Considering that the drive died there are no pros. Drive died following about 1 month. Do not risk your information on this drive. It is a substandard product that desires to be recalled. If you ignore this review and obtain it, beware the flashing light. Listen for the loud clunking inside and you will have the identical sick feeling I did.

The hard drive is fine. View this as a affordable way to get a 2TB Caviar Green. The case/controller was lousy. Gave me random errors, quite extended mount times, and freezes. Removing the drive and installing it as an internal drive works nicely. Of course, I wanted an external...

Really quiet and cool. No energy button, it turns on as soon as you plug it in to the wall and usb port. Case is fully enclosed, won't be capable to open it up to make it into a internal drive with out obtaining to break the case. Just fyi incase. Have had no difficulties with it at all, no undesirable sectors, everything is functioning as it need to, fairly decent speed for a 5400rpm. Excellent media drive, just wish it has a power button.

Easy plug and play, 2tb of storage.Ƒ.81tb actual) Copied 734gb of information and it did not heat up incredibly a lot immediately after checking on it 2 hours later. No fan or open slots for heat to escape. It's USB2. so it requires awhile to copy information to it. This drive is only utilized to shop backups of my movies and television shows along with a copy of my MMORPG game folders. I unplug it when not in use so hopefully it will have a extended lifespan. I've however to be let down by any WD hdd I've ever purchased. There is a 122mb "file" that I just cant seem to erase when I do a total format. But since XP pro(sp3) shows me 1.81tb of cost-free space I cant complain about 122mb. Would be good to get rid of whatever WD has installed on this thing though.

Does what it was developed to do! Great external tough drive for backing up all you personal computer files or to retailer you music, video or photgraphs. Straightforward to install and manage. It does not have an on/off switch... however, it turns on & off with you Computer or will hibernate or sleep dependent on your Computer settings. This has no pre-loaded software package set up and provides you the capacity to select what you wish to back-up or conserve. You can go with Windows recommendations or opt for your own based on your demands. NONE! I bought the 1GB version back in late fall and it has worked flawless. I decided to obtain the 2GB for my principal Computer with a 4 Disk / 2GB RAID setup. I setup both ext. HD's on my system, transfered all the data from my 1GB to the new 2GB (transfer went effectively, no troubles) and the removed the data from the older 1GB HD and now working with it on my secondary process. You will By no means go wrong with a WD product! Each the New 2GB and the older 1GB both work ideal and I use them to back-up all my information on each Computer's and I can access either through my Property Network. I do not will need to swap drives about to access information from 1 or the other laptop.

It is cavernous! read and create instances are actually very good! It is as well heavy to tote around with my laptop. I only mention this to point out this issue is a full size drive, it's not meant to be portable. It is excellent and I didn't have to pay extra for the shiny looks of a My Book.

whisper really, 1.87TB reported by win 7 64bit, cool to the touch immediately after operating it all day putting 1T worth of files from my tower.Like the flat profile. I chose this drive more than Seagates 3T usb three. simply because i trust WD way much more then Seagate drives. not genuinely a true "con", just, i wish it had a dim drive "working" light in the front. There is a little white LED in the back that tells when the drive is "active/working" but if its not close to some thing to reflect off of (i have mine close to a wall so i see the blinks reflected) you might not even know its on...perhaps thats a different plus for some ppl :) WISH this came in 3T usb three.WD..make it occur! This drive is replacing a WD mybook 600GB (the upright model). The upright models seem to have a clicking/noise operation.

Excellent for the price tag. Have had this drive for small over a month and it has been ideal. Plugged in and computer system recognized it immediately and was capable to use it as yet another drive on computer. It doesn't get hot, transfers files speedily and was capable to set up partitions and folders simply. Really content with this drive. Wish I had purchased couple additional at the BF cost. And BTW, Newegg was super fast at shipping. NONE

The cost, straightforward and sleek design, very good weight to it, no software package installed on your personal computer, runs cool and incredibly quiet, and 2TB!!!! I cant locate any at all. I paid 贬 for it last year, not on Newegg and it is still worth just about every penny I paid. Any level of computer system savvy will beable to use this product. what are you waiting for, buy it currently!

-Decent create speed (ㅑmbps) using a hmpc running windows home server. -Exceptional read speed. I stream blue ray video using and have flawless performance. Skipping a scene takes a second, but it's my wireless speed that bottlenecks, not the drive-Very reliable, utilized for 1.5 yrs with no problems-Formatted into three partitions, no troubles-Silent operation -Requires a power provide as does any external 2TB drive I've ever observed. Nonetheless, would be nice not to have I purchased 2 of these because they are so excellent. I know have adequate space for a lot of years to come

Big Capacity, Compact Design, No Large Annoying Lights I had this drive for about a month when out of the blue it decided to die. I lost some data, even so lucky I was largely using the drive as a backup (so a lot for that). I consider reliability is probably the most important factor with any difficult drive. Speed is secondary. If a difficult drive doesn't function, you can't use it. As a result, don't get this item.

Outstanding speed (I commonly write on Win7 Home at about 25MBPS as opposed to my old Seagate which only gets up to 12MBPS. It seems to write quicker than my internal..)Incredibly quiet, runs awesome. Looks fantastic/is compact. None. I not too long ago bought this external as my internal 1TB reached capacity. I've sworn by utilizing Seagate for my external demands, but decided to give this drive a shot. So far my expectations are met and then some. Get this drive if you want a fast, reputable, quiet and compact external for your desktop/laptop. Just don't anticipate to be in a position to carry it everywhere..it's pretty heavy. I apologize for the lack of technical specifications, but it's an external..what do you will need to know!

Significant, was inexpensive when compared to other individuals at the time that I purchased it. Runs fine. Created by Western Digital. I knew what I was acquiring when I made the obtain. Satisfied with it. Good for storage. Not the very best for frapsing directly to, but it nevertheless does the trick. As soon as yet again, I knew what I was buying when I produced the acquire. I'd purchase something produced by Western Digital, anything.

Lots of space, spins appropriate up devoid of difficulties. The drive is SLOW. I look to get a sustained transfer rate of ӱMB/s when backing up. It appears the more complete it gets, the slower it becomes. Didn't have a challenge when I started moving files to it, but the transfer slowed from ㅑMB/s when I began to ӲMB/s when it was 1TB full. Not sure I would purchase this HD yet again.

2Tb of storage for 100 dollars, yes please!! This tricky drive has been remarkable. I ordered one about 6 months ago to hold all my video files. I use it to serve media files more than my network to my media pc. I loved it so substantially and utilized up the storage so speedily i ordered yet another one. Its an incredible device for the value and ideal for lengthy term storage. Purchase it! No RAID, but not a negative of this device given that its not meant to but 2 TB is alot to lose if a thing goes incorrect. Low-cost, uncomplicated, and excellent for quick and significant data backups. As with any backup options, couple this with raid and or off-web site backup as well.
