Sleek appear and aluminum case at a budget value and the tough drive couldn't move about soon after installed. The only factor I could believe of was the some what inexpensive really feel to the power switch. That and the plug in for the power provide was a little wide to fit in in between two normal plug ins on a power strip. Definately worth the income.

absolutely nothing why say that ot is capable of holding a 2TB when its not? got it nowadays in IRAQ!!! put it together and all the factor does it light up!! i can really feel the harddrive spinning but nothing comes up on my laptop. i cant beleive i waited for this thing to get here, now its just a piece of metal that i dont need to have. will somebody point me in the path where i can get a casing that can handle a WD SATA 2TB harddrive?

Straightforward install. Works with Vista 64-bit and Mac OSX properly. Plug in anything, flip on the power switch (a good touch, by the way), and it works like a charm. I have list of items here, but none had been substantial sufficient for me to detract from the score. They're additional just my thoughts on factors you should know that could be dealbreakers for you, but aren't for me. Like other people have mentioned, it does run warm and the LED is extremely, Really bright. Did I mention the LED is bright? You could almost certainly use it as a night light in a dark space. This is simply fixed with tape or by merely disconnecting the light. That mentioned, if the drive doesn't will need to be on 24ǝ, basically switch it off. The power switch will allow keeping almost everything plugged in, so it's not a dilemma. 1 other tiny note is that there are no dampening/shock-absorption characteristics to it, so if it lays flat on a hard surface, the vibrations from the drive will transfer and generate a bit of noise, but there are plenty of approaches to subvert that. I'm preparing on getting a number of of these. I bought my initial to replace the enclosure to my Maxtor OneTouch four, which by no means rather worked appropriate. Removing the drive from that was a job in itself and completely destroyed the old enclosure, but I was so disenfranchised with the Maxtor enclosure that I got a lot of sick pleasure from ripping the plastic and metal apart and voiding my warranty. Granted, in doing so, I lost everything on the drive, but it was mainly movies and MP3s that had been backed up elsewhere, so it wasn't a massive deal. I'd advocate getting a separate enclosure and drive rather than acquiring a pre-built 1. It's not worth the premium paid.

Excellent tiny enclosure. Also looks good. Power brick has the large block at the finish you plug it in making it annoying and annoying. Also it is shorter then most. Also installing difficult drive is a bit a lot more complicated then most.

I love this series of enclosures, I have three of them now but I found out the hard way that this enclosure NST-300S2-BK is only good for up to 1.5 terabytes (it says in the instructions). I have 2.0 terabyte drives which don't work in these. It doesn't give that spec for this one on the web site but it does for the other ones like this. Very important piece of info because now I've got 2 enclosures I can't use. Not the products fault so I will get more of this brand.

Slim smaller form factor, looks good and keeps my drive cool. Instructions on connecting LED cable could be a little additional clear. I relied on earlier critiques to assist me connect the LED appropriately. Make confident pin one on LED cable is oriented appropriate. I paired this with a Vantec FX NAS adapter and a 2Tb Western Digital Green drive and produced a NAS out of it. The enclosure keeps the drive cool and it looks and works great. With this configuration I can create my own NAS unit and not be locked in to a prepared created NAS. I picked my own enclosure, 1 with a great track record, and created my own NAS drive.

Great case for the cash. Solid really feel. Power pack is huge but tall and narrow, shaped to fit an outlet without covering others. I've messed with lots of cheap situations, and this is head and shoulders above in quality. With promo code and free shipping, got it for about the maximum quantity of alter pizza delivery guys are allowed to carry. No problems with an older Maxtor 160GB drive. At this cost, none definitely. The power cord is a little short. The LED barely fluctuates to indicate activity. Newegg not screwing up and send me two would be the only actual con. As mentioned in other reviews, make certain the small LED harness is plugged in correctly... the diagram printed on the drive frame sorta looks opposite since the "white" cable is the dark 1 in the picture. Go by the text, not the picture. And check it Ahead of you bolt the drive in the frame (once in, it covers most of the diagram). My case had a standard energy jack rather of the PSǘ style connector shown (not a poor thing!), and a push-button switch rather of a rocker switch, but nonetheless feels top quality.

