Excellent drive for the price. No read errors, incredibly rapid write instances. Did have some difficulty finding the drive to be recognized. But, at some point fixed it. Windows 7 has an update for this drive if it often doesn't study partitions appropriately. Good drive, but not encouraged if buying as a widespread user. Really excellent drive for IT specialists.

Steady performance from day one particular.Quite quiet, or at least quiet sufficient to be overshadowed by fans/optical drives.5.9 WEI, which is, I think, the highest most will see with a HDD not in RAID. Comparatively tiny capacity. Process drive in my last create, and it has impressed me greatly. While the capacity might not *seem* so slight, 320 GB goes quite rapidly if you're not cautious. I would *still* advise this drive to anyone even in the face of other drives with SATA 3 and 64 MB caches.

I truly like these and have been putting them in all my latest Builds. Excellent for striking a balance between power consumption and speed, at 320gb the average house user has a lot of storage. In particular these days when more and more people Archive their files in the Cloud or onto external devices I wish it ran a little cooler but I don't want to sacrifice speed If your looking to generate Low Power with Excellent Overall performance Workstations, or General Objective custom builds this is wonderful and even much better for HTPC as those instances have tight fits with tiny air circulation as the objective is for the technique to be quiet but to remain cool. This does the trick.

Inexpensive for the amount of starage and nonetheless functioning right after 10 months. Excellent drive for begining builders. Not as fast as I expected it to be have it set as Raid 1 and is slower than the WD 150 Gig Black 16 Mb cahce I had installed. Worth the money for Very first time construct

-Quite swift-Low-cost for the space i required Apparently it's failing on me. I installed windows xp SP2 on it and couple days later, all my data is erased out of nowhere and i get a bsod (unmoutable boot device). No a single else in my household even dares to touch my personal computer or is even capable taking into consideration im final out the home and initial back in. So i reinstall and shake off the fact that i lost 40gb of newly installed games and music(didn't have it that long up and operating). But couple days immediately after the reinstall, it takes place Once again. So i ask about and apparently i have a failng hard drive on my hands. Will definately either get a refund and go abit higher in the WD model range (black) or just continue with seagate. Like i stated in pros. Quite very good drive i can bare with if it didnt fail so considerably.

Quiet. Economical. Runs cool. Excellent one particular-platter drive. The 16mb cache is a plus.Absolutely no challenge installing the drive, exact same physical size as my old 80g WD it replaced, slid in case perfectly. None. Employing Ubuntu Lucid on this drive, ext4 file program. Straightforward, smooth set up. Replaced a four-year-old SATA drive that was nearly 75% complete, under no circumstances believed I'd ever come close to 40gigs. Ha, occasions have altered! Good to have disk breathing space once again.FYI, drive I received looks identifcal to the one particular in newegg closeup pic with a manufact. date of late April 2010.

I've bought about 150 of these. For the most element, rapidly, silent, and cool to the touch. Of about 150, I've had about five go bad. RMAs are rapid and uncomplicated even though. WD frequently sends out new drives as replacements but not always. Just a very good overall difficult drive for common workplace computers. One of the coolest-operating drives I've ever employed.SINGLE-PLATTER likely has a lot to do with that.

Runs rapidly and quiet. Not an SSD, and doesn't bring me coffee!! I was a small skeptical on receiving this based on the mixed testimonials. I'm pleasantly surprised Windows 7 Pro 64 loaded from disk to desktop in about 18 minutes. Working with this as a standalone drive for OS and games. WD does it once more!! Couldn't be happier!!

low cost my drive failed in a raid, sent it back and they sent a re-certified drive as a replacement. Much less than a year later it failed. So for their warranty they send you a defective drive that doesn't last a year. A low price dosn't matter a lot when the drive fails, I've had a lot of WD drives fail lately. I run four raid ten configurations in three computers and these drives have been dropping like flies. I've had five drives fail in the last 60 days. Getting in raid 10 setups they are simple to replace with no loss of data, but WD seems to be substantially lower good quality these days. I did go to the black version drives and they seem to run a lot cooler and have not failed however.

*Great drive, well even though it was alive anyway.ꕐgb (What I was seeking for was to suffice)*Budget drive *Western Digital quality brand/customer service*Warranty is pretty very good for this drive. *Mine didn't withstand the test of time. I've upgraded to a WD 750GB Caviar Black which ought to run nicely, hopefully it'll withstand the test of time. Glad the drive didn't die ideal immediately after the warranty. Newegg is usually quick to ship, Western Digital's client service is very trusted. Sent my drive in for a replacement, hope it'll be functional.

I have bought numerous dozen WD HD's more than the years for my builds, and have *never* had a failure with them, unlike some others.... The no cost Acronis-based software obtainable at WD's internet site is also great for quicly and quickly transferring drives and carrying out backups. Added up, with a excellent cost, dependability, zero failure rate (for me), and faultless operation, look no additional, WD is the a single to buy. None whatsoever. See above.

Low-cost, supposedly solid drive Never ever got to discover out if it was good or not. Initial drive I received failed on the second day of operation. Second drive failed right out of the box, despite NewEgg supplying insanely excellent physical protection for shipping. Decided to get a refund instead of a replacement - I consider I'm going to attempt a Samsung this time about. WD's good quality handle is undoubtedly slipping. Their high end drives are most likely okay, but their low finish stuff has horrid QC.Props to NewEgg at least. Quick replacement on the very first, quite quickly refund on the second. Even if the product is poor, at least the service isn't.
