Simply put, this is the ideal SATA enclosure from Vantec and excels in almost everything location. The style, quietness and value is a winning mixture. I've been employing Vantec items for 5+ years now and I am really happy with their merchandise. Don't pass this one up...as I give it 5Ǜ stars! None By the way, my setup is employing two of these with a 500GB challenging drive in every single and each of them just work excellent for my usage. Just as described, installation was easy, all parts integrated, and excellent speed for the price tag. Looks good asthetically, quiet, keeps a great temperature. Comes with an detatchable stand. Bought this to get the files off of a dead tough drive, was able to set up it into the enclosure, plug and play into one more personal computer, and then do a complete reformat after uninstalling. Not too loud, great speed, great buy.

Easily installed a difficult drive from a broken WD MyBook. From opening the box to plugging it in took less than 5 minutes. That LED seriously is incredibly bright, but I just (like many other individuals) put a piece of tape over it and now I'm satisfied.

So far, so great. Installation was pretty simple. It is becoming employed for my old 80 GB internal drive for additional storage. Doens't run as well warm. usb cable brief.

Seems well constructed. Recognized the tricky rive instantly with no complications. Place a 1tb drive inside and its an extremely tight fit. In fact I went to attempt to take the drive out and thats it. The drive is stuck in there forever, unless I get some aluminum cutting shears. If you strategy on swapping out drives I would recommend against this situation.

Quite properly developed and sleek and neat inside and out. Two screws and the case comes off. Once again, really effectively developed. None I have numerous other external enclosures that I have been using. I have come to a decision to get 4 far more of this enclosure as it is sweet and very cost powerful. In windows 7 go to pc/properties (right mouse button)/manage exactly where you will see the drive and can format it. I have 500GB, 1 and 2 TB drives that work fine in it.

Assembly was fast and simple. I had the HDD in and anything reassembled in less than 10 minutes. None that I know of. I bought this for a buddy who has an older Pc and required some additional HDD space. I am assuming that considering that I haven't heard him complain about it that almost everything is working just fine.

Decent style. Feels fairly sturdy. LED is way also bright. I put a couple of pieces of frosted tape more than it to bring it to an acceptable brightness level due to the fact I didn't want to completely disconnect it. The Antec enclosure I purchased is considerably superior.

Clean, simple design. Vantec tends to make nice stuff - this isn't funky or ghetto. It's built properly, and looks excellent. HDD connectors are directly on the interface PCB, and the HDD fits effectively. Operates fine so far. Jmicron chipset. PCB says Rev .9 - Why don't they start off with 1.? Also, the LED wire goes from the front of the situation to the back (once you screw down the HDD, you slide the tray back in, stopping threeǚ of the way to plug in the LED wire connector). So, the wire is glued in 1 spot to the inside of the situation, but you have to break the glue to move the wire more than the top rated of the HDD in order for the tray to slide in devoid of receiving the wire caught in among the tray and the case. Lastly, the power cable is short, but same length as the USB cable. Usually outlets are on the floor or behind the desk, so a longer power cable and shorter USB cable ought to be included. My Vantec USB to SATA/IDE adapter is like that. It works, I ordered it for my girl to backup her files and inexpensive was the major concern. Very qualified looking. Not bulky when compared to enclosures I've bought in the past. Gets warm beneath complete load, but not hot at all, also cools down quickly. The finish isn't glossy so you won't leave fingerprints all more than it. This was for my mother-in-law and not me. :) Purchase this enclosure! It's a wonderful item at an even better cost.

You want to format the drive just before you place it in the enclosure, it does not work straight with a new drive, at very first I thought it may well be defect or my drive was defective but I just required to format the drive before inserting it.

Good heavy durable case, and this was by far the simplest case to assemble and use. Operates wonderful and haven't had an concern with it. Gets kinda warm, but that's expected as it's passive cooling. Also the blue led is far too brilliant in a darkened room.