Uncomplicated installation, quick usb 2. performance, sleek appearance. Works perfectly for the a variety of uses I have for an external enclosure. Low price, convienent way of putting to use older, high capacity difficult drives to use. Also makes it convienent to securely destroy information without having getting to have a drone pc and monitor setup. Blue LED stopped working inside two-three weeks of use, which isn't a major deal because it just indicates that there is energy. The LED never ever indicated hard drive activity. If it wasn't for this defect, I would have supplied five stars. Power supply is on the plug finish, rather than inline with the cord, which makes cable management easier. Hopefully my LED issue does not indicate the high quality of mfg on the PCB. The e-sata version of this enclosure came down in cost..if buying, be certain to buy that version as its only a buck or so more. USB 3. is also obtainable, but w/o e-sata...not confident if that matters as I've lost track of realizing my information speed transfer rates for several interfaces.

Very cool case, long cord, easy installation and minimal assembly. Blue light is extremely bright, but I believe it's cool. Power adapter is a bit of a modest brick, but a intelligent style stops it from blocking plugs. The only dilemma that I have is that the case will expectantly power down right after running for a couple of hours, though I hope this is just random and isn't due to overheating issues >_< Fans maybe? It's fairly low-cost and it works well. Would obtain again. Paired this with a 750GB WD Caviar Green for backup storage, appears to function fairly properly.

Effortless to install drive, very good excellent construction, smooth edges, nice mirror finish in the front groove above the energy LED. The enclosure will turn off the drive if you unplug the USB cable, but the LED will remain on.Also has a rocker power switch that has a satisfying click to it (However, purchased a second one for a buddy a month later, his had a more affordable push switch) Particularly bright blue LED may well bother some people today (it's essentially a mag light, but if it bothers you you can often disconnect it or cover it). Thankfully I like blue leds and have mine facing a wall to produce a nice ambient glow in my room at night.Also, vantec didn't key the led 4 pin connector on the inside, so if you plugged it in the wrong way your led will not turn on. I would liked to have observed vantec place a molded piece of translucent acrylic in the front groove in order to diffuse the led light along the front, but thats just aesthetics, works perfectly out of the box.Another observation, this drive doesn't seem to have any important thermal dissipation properties - my WD10EADS 1TB drive seems to run at the very same temp in the enclosure as its twin running bare on my desk. Thankfully my WD green power drives run cool, but if your drive runs hot you may well wish to take this into consideration.

Good design. Quite effortless to install. Worked on 1st turn on. Great transfer speed for a USB two. external drive. Virtually absolutely nothing here. Just one minor point. The 2 little screws to hold the cover are somewhat tough to install - not significantly room to work. But then, How many times are you going to open it ? I have another one - specifically the identical. HINT: I am conviced of the high item high quality.

Not much to say about this, other than it's a fairly solid enclosure and my HDD keeps a good temp in it. It may not be the best enclosure out there, but it's one of the cheapest that offers a decent quality, so you pretty much get what you pay for. Edit: Sorry! Wrong SKU, supposed to be the eSATA version.Good inexpensive enclosure. Working well with a WD Green 500GB connected to a Shaw Motorola PVR (DCT3416). Comes with a stand, USB A to B cable, eSATA to eSATA cable, and an eSATA PCI slot bracket for those computers without an external Sata port at the back. A great enclosure overall! Design is a bit weird and it makes the enclosure much bigger than it should be. Aside from look, this is a great performer! The passive cooling works very well - even if you keep it on all the time, it barely gets warm. Never had a problem with these. Definitely the best bang for the buck!

Have been trecking this enclosure around for 2 years and have never had a problem with it. The only negatives I can see are the short cables supplied with the unit and the bright blue led (you can just unplugg it though). There is no esata as well but USB is fast enough

Excellently built. Hard drive fits very nicely. Good internal design. Easy to install.The LED light cable is hard to install. The power cord is too short for me. I have to place the unit on the floor instead of on the desk when I use it.I recommend it.
