This Hard drive enclosure has been great. I threw an old SATA 200GB drive in there and the construction of the drive seems sturdy. I have been primarily using it to play movies on my PS3 and it works very well for that. It is made out of aluminum so it has some heat dissipation capacity so that is an extra plus. I do wish it was a bit cheaper but this is still worthy of a 5 out of 5 and I wouldn't recommend any other enclosure.

Overall a good enclosure only takes about 30 seconds per GB to transfer files with the eSATA cable, I haven't used the usb one. I also really sleek design easy to look at and put together, I am using a Segate Barracuda 500GB inside right now. I would recommend this product.

I love the look of this drive and it has been serving me well for the most part. The problem I am having is that whenever I either turn the drive off, or unplug its cables, it refuses to work until I unplug the power adapter for 10 minutes.I've seen this issue around and blame the power adapter and not the enclosure itself. Fortunately I do not need it to do anything more than sit on my desk and provide storage for my laptop, so at doing that, it's perfect.Great enclosure, watch out for faulty power adapters though (if they have not fixed this yet).

I bought it to pair with my shaw HD box. It works beautifully and shaw recognizes it without any problem. It is quietier compared to the basic model made by Vantec.

I bought this to house my 1TB Caviar Black and it works flawlessly. A true plug and play. A good buy.

Use it for my backups: works great with eSata interface.USB transfer is fine also. Since it doesn't have any fan, it's very quiet. Installing the drive was easy.No complaints here!

I paired this up with a 1.5tb WD caviar green. When transferring large files for a long time, its warm to the touch. Would probably be better if there was a mini fan pushing the warm air out as the spaced aluminum contact is not effectively spreading the heat.Very sleek, nice look to it. Is great for my living room media player as my tv stand is a shiny black too.

Great enclosure, using it at school as my bootable HDD for school work and programming, works fast, stays cool, is quiet, looks good and it was a piece of cake to assemble.

I got this case during one of the weekly sales. I needed a new external drive as my older 120GB just wasn't big enough anymore. I popped a 1TB inside and have had no issues. I will probably purchase another one and use with my WD TV as a portable media drive.

Fantastic build quality, hooking up a sata II drive takes lest than 5 sec. Power switch on back is very useful when you don't want the drive on. Only down side is, 10K rpm dirves, or high density drives used for an extended period of time (i.e. very large transfers) could lead to thermal problems, a micro fan to circulate air would have a been perfect addition to this enclosure.

Great enclosure if you can find it in a sale. I've used it with a variety of systems both with the e-sata and the usb connections and everything worked perfectly.Right now it's plugged into my server by e-sata with a 500GB WD (WD5000AAKS) from a RAID5 array I am migrating over to bigger disks.About my only complaint would be that the black gloss finish might not stand up well over time. I knew what I was getting when I bought and as I plan to just stick it in my av rack attached to a HTPC it's not a concern for me. However if you plan to move it around often in your bag etc.. it might end up looking a little rough. I have an identical (in terms of enclosure at least) Antec version that has a matte black finish that is more suited to travelling.Also the wall wart is a little bigger than I would like, but most enclosures are like that. The LED is bright but you don't have to connect it..

This is a great drive. it does exactly what is suppose to do look good and transfer files to a external harddrive. the only problem i have is that the cords could be longer, more so the power cord although its not that big of a problem. Great case..

I connected this to my Shaw HD Aspen PVR over eSATA (1T Hitachi drive). After power cycling the PVR I now have over 180 hours of HD recording time available! For PVR use don't connect the internal LED cable so it doesn't flash at you all the time.

I bought this to house a 1 TB hard drive to carry around all my program and debugging tools. IT worked well as expected. NO complain what so ever and it looks great

As an owner of an old vantec hard drive enclosure I trustfully bought this one but I have to admit the switching adaptor really disappointed me, it have a strange form and a short length, fortunately my pa-215 power adaptor from my old enclosure is compatible else I would have return it. Definitively not what I expected from an enclosure in this price range.

This is an excellent enclosure and comes with the appropriate Sata cables. I used this enclosure to house a 1TB WD drive to use it with a PVR - Rogers version. Everthing worked fine and it looks great

It's a very good esata/usb2 external enclosure. It looks very nice in glossy black. It doesn't look cheap and is very well built.

I got this thing because i constantly swap drives out of my system and move things around...so now I dont need to open my case up and can take a drive with me pretty easily. Plug&Play functionality and allows hot-swaps...so you dont need to reboot to connect/disconnect a drive. This is also great, since i just picked up 3x 1.5TB drives and now need to transfer data from 6 smaller drives onto my new beasts...this makes it easy just hot swap the small drives and duplicate...highly recommended.USB and eSATA compatibility is a real plus and they even included a SATA to eSATA bracket if your mobo doesnt have an exclusive eSATA port, but you got a spare SATA.

Just a note, to use the screw that come with this housing and NOT the ones that come with the hard drive or your computer case, or else it will results in some scratching of the interior. Other than that, it takes my 1TB samsung spinpoint with no complaints.

Bought this to replace my usb2 enclosure and am I ever happy, the speed difference is HUGE! I haven't had any issues using eSATA, just plugged it in and it's ready to go. The cables it comes with are a little on the short side if you don't plan on having it near your PC and a electrical jack.
