I've bought about 10 or more of these more than the final couple of years and have not had a single issue with any of them. Some drives will run fairly hot if you dont have sufficient cooling. I've identified by placing a little fan to blow over the drives it keeps them really cool Perhaps they must have a fan alternative or one thing to maintain drives like the Seagate 1.5TB cool.

The unit appears excellent on paper. USB and eSata ports and the ease of swapping units in and out. The unit arrived DOA. It would not power up at all. The power indicator would not come on at all. I attempted on numerous outlets that I knew worked and it by no means worked. Worse of all I have to spend a third of the price of the unit to send it back. Try another brand. Manufacturer Response:Hi Mike, We at Thermaltake apologize for the inconvenience this may have brought on you. Please make contact with ttsupport@thermaltakeusa.com for warranty instruction. Feels well made, and it boots drives right up, no installation essential. Plus, I put a HDD in it that I had thought was dead and I was essentially able to read it. Windows couldn't study the drive when it was in my case, regardless of undertaking chkdsk, recovery applications, and so on. Saved me 900gb of lost files - worth the cost for that alone. None so far. Tends to make making use of your older, nevertheless functional HDDs practical, due to the fact you don't have to retain them in your case.

I have waited for the day when it would be easier to pull someone's drive and either grab their stuff off or repair an problem. The time has come and I couldn't be happier. I can easily save items before a format or rescue a drive.Backing up couldn't be simpler, either. I have a couple of old SATA drives that just type of take up space, now they are basically really large USB drives. It takes up room on my desk.It cost money. This issue is seriously cool.

Fantastic little plug&play interface that does exactly what it promises at a incredibly affordable value. It's providing extended utility and enabling use of several drives I'd removed from service immediately after replacing them with higher capacity units. These smaller sized drives would otherwise have gone on the shelf and most likely in no way been utilized once again. A welcomed addition to my system. None but. Really nicely built, and a pretty higher-excellent piece of gear for quite small dollars.

plugs in, straight out of the box, and works. less costly that purchasing an external drive. esata. absolutely nothing I am entirely OCD about backing up my computer systems routinely. With this dock, I can reuse old drives that I have outgrown. So I don't have to buy a new external drive when one fills up. I can just pull a single out of a stack of old drives, or just purchase a more affordable smaller sized capacity drive.

Functions fantastic, but do oneself a favor and investigate "HotSwap!". Google it.The HotSwap! app ensures that all volumes on the eSATA drive are closed, then spins down the drive prior to it is removed or powered off. Without having this assistance, your data really is at threat. It's Cost-free!Also...Verify out Belkin's "SurgeMaster Energy Center" if you want to shield and very easily power-switch the BlacX and other devices. None. None.

Cons:Not USB 3.0

Pros:Works on larger SATA3 drives
Comment:
I had ordered a Startech dock that claimed to work with all SATA drives up to 4TB only to find that it did not work with my WD 3TB Green SATA3 drives. NCIX was happy to return it and sent me this dock as a replacement, and it works perfectly with these 3TB drives. I am very happy with this purchase and the service provided.

Newegg handled RMA promptly & professionally, even offered 2 way shipping fees. No fault of newegg's. MFG should do better job of QA to assure 98% or greater of new products function out of the box. Absolutely nothing like obtaining stoked about new HW and wanting to put it by way of the wringer only to discover out it's DOA. Wouldn't power on brand new out of the box. Hope the 2nd one particular operates correctly, fingers crossed

solid, stable, reputable, functions, and its certainly a life saver for all those added HDD's lying around that are only 250 GB. I am converting to alll SSD's in my technique, besides two- 1TB storage drive, internal. I didn't uncover this sooner! I can't think this existed and I did not find out about it sooner. Excellent for the value and completely needed for those with sata drives that are acquiring outdated to have internal! you can now use these like massive capacity thumb drives at residence for archives.

This external HDD enclosure is great for use on a desk with several challenging drives. It's Super easy to swap out difficult drives. The esata mode is wonderful for transferring big amounts of data. It was plug and play and hot swappable on my Computer with Windows 7 64bit. None It could most likely have superior cooling but thats not a large deal. My WD 320GB Blue doesn't go above 110F in this issue.

It is a breeze to backup my method and place a drive in yet another place. Swift information transfers to traveling drives.Obtaining two makes cloning extremely basic. Nothing at all to do with the device but it would be great for esata to hot swap. But that isn't the spec. so I'm still pleased.

Ridiculously simple to "setup" and use.Looks sharp, and performs so doggone completely! has very good sized rubber nubbies (feet) underneath to insulate it from making or receiving any vibration on a hard surface. Totally NONE. I adore this factor. I've utilised these SATA/IDE to USB adapters to minimal avail. People, I've been a desktop techie for longer than I care to admit, and this small bugger is 1 of the greatest items I've purchased so far. Who requirements a desktop when you can just set this aside your laptop plug it in and set a large fat SATA drive in there. you're accomplished. Great major immediate external drive. And how significantly better 'ventilation' could you possibly want than a drive out in the open? The unit itself never heats up, and there is a great small blue indicator light on the front of the top rated portion that flashes red a small when there is activity. Not anything obnoxious, and if you like working in dim light, the small indicator will NOT be significantly at all to bother ya. I can't advise this thing sufficient to any person needing to just get a great major inexpensive internal SATA drive, plop it in spot, and turn it on. I don't use or have e-SATA on my laptop as I by no means want that much speed. So this issue through USB is just fine for moving a number of DVD's though you are doing other stuff on

?? Had such good reviews... I had high hopes but did Nothing at all! Tech support is of no use either! Kinda nasty too when I termed. I'm not confident if SOMEHOW my two hardrives that I was attempting to use in this device for SOME reason don't fit it but they are two.five" SATA drives just as indicated. I dunno- I had a single external challenging drive enclosure not fit my newest drive either so? But this seemed to "fit" correctly- just NOTHNIG happened when it was hooked up by the USB cord integrated as effectively as a back up just to make certain. Manufacturer Response:Anonymous,Please note that two.five" difficult drives from laptops may well have adapters on the bottom of them as effectively as casings that require to be removed. I actually like the thought that I don't have to open up my laptop or computer case every single time I want to add a hard drive drive for backing up stuff.I also like that it came with all the required cables for each esata and usb 2. plus the power provide None so far. I would undoubtedly get again when I can get get one with usb 3.
