Bought this to replace an older smaller 5400 rpm drive, works like a charm. Less noise than my older drive also. Have no complaints thus far. Never had a failed seagte HDD wish i could say the same for another name brand drive.

I bought this hard drive along with a NexStar 2.5 enclosure and it works very well. The drive is responsive, fast and quiet. No issues with any noisy clicking noise so far, my guess is that Seagate has already adressed this issue, since most negative reviews date from 2009 and early 2010.One important thing to remember when placing this drive inside an enclosure: although some experts recommend to install a jumper on the drive to limit its' transfer rate to 1.5 from 3.0 (feature used primarily for older systems), it doesn't seem to work well inside an external enclosure. So, after trying it, I recommend to leave the drive "as is" when placing inside an external enclosure, as it seems to works better that way.

Bought this to upgrade my PS3 drive. The upgrade was simple and easy to do. The PS3 detected the drive right away and had no issues. The speed was quicker than the original drive which was at 5400rpm. Very happy with the upgrade, especially with the additional space.

seems like a good hd, got it for backup storage, but it can be used as a normal drive for you pc or notebook, its very quiet and big storage, cant really go wrong with seagate drives

This hard drive is really good, I've buyed it to replace my 80GB PS3 hard drive and since then I have almost infinite space to store my games on my PS3. It's well built as usual and seagate warranty support is really good since I had to deal with them a year ago for a desktop hard drive.

One of the better 7200rpm 2.5 in HDD. Replace a Hitachi 320GB 7200rpm and works great. I didn't do a benchmark so not sure if there is a significant performance difference between the two but the Seagate has good review.

I purchased this 2.5" hard drive to install into a Macbook Pro 13". Installation took no more than 10 minutes and before I knew it, I was installing Mac OSX in a jiffy. The boot time is noticably faster with this new 7200RPM in contrast to the previous 5400RPM (Hitachi) hard drive that the MacBook Pro had come with. I could venture a guess that the boot time is roughly twice as fast as before the upgrade. I have always used Seagate drives and have yet to have one fail. I hope this drive maintains it's quality and reliability for years to come.

Bought it to replace my 3.5 hdd as second storage, along with an SSD. I have seen complaints about the drive being noisy, The first thing I did was to update  the orinigal firmware with a DELL one and never heard of any noise. Overall, it is a pretty decent drive.

I use it to upgrade my macbook pro. The old drive is 120GB 5400RPM. Through the test, new hard disk capability is double than the old one. And this price is better than Apple store.

I finally replaced my Macbook 3,1 hard drive with this little gem. I am very happy with this drive. Boot time has decreased by a couple of seconds, and post-sleep activation is almost instant! Definitely a steal on sale.The only negative thing I can say about it is that it runs hotter than my old hard drive. With the old drive installed there was no heat variation, but with this drive the left side is always warmer than the right. This doesn't really cause any issues, it's just an odd imbalance to work with.

I have purchased this drive to use it as a 2nd storage drive on my laptop and it works fine. 500GB is certainly big enough to store everything but low price comes with a performance hit.

Bought this drive to replace smaller drive in new Toshiba laptop. It is quick, quiet and no problems. I was so impressed, I bought another one for backup. Put it in an external enclouser and it runs just like the other one. I would recommend this drive to anyone.

There is a 50% boost in performance and this is clearly noticeable while using. Vista boots faster, programs open faster, rar files extract faster etc. etc.

I have always used seagate for my rigs and they have never failed me, hence i buy from seagate.I popped this particular hard drive into my macbook 2.2 GHz (model 3,1) and it works flawlessly. It also works even quieter than the previous hard drive. Good product from seagate (on rebate obviously)

Fast, quiet, huge storage for laptop, was working great for about 3 months. Then suddenly started making frightening creaking, popping, clicking noises an hour ago, hasn't completely stopped working yet but oviously on its way. Seems other customers have had similar experience with this piece of junk.

I had bought one back in November 09 and had the guys at the store installed it for me to replace my Toshiba 250gb HDD in my HP laptop. IT RUNS LIKE A DREAM. NO ERRORS,SUPERSUPER QUIET,AND FAST. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS DRIVE PERIOD!! MY LAPTOP HAS BEEN REBORN

Setup this hard drive on a old 40gb ps3. It works perfectly but make sure the jumper is setup to 1.5gbps and not 3gbps jumper because the ps3 won`t recognize it. loading of the ps3 seems a bit faster but you`ll not notice it anyway. hence limiting to 1.5gbps in the hard drive jumper is important and don`t forget to backup ps3 as well as to update  the firmware.

after using this drive on my mac book pro it gave me the blue screen of death. When i hooked it up to my pc through sata connection it beeped every 10 seconds and would not be identified when the ide drives were being detected. i have a seagate external hardrive and have no problems. Maybe it was a bad apple in the factory line. On a good note it ran very fast when it was working!

I bought one of these, it came quick, I was pleased until I tried installing it in an external enclosure where I learned the Serial connector was completely dysfunctional. I shall return and re purchase only once.
