Pros: Amazing price and feel sturdy.

Not sure if they're clearing these out to get ready for the USB 3.0 drives. Great deal nonetheless.

Western Digital Elements 2TB 3.5" Desktop External Hard Drive
Cons: No on/off power switch

Pros: Great price & Huge Storage
Comment:
I had an Iomega external hard drive and it was junk - it lasted to the end of the warranty period plus a week and died. Lost all of the backup - opened up the Iomega hard drive and found out it was a Seagate drive - every drive that fails on me has been a Seagate - I have never had a problem with WD drives - of which I own 11.

Western Digital Elements 2TB 3.5" Desktop External Hard Drive
Cons: Can't make coffee.

Pros: Square, black, could hit an intruder with it.
Comment:
For the sale price I don't think a person could get a better deal for an external storage device of the 2 TB nature. I do like how it automatically shuts down with my comp, and starts up with my comp.

Western Digital Elements 2TB 3.5" Desktop External Hard Drive
Cons: Huge! But that's maybe half a weakness? Having to plug it to the wall may be necessary, but it's an inconvenience.

Pros: Fast enough,Reliable,Works right our of the box for pc/macbook,Great storage for the price.
Comment:
Great external Harddrive, got it on sale for an even greater storage to price ratio. Worked right out of the box like a charm, pcs/macbooks have no issues sharing and using it.Only negative would be having to plug this unit to the wall, which is only a very small inconvenience really.Supplied USB cable is of decent length unlike smaller WD external I had purchased in the past, ty WD!

Western Digital Elements 2TB 3.5" Desktop External Hard Drive
Cons: none

Pros: large capacity, fairly quiet, runs cool
Comment:
Not much to say about this particular external drive. It works perfectly. It sleeps when my computer is not in use and wakes almost instantly when called on. It's read/write speeds are acceptable for a usb 2.0 device. I like how little space it takes up compared to two other external drives I own and it runs cool without the aid of a fan.

Cons: None

Pros: Design, Cables, Packaging
Comment:
Own many of these in varying sizes. Love the simple design and no front led. The small one on the back can be easily covered without worry. Have not had one fail over 2-3 years of owning this style of drive.

Western Digital Elements 2TB 3.5" Desktop External Hard Drive
Cons: None

Pros: Small sizeLooks niceReally quietGood speed
Comment:
I bought this at a really low price during boxing week and I am impressed with the price I bought it at! I bought this to put movies that I have on them so that I could watch it on my TV whenever I want or whenever my family wants to. I would recommend this to anyone who needs a small but also good size(2tb) external hard drive.

Western Digital Elements 2TB 3.5" Desktop External Hard Drive
Cons: No power off switchConstant blinking power LED

Pros: Very quietNice large capacity
Comment:
Got this a few months ago for storing movies and video files. Love how quiet it is, can't even hear it spinning (lots of times I thought it wasn't spining at all). The blinking power LED in the back is pointless and annoying. Wish it had a separate power off switch instead of having to pull the USB cable. All-in-all its a great drive.

Cons: -No light indicating that it's on

Pros: -High capacity-Very Quiet-Doesn't heat up
Comment:
Great product, snatched it on boxing day for $80. This external USB HDD is super quiet, unlike some other external drives out there. It's hard to tell when it is turned on however, since there is no light indications whatsoever.

Western Digital Elements 2TB 3.5" Desktop External Hard Drive
Cons: Limited warranty 1 year (vs 3 year for bare drive)Plastic vs aluminum housing

Pros: Cheap when on saleQuiet, discrete styling
Comment:
Decent deal when on sale, otherwise, I'd get my own enclosure and drive for: - Better thermal management (aluminum case keeps the drive more cool - Longer warranty - Option for eSATA connectivity (who cares about USB3)

Western Digital Elements 2TB 3.5" Desktop External Hard Drive
Cons: Indicator light on back of case

Pros: Really Quiet - actually silent.nice unobtrusive black case$89.99 on sale :o)
Comment:
Holds lots of data/movies and can stream back movies without stuttering.Indicator light on back of case where cables plug in - should have been in the front for easier viewing. Light is bright white, a sutle blue/red light for reading or writing on the front would better fit with a Home Theatre system.

Western Digital Elements 2TB 3.5" Desktop External Hard Drive
Cons: None to speak of

Pros: Sleek, simple, effective
Comment:
Picked this up about a month ago on sale for ~140, and haven't regretted it for a moment. Plenty of extra storage, comes pre-formated and ready to go. Worked without any trouble on a Windows 7 64 bit system and on an Ubuntu 10.04 install.Looks great, seems very well built, sturdy. Very simple both in looks and functionality. No power button or switch, and has an idle or sleep mode so it powers down and doesn't waste power when not in use - means it takes a few seconds to spin up when in this mode, but for an external drive, I really don't see that as a problem.

Cons: usb 2.0

Pros: Smallruns coolsleek black
Comment:
with usb 3.0 out it would've been really nice to see a usb 3.0 version of these but you can't really complain, It gets the job done. I currently have two 2TB versions of this and two 1.5TB versions of this stacked on top of each other on my desk and they don't get to hot at all and run quite smooth. Great buy if your in need of storage.

They're great. I've had them for 6 months now and it works like a charm. The only downside is the spin up from idle, but that doesn't make any difference considering it's an external storage!

Western Digital Elements 2TB 3.5" Desktop External Hard Drive
Cons: Don't see any right now.

Pros: Quiet and Cool
Comment:
Bought it for $150ish at bestbuy. It's really quiet compared to the MyBook which is also by Western Digital. You barely notice that it's running except for the small light that blinks at the back (white) which tells that it has power and is being read/written. No problems so far, but only time can tell. The price is just average unless it is on sale.
