So far i have just had the drive in my MacBook for about 24 hours, coping a huge quantity of information to it now. Old drive was 5400rpm can't tell a large diverse as of yet but i havnt opened up any of my Adobe programs however to see what sort of load times i occur. over all really pleased therefore far. None to speak of yet... Often been a lot more of a WD fan but for the price tag, speed, and size i thought i would give this drive a try. Hopefully it will met all of my requirements nicely

Noticeable increase in technique speed compared to the 5400rpm Seagate 250Gb in the Sony laptop. Doesn't appear to raise the heat any quantity. Only a very slight improve to vibration... if you appear for it. None so far..... Would have bought on NewEgg but nearby dealer had it for the same cost.

Low-cost drive for what they are. They appear to do the job. Stupid newegg limit of 5. I purchased eight of these to place into an IBM x3650 server, replacing all 146 gig SAS drives. They were noticeably slower, but that was to be expected. There had been minor firmware difficulties utilizing them on the adaptec SAS controller. The controller would hang on a soft reboot, so you'd have to do a cold reboot to make it function. Of course this is a completely unsupported resolution from IBM but hey, we're on a price range for this non-mission crucial endeavor. Hopefully a person will locate this info valuable.

This is a rapidly performing drive and it is low-cost. It is very and it doesn't heat up also substantially. This factor is garbage. I had it for much less than a week when it died. I did an RMA and the subsequent a single died about 6 months later. I did another RMA and got about one more 6 months. I am not even bothering to RMA this yet again. I have usually been a large fan of seagate. They are going to have to make some spectacular alterations prior to I get an additional one particular of their drives.

I haven't had it extended, but I've no no problems with it. It is a lot more rapidly than the 5400 RPM drive it replaced. It appears to run cool and quiet and no vibrations or other troubles. Time will tell as with all difficult drives, but I'm definitely pleased with this drive so far. None.

Speed was a bit above typical for similar 7200rpm 500GB drives, latency wasn't anything at all to complain about and didn't raise temps any. -Lasted for 2 weeks just before it began clicking. Rapidly imaged another hard drive and let this a single die out over the next two days. RMAing it now for a replacement.-Bit noisier than the 160GB 7200rpm momentus that it replaced, and a bit noiser than the 320GB 7200rpm W3st3rn D!g!tal-Seagate RMA kinda sucks. They count on you to package it Quite specifically and spend to send it to them, so you have the expense of the special supplies and shipping. Obtaining your way through Seagate's website for an RMA is almost impossible as effectively. The rate of failure that these seem to have get 1 egg off, and the RMA method appears to be purposefully so significantly of a hassel that you don't send the drive back, so that deserves 2 eggs off on-best of the other one.

This HDD operates perfectly with my thinkpad X61s. 7200rpm truly tends to make things different. Quiet, stable and acceptable price. This item deserves five eggs rating. None so far. Whilst choosing a notebook HDD, you got to take the balance on performance, capacity and price tag. It's not simple to come across a two.5'' HDD with 7200rpm, 16M and equal or more than 500G capacity. Even believed this price tag could obtain a 640G at 5400rpm, I placed my order without having much hesitate. For an internal notebook HDD, I believe performance is a lot more critical than capacity. Right after you try 7200rpm, you would never look back for 5400rpm.One particular far more factor, I like Newegg's awesome shipping speed! I got the item much less than 20 hours soon after I placed my order!

Operates well. Runs quiet. Compatible with my PS3 (reason I bought it). None however; hopefully. If you're planning on using this in your PS3 be prepared that you won't be able to use it's whole potential capacity. The formatting of the drive is going to shave off about 50 GB's. Oh well...

Slick design. Somewhat quickly download rate. I had about 60 gb of information in my tough drive and it took about 1ᚷ min to finish.Looks sturdy, if you don't intend to swap challenging drives constantly. Screw it once and forget it.for the money I paid, I recommend it. LIke absolutely everyone says the screw holes don't line up. That will be the initially and pretty considerably the only prob you'll face. I had 1 additional though; I didn't have my Y cable. Somehow the worker who place it together didn't believe I required 1.

Fast and plenty of storage space. Made really a noticeable difference compared to my 5400 rpm drive that this one replaced in my laptop. The value was great too (got it on sale). Louder and hotter than my 5400rpm drive. This was expected, nonetheless. My old drive was practically silent, though this one particular is somewhat audible (still very acceptable). It runs considerably hotter than my old drive although. It's not almost hot enough to burn my lap or anything, but it's something to think about. Compared to a WD Blue, it's a bit louder and hotter, but that's a smaller cost to spend for the efficiency difference.

Did a complete surface scan on it soon as it arrived. No errors. Wise checked out fine. Entirely blows away the Fujitsu 5400rpm drive it's replacing. Benched virtually as speedy as a desktop 7200rpm drive. Virtual machines open in a quarter of the time they used to. Quieter than the old drive. Temps are about the identical, and battery life hasn't been affected. N/A Operating in an HP 8510p enterprise notebook in AHCI mode.

Substantial capacity and quicker IO compared to 5400 rpm drives.Less expensive when it was on sale. vibration and a bit noisy for laptop or netbook. Was getting this to replace a smaller 5400 rpm drive inside my netbook. But the drive making a noise felt like the fan noise. Put the original WD drive back, which was quiet.Installed this drive into a Patriot Box office media player, a ideal match since there is already a fan inside that BO media player.

It works. I put this bad boy in my 13in. macbook pro. found out that the 7200rpm tends to make the plates spin so rapidly that the entire laptop lightly vibrates. also, the sound of the plates spinning even when idle is decently loud.along with the annoyances of having a more quickly, and therefor louder, hdd, i assumed there would be a comparable speed raise, due to the fact of the 7200rpm and a 16mg. cache more than the 5400 and 8mg stock hdd. There isn't. If anything I'm noticing longer study instances. nothing at all extreme but adequate to be annoying. I read quite a few reviews soon after obtain, none of them adequately mentioned the macbook vibration/noise or the lack of a speed enhance that i'm experiencing. There had been rather a handful of that complained about a clicking-read noise that i haven't had a challenge with although.I'm going to return the hdd and acquire a 5400rpm once more since i don't take pleasure in a noisy, vibrating laptop.

Quickly, trustworthy so far. The drive makes an intermittent high-pitched whirring noise that will slowly drive you insane. This is the only challenge I have encountered, but it is so annoying as to warrant the deduction of two stars from an otherwise fast hdd. This is the drive that came in my Sony VAIO F Series laptop and I have to say that I am disappointed. The drive seems quiet adequate at initially glance, but right after listening for a couple of minutes, it becomes apparent that there is an intermittent high-pitched whirring noise as the hdd is reading or writing (and yes, I'm aware that past models of this personal computer has a noise matter with the microphone--that's not what this is). In the past, I have avoided acquiring Seagate and was sincerely disappointed in Sony for selling me this. I will be replacing the drive within the next handful of weeks due to the fact there is no likelihood I can reside with the noise. Maybe with a Western Digital Scorpio Black.
