Thermaltake ST0005U HDD Docking Station
Cons:plastic for activity and power light cover is a little flimsy.

Pros:easy plug in for hard drive. Great for backups and transfers
Comment:
I use this device to plug in hard drives for backing up files. E-sata is superior to usb 2.0 as it offers much faster transfer rate. Good also to clone hard drives. The only issue is the plastic cover for the power/activity light fell out. But otherwise a great product.

Thermaltake ST0005U HDD Docking Station
Cons:Don't like the design of the LED light (idle/working) on the front. Foolish me, pushed it thinking it was the on button (well, it was obvious to me). Somewhat dislodged it but it still functions.

Pros:Like others have said, this unit does what it's supposed to do. Easy to insert/extract the HD.
Comment:
Got this one because of the eSATA linkup. Really pleased with ease of connection to NZXT tempest evo case.It does what I want it to do with no issues.

Thermaltake ST0005U HDD Docking Station
Cons:-Needs power.. but i guess that's mandatory..

Pros:-Fast-Reliable-Quick and easy ie Plug and Play..-Comes with e-sata cable unlike most capable e-sata devices.
Comment:
Needs power.. but i guess that's mandatory..would be awesome if it was sort of rechargeable.Great little device, really really useful, don't need to open up the PC inorder to test/backup HDDs that don't belong to the particular computer. Is great for my WDTV live... using a WD Blue 320GB 2.5".... works great !! So far no problems whatsoever, but then again, it's only been 3 days :P

this is much easier to use than putting my hard drives in an enclosure. i've got 2 or 3 hard drives lying around and don't know what to do with it. this the perfect solution for this.

Thermaltake ST0005U HDD Docking Station
Cons:Plastic housing seems a bit cheap

Pros:Great deal after rebateHandy for quickly connecting drives
Comment:
So far this has worked with every drive I have tried. It's quite handy to be able to quickly drop  a drive in and have it recognized instead of having to open an enclosure every time.

Thermaltake ST0005U HDD Docking Station
Cons:Power light looks like an on/off switch. Made me feel stupid :(

Pros:Works as advertised. Great for backing up a lot of information. Also works great for moving files that will not fit on a cheap usb flash drive. USB transfer speeds are adequate.
Comment:
All in all this docking station is everything I expected/needed it to be. I bought it solely to transfer a large file from my friends computer to my own. I am sure it would have worked well for this if his computers motherboard had not fried before it made it to my front door. It is a bit of a hassle packing up the docking station and its cables to go get a big file. So make it a gift for your friends!

Thermaltake ST0005U HDD Docking Station
Cons:None!

Pros:Easy to use and easy to set up.
Comment:
This thing has been great. I bought it about 6 months ago and it has come in handy! I have used it for backing up my lappy hard drive on a few occasions and transferring files to and from my desktop is easy too. It is so basic and easy to use. I got it on sale for $39 bucks and have gotten more than my money's worth out of it!

Cons:1.None yet - it is still working

Pros:1.Very easy operation2.Does not interfere with my computer when starting (even if there is a drive in the station and it is ON)3.Handy if you have SATA drives sitting around your house
Comment:
It's black colored and looks nice close to my black case. If you are able to get it on special, it's a good deal as well.

Thermaltake ST0005U HDD Docking Station
Cons:-On/Off swtich at the back-Eject button is pretty much useless-External power adapter

Pros:-Nice build quality-eSATA-Supports both 3.5" and 2.5" hard drives
Comment:
Paid $28.99 before rebate on 08/28/2009. Overall a nice product. Anyone with a few SATA hard drives sitting around should get this and get them going. First time powering on the dock I pressed power/hdd light thinking that it was the on/off switch. Power button located at the back is inconvenient.

Thermaltake ST0005U HDD Docking Station
Cons:None so far, especially if using e-sata

Pros:Ability to use internal drives as external backups
Comment:
Bought one of these about a year ago and liked it so much that I bought another one several months back. This it is so very useful. Transfer times are quite short when using e-sata. Couldn't be happier using this product.

