Has a lot of space. Quiet. Right after about 2mos not only did it start out with the I/O errors and write fails, the soder on the USB went so I couldn't even try to retreive information! I'm not even confident I want it RMA'd even though I have. Most significant waste of income, period.

- Does the job - Quiet- Lots of space Ƒ.81T)- Cheep- Looks good None so far. It did take five hours to transfer 350 gigs onto it. But I didn't thoughts I knew it was 5400 RPM when I purchased it. I was attempting to decide amongst this and the Iomega Pick 2TB. Each expense the identical price with no cost shipping. I was sad when I saw the day right after I received this in the mail the Iomega Select was 10$ Less expensive.Arrived at my property in two days. Thanks Newegg!

Low-cost for the size. USB port broke and is now inside the drive. There is no way to take the drive apart to repair this as far as I can tell. I don't remember ever forcing the USB jack into the port. At seems it was just a week port and broke off. Drive is slow.

I have 4 of these, all are filled to the max. Lots of large files, all with MD5s. Each and every now and then I hook them up and test the MD5s. They all function just fine. No problems whatsoever. None

Cons:You cannot swap the drive for an other one if you ever wanted to, because the enclosure is sealed.

Pros:Good bang for buck, rock solid.
Comment:
I bought it over a year ago it was $120 at that time. I had troubles previously with some others externals ubs drives. Having the enclosure power suply failing after a few months was'nt rare. With this one i have no such troubles.

Trustworthy, well packed, priced proper, and for the quantity of storage, a great value. I have 5 of these now, and everybody has been and continues to be a trustworthy performer. Not the fastest, but great sufficient for me as a Mass Storage device. Excellent for backups and other substantial amounts of storage exactly where lightning speed is not a requirement. none. Relating to interface speed, USB two. is good sufficient for now. I don't see USB three. nor SATA three. as mature adequate but. I wanted substantial amounts of trustworthy storage for a low cost, and this WD Elements 2TB drive has it. I also wanted a drive that sits flat on the operate surface, like this 1, so as to keep away from the Gyroscopic Effect from prematurely wearing out the Key Drive Bearings for drives mounted on their side. I am very pleased with and highly advise these WD Element 2TB drives.

I had my data backed up elsewhere.NewEgg did appropriate by me both instances. That is why I am a long time consumer. Thanks NewEgg. my RMA drive from my 1st dead WD Components 2TB HD was sent back right now useless with all my information on it. I did one method back up with WD Components Š.Then out of nowhere the WD Elements became invisible. It was plugged in the lights were on but nowhere to be observed in my system. I switched computers, cables to 3 fully distinct set ups and the same results the WD Components was invisible. I sent it back for a refund. Get as far away from this as you can. This is the single worst pc item I have had in 15 years in computers.

Great item, Western digital in no way fails. Basic style, sleek, and no extra computer software to complicate factors. Comes ready to use, however it constantly helps to do a rapid format. Attractive design, quiet, and rapidly. Wall plug is a huge big, adapt and overcome. Can't go incorrect. It's two TB of space prepared to use.

Incredibly QuietRapid Light is on the back of the unit.Died following 3 months with no warning This drive just stopped working soon after 3 months. The lights come on but it is not recognized by the personal computer. Tried it on several other computers. DEAD! 2tb is a lot of information to shed. Fortunately, the most current backup wasn't that lengthy ago.

Cons:No on-off switchPlastic case

Pros:Cost effective (then, NOT now)
Comment:
Bought it several months ago to serve as storage for my media player. It costed less than one hundred then, so very cost effective. Two major drawbacks though. First, there's no on-off switch on the unit. Second, the case is plastic, so not very effective in dissipating heat from the hard drive.

A lot of space in a a lot smaller location than the MyBook's. Absolutely nothing genuinely except USB2 is so slow, but that's hardly the drive's fault. I've owned two of these for more than a year now. They have run non-quit for all that time. Every single day 1 is cloned to the other and they serve as both my media drive (Movies and Tv shows) and my backup drive. If and when I run out of space on them, I will absolutely get two far more. Hopefully the style will stay for a though. I like how they look and stack.

Bought it inexpensive, tons of space. Far more space than most folks need for a lengthy time. Very quiet. Fast, backed up roughly 350 gigs in a couple of hours. The LED data indicator light is on the back of the case. Would be greater if it was in front.

I'm very impressed with the physical size of this drive. It feels like it's just barely larger than a 3.5" drive. The price is absolutely right, 2TB external for less than most 2TB internals can't be beat. None so far. I've often been a fan of Western Digital, and they once more have not disappointed me. This is 1 of the much more simple and best external drives I've ever had. I routinely use 1 of their 1TB NAS for backup, and one of their 500GB MyBook USB drives for HD movie storage for my HTPC. Excellent brand!

Lots of storage for my movies. Runs rapid (well not literally). They didn't over do the activity LED, which is a plus.Nevertheless.... NO energy switch. It's annoying getting to generally unplug it from the outlet when turning it off.Sides are glossy so it is uncomplicated to decorate with your finger prints. That's why I stay away from becoming so touchy with it. Anti fab-u-lous.

Pros:-cheap 2TB in this crysis time
Comment:
bought it to replace a slowly dying 2TB WD black. Since the price of this one is insane ($399), even for the WD green ($229) i searched for cheapest option and this one is.I just removed the enclosure and put in one of my hotswap bay.Not a bad deal for an internal storage even if it's not very fast. Western Digital Elements 2TB 3.5" Desktop External Hard Drive
Cons:-No SATA port (means that we're stuck with a USB 2.0 port)

Pros:-Quite large storage space (2TB)-Operates absolutely quietly-Automatically turns off/on depending on whether it is connected or not.
Comment:
Excellent hard drive. Works like a charm. It's easy and simple to use. Just plug in the power and plug in the usb port to your computer and it immediately starts up. No bloatware preloaded to 'help' you manage your HDD or anything like that. It absolutely quiet due to the case. Sometimes I wonder if it is on or not! It's a pity that it doesn't come with a SATA port for connection, which means that if you've got large files to transfer to it, it would take longer over USB 2.0 speeds.

๟.99 @ Target Black Friday event. They replaced two failed units with out a single question asked as I had the original box and receipt. Fast when applied with SATA in my Computer. 5400 RPM unit quiet and cool operating temperature. Two out of three units failed so far. 7200 RPM unit was @ 55 degrees F though being written to in a 75 degree F workplace for whole two hours. Slow USB two. write speed. I wish it had a energy button and dimmer energy LED. Original unit was utilized a Western Digital Caviar Black WD2001FASS 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA. That stand-alone HDD retails for 赉.99 and carries a five-year WD warranty. I encountered 136 negative sectors and information loss right after two months. I filled it with 200 Gb and applied it for back up when a week. Next two units utilized the Western Digital 2 TB Caviar Green SATA Intellipower 64 MB Cache @ 5400 RPM's (retail at Newegg for ๩.99 w/ 3-year warranty as stand-alone HDD). First 1 died directly out of the box and I have employed the third unit for one week now...wish me luck.

Wonderful drive for the cost. I purchased 4 of these over the past couple of years. The only real con about this drive is the noise it makes. It is louder than my computer. This is why I took away 1 egg. I do recomend these to pals and family members.

Not a poor price for a unit that worked perfectly out of the box. Tons of space! Employing it as a backup drive and storage for all my media, and I can't picture the day I'll run out of room on it. None that I can believe of. I haven't noticed any of the strange noise difficulties other critiques have mentioned, and the blinking LED doesn't bother me either. Get it.
