Feels well made, and it boots drives right up, no installation essential. Plus, I put a HDD in it that I had thought was dead and I was essentially able to read it. With this dock, I can reuse old drives that I have outgrown. So I don't have to buy a new external drive when one fills up. I can just pull a single out of a stack of old drives, or just purchase a more affordable smaller sized capacity drive.

I had ordered a Startech dock that claimed to work with all SATA drives up to 4TB only to find that it did not work with my WD 3TB Green SATA3 drives. This external HDD enclosure is great for use on a desk with several challenging drives. It's Super easy to swap out difficult drives. The esata mode is wonderful for transferring big amounts of data. It was plug and play and hot swappable on my Computer with Windows 7 64bit. None It could most likely have superior cooling but thats not a large deal. My WD 320GB Blue doesn't go above 110F in this issue.

I'm not confident if SOMEHOW my two hardrives that I was attempting to use in this device for SOME reason don't fit it but they are two.five" SATA drives just as indicated. I dunno- I had a single external challenging drive enclosure not fit my newest drive either so?
