guess its a bit slow for high performance machines/laptops, best for storage purposes, good everyday normal usage.

Currently running Spinrite (10 hr and counting) to see if I can recover my data.We'll see how Seagate's warranty return is.Purchasing a Western Digital Scorpio Blue instead.

Works great with my 2GHz mid-2007 Core 2 Duo Macbook, replacing my 80GB HD. It's quiet and it works nicely, no problems in the month I had it. At $80 how can I go wrong?

So far the HDD is all good, I know the critics were saying not to get it for the PS3 but so far everything seems good (cross my fingers) except that sometimes when I boot my PS3 it says that cannot find Hard Drive and I think it froze only twice while I was playing.