Thermaltake ST0005U HDD Docking Station
Cons:drives sometimes not detected until esata cable is unplugged/plugged back in

Pros:feels solid, hotswap works
Comment:
Got this so I can have external backup of my data. Works great as a hot swap device (use safely remove device function in windows first). However, it is sometimes temperemental and the drive is not detected unless I unplug the esata cable and then plug it back in. Esata is fast and runs as if the drive were an internal drive. USB also works great but slower obviously.

Thermaltake ST0005U HDD Docking Station
Cons:none so far.

Pros:nice build quality.blue led with red/pink flashing activity
Comment:
this thing is pretty hefty in weight and has solid build quality! black is a semi-matte. compared to a vantec dock that 2 of my friends have, this thing is definitely way more stylish. first impressions are stellar. i accidentally thought the led light was the on/off and i pressed into it really hard making it crack. the leds work perfectly regardless and sustained no damage. perfect for a noob like me.paired it with a TB caviar green, soo silent. its quiet!!will update  if something goes wrong

Thermaltake ST0005U HDD Docking Station
Cons:Power button on reareSATA cable could have been longer

Pros:Easiest way to connect any SATA drive to your PCSturdy base without being excessively heavy or largePower connection from AC adapter is a basic barrel connector and plugs in securely.
Comment:
I don't use "hot swap", what I do instead is "safely remove hardware" and then power down. This is why I wish the power button was on the front. I have used many external hdd's over the years and due to poor power connectors, have fried many hdd's over the years. This uses a basic barrel style connector that connects securely. The size is big enough to hold drive solidly, yet small enough that I carry this in my laptop case (a very large case for a 17" with many pockets) On sale they are a steal!

Thermaltake ST0005U HDD Docking Station
Cons:Drive do not stop spinning when the computer turns off, must remember to turn the dock off.

Pros:Hot SwapEase of Use
Comment:
This dock works great, I leave it on my desk to pull files off of hard drives from my other machines. While I do need to remember to keep it turned off while I start my computer and to turn it off when I turn off my computer I can't go back to not using this dock. My computer is on the floor and pulling hard drives used to require me bending down and opening up my case just to extract a few photos for a friend or relative who's computer is on the fritz.

Thermaltake ST0005U HDD Docking Station
Cons:HD exposure, computer start up issues

Pros:Conveniance
Comment:
After owning it a week it has already become integral to my setup. I love being able to exchange hdds on the fly. the only complaint I have is that when I start my computer up I have to make sure the usb cable is unplugged or that the device is turned off or my bios won't start up for some reason, the usb hdd seems to confuse it. Also I worry about something damaging the hd while it is exposed and not covered. But these are just minor issues overall I am very happy.

Cons:-None that can be seen

Pros:-Convenient-Fast (with eSATA)-Easy of use
Comment:
This beauty is supremely convenient especially for people who have 2.5 and 3.5 hard drives laying around without an enclosure. This device lets you use them as an external storage device and to easily hot swap them at your convenience during computer use (in my case, Win 7 x64).

Worked just fine with all the drives I tested including a 1.5TB WD. I use eSATA for my main system and USB for my notebook & my daughters system. Now I need to buy one for my mom and sister so I can just bring a drive to their places instead of an ext.drive with cables n ps!

Worked with my 2.5 seagate/3.5 wd hdd with no issues option to use usb or esata cool blue/red led light very quiet and no heat issues hdd is partially exposed so be careful where you plan to place it to prevent being knocked off or bumped dock is better then buying multiple enclosures for every hd overall excellent value

Cons:SizeExternal Power Supply

Pros:Versatility Speed
Comment:
This has to be one of the best docking stations available. You have 2 different options for transferring data and the ease of switching out hard drives is great. I'll never go back to enclosed cases if I can help it. I can leave a stack of hard drives on a shelve and just plug them in when needed.

Thermaltake ST0005U HDD Docking Station
Cons:Dust could sneak in through the open slot in the drive flap over time

Pros:Ease of use"Sane" power adapter size
Comment:
I have a solid month of use with this unit and approximately 20 different sata drives connected via E-Sata to my diagnostic laptop for spinrite, etc marathons with client hardware. Compared to my old methods of using an opened external enclosure to access the drives, this is quick and easy.Well worth the price, especially since it was on sale and had a MIR.
