Use this all the time to transfer information to offiste colo. Item is fantastic. I am obtaining another one with out the E-Sata given that we always use the USB. none so far. be cautious popping drive that is still spinning. High speed drives are like gyros and snap to one particular side.

Functions as advertised. I purchased this back on 11-24-2010 with a บ rebate. Rebate status on the Thermaltake web page says authorized but I never received the rebate. Now, the status is no longer even accessible and the thermaltake telephone quantity is just a recording saying call cannot be completed. No additional Thermaltake merchandise for me if I don't get this rebate. I hardly ever do rebates anymore since a lot more frequently than not it ends up becoming a scam. When I call the story is "oh yeah that just shipped these days" and I'll get it a handful of days later.

Create quality is very very good and works as advertised. Really handy if you have a couple of utilized drives you can use as storage. none As the earlier reviewer indicated, the mail in rebate is a joke. They even give you a tracking quantity but when you attempt to track it, it just tell you not discovered. The business (not Newegg) even charges you a dollar for quickly tracking the rebate. MIR rip off.....

Pop it in, pop it out, operates good appears to preserve the drives platters always spinning, not confident if thats my technique or the enclosure, but not massive adequate deal for me as I only preserve the enclosure on when I require one thing off the drive Employing this with a Rosewill pci-e esata card and a WD Caviar Black and it all functions smooth as silk

Cons:-not USB 3.0 :(

Pros:-plug and play-clean look

Was on sale for $30 bucks. Great product. While I don't have high numbers of harddrives to fully take advantage of this product, I can see how this would extremely useful for people with multiple back up harddrives. Plug it in when you want to back up, plug it out when you're done.Less time spent powered up = less degrading of the hard drive. The fact that it fits both a 2.5" and a 3.5" already justifies most of the costs you pay over just external enclosures.great buy.

I love this issue, it just performs! the way everything I've bought from Thermaltake does (try their energy supplies), this 1 has a decent power supply for 2TB drives. I've been utilizing older (not green) 7200 rpm 2T drives with it for a year I wish it had a switch for esata-usb like the silver river duo did, I use it esataed to my primary computer system, but do usb transfers from other computer systems and I have to unplug and plug issues everytime, esata takes priority when working with each obtaining esata hot swap or usb style realease working can be challenging and is the fault of your motherboard's esata chipset maker

Sounded Excellent!!! DOA It no workee... No power from brick. I tried yet another brick that I had, and the light lit... but, the drive I plugged in just clicked and didn't spin up. We'll see how effectively Neweggs RMA is... Just sort of a bummer to wait 5 days to get some thing that will take at least twice that extended to get replaced. What are the odds of getting two DOAs in a row?

Cons:N/A

Pros:Very convenient
Comment:
I've been using this for 2 years now, and it's amazing. The speeds aren't great - but that's to be expected. This is very reliable and convenient because I don't have to shut down my computer to insert  a new drive. I use this for my media, so I don't have it turned on all the time.I plan to get the dock with two slots, because I find that I might use more drives at once to transfer files.

Cons:none

Pros:fast transfer with eSatachanging HDDs is a breezesturdy
Comment:
Got this on a daily special at NCIX few days ago and it was totally worth it.With eSata, transfer speed is very fast.changing hard drive is a breeze. On some occasions i had to power off the docking station and turn it back on when changing the hard drive but not a huge problem for me as it's just a press of a button.Another minor thing is the eject button is pretty stiff so I really had to press down on it.. although it could just be my unit.

It does what it is supposed to do. I tested the e-sata connection with openSUSE Linux and Windows 7. It is a bit tricky to plug in a disk. Disks don't hotplug in the usual way for a plug-in disk. The Thermaltake dock need to be powered off when a disk is installed or removed. There is a handy push button on the unit so this isn't actually a challenge. Also, if no disk is installed and the system is booted with the power on the dock, the boot will hang.

Works as promised.. hot swappable eSATA connection as properly as USB2.. Fits three.5 and 2.5.. awesome when you need to have to recover/restore a drive from a netbook. AC adapter emits a high frequency noise and will ANNOY you to the point of unplugging it from a power strip. Not even the on/off button on dock alleviates this continual irritating sound. Haven't recieved บ rebate, which was why I ordered it in the first spot. Attempted contacting them a number of times through e mail with no any answers.

Nicely built and functions as promised. Fantastic unit for back-ups, cloning and restoring. None As the prior reviewer stated, you can forget the MIR. I was sent a tracking number and when I utilised it, it says it doesn't exist. The MIR organization (not Newegg) even asks for a dollar to expedite processing. What a rip-off

This dock is a definite have to have for any technique administrator or resident pc "guru". I really like becoming in a position to swap hard drives in and out as required.Personal Encounter:A friend's laptop died. The local laptop or computer retailer wanted to charge him 贶 to recover his files, so he brought it to me instead. I pulled out the tough drive, plugged it into this dock, copied some school files to a usb stick, and ordered him an external enclosure. Too straightforward. Not hot swappable. Your drive is exposed though it's plugged in. If you need to mount a tough drive temporarily, this dock is good. If you're looking for one thing far more permanent, even though, I would appear for a thing that completely encloses the drive.

Employing this to dock an added drive for my vm images to get them off my host drive. Worked no issue, on both WinXP and Win7 immediately after I installed my program's eSATA drivers (which I didn't recognize weren't installed). I've already knocked the eSATA cable out of the back of the docking station twice even though reaching for one thing behind my pc. Cable isn't snug at all, this is a bit of a deal breaker if it occurs while I'm carrying out some thing crucial. I'm taking into consideration hot-gluing the eSATA plug to the back of the dock so I don't shoot myself in the foot once more. I've been wanting to purchase one particular of these for a even though now - must come in handy for a wide variety of makes use of. Liking the truth that I can move my vm environments very easily.

Works perfectly with eSATA for performing backups, diagnostics, clones, etc. Nevertheless going robust immediately after a year and a half. With the newer SSD's, etc, it would be nice if it was updated to support SATA 3Gb/s and/or SATA 6Gb/s, but this in all probability isn't an concern for most rotational drives. When utilised with windows, shutdown will send a power down command to the drive to stop it from spinning. On bootup, the BIOS sends a power up command to the drive to turn it back on. This will operate as long as you don't physically flip the switch on the docking station. Sadly, the blue light stays lit the whole time.It ought to come with a 12V power plug to 4-pin regular molex connector (male). Several motherboards incorporate a power plug on their eSata brackets and this would permit the entire device to be powered by the pc with 1 less power cable and brick running around. It would also permit it to turn the whole unit on and off with the computer. When you turn on the switch to the unit, the drive will automatically power up and will not power down till you shut down your personal computer and/or turn off the switch.
