Western Digital SE16 320GB SATA2 7200RPM 16MB 8.9MS Hard Drive OEM
Cons:Only 3yr warranty?500gb better bang for buck now?

Pros:Very quietQuite fastModerate capacity
Comment:
Had mostly been using Seagates, but extremely disappointed with them quality, noise wise as of late. Took a chance on getting the single platter, which I did, these are plenty fast enough and quite quiet save for occaisonally pick up some seek noise. Got 320gb for $58 on anniv. sale, not bad, but 500gb have now come down!

Western Digital SE16 320GB SATA2 7200RPM 16MB 8.9MS Hard Drive OEM
Cons:- None so far (except with the jumper but that's only with old Mobo)

Pros:- Very quiet
Comment:
Bought to add more storage to a quite old rig and had only one problem : the old rig was Sata1 and this drive is Sata2 and it was taking 10 mins to boot because of the mobo-and-hdd-auto-find-the-right-speed, had to add a jumper to force the HDD to act like Sata1 and everything was booting fast after.Much much more quiet than the Maxtor 40GB it replaced !!! (In my experience WD were more quiet than Seagate)

Cons:- none

Pros:+ Price+ Quiet+ Speed
Comment:
I got this drive for a budget build and it is awesome. It's really nice and quiet in an Antec Sonata case. You can barely hear the seeks and etc. Luckily I got the new revision so it comes with only 1 platter with the new 320gb density platters.

Western Digital SE16 320GB SATA2 7200RPM 16MB 8.9MS Hard Drive OEM
Cons:None

Pros:QuietFastReliable
Comment:
The 320 GB drives don't seem very appealing anymore, when similar drives with 500 GB are selling for $69 (the WD SE with 500 GB was on sale last week on NCIX.com for $69.99). WD makes quality hard drives and the SE16 320GB is no exception. I've owed countless WD drives over the years, and I've had very few problems with them. I don't think the price for this drive will drop significantly, but it would be a better idea to keep an eye on the 640 GB and the 750 GB models. They would be worth picking up when they fall around the $60-$70 range.

Pros:WD name, sata, quiet
Comment:
Many people are either WD or Seagate fans, I guess I gravitate more towards WD. These are great hard drives and haven't had a problem with one yet. Nice and quiet and reliable. Can't wait for the new 640gb hard drives to go on sale and have an excuse to buy one. Lately I have been putting these 320gb drives in all my builds as they are usually available for $60.

Hard drive works well. Moderate size hard drive for the average downloader. fit the price range and was was bang for the buck at the time. Sata connections make cable management less annoying.

Just a solid all around HDD. Runs as fast as just about any hard drive these days, and most important to me it's nice and quiet. Much more quiet than the Seagate I own of the same capacity.

I've bought this for external storage of picture.I've putted it inside : "Antec MX-100 Aluminum 3.5IN SATA Hard Drive Enclosure" and it's being working perfectly. For a limited budget you still get a good ratio cents/Gb.Definitely recommended for budget PC.

Western Digital SE16 320GB SATA2 7200RPM 16MB 8.9MS Hard Drive OEM
Cons:Slow seek time but I didn't notice any noticeable real world performance slow downs.

Pros:Very quiet and light weight.
Comment:
I am satisfied with the purchase and the performance of the HDD. The only real down side to this is the fact that there are TWO versions of this drive. One is single platter (the newer revision) and another is the older revision with multi-platter. If NCIX can phase out the older revision and guarantee customers with new single platter, this HDD is a highly recommended product.

I am satisfied with this purchase. The drive is quiet and performs as expected. I had to initialize it first in vista before I could acces it( a first for me), but it wasn't difficult. The operating temperature of this drive is as i expected, running between 29C - 33C. I would buy this drive again. This review was modfied by poster @ 04-02-08 04:49 PM

I was looking for a cheap second 320GB drive and for $73 it was a good choice. With the WD 500GB drives being on sale for $89 it is probably a better choice to spend the extra $17 and get the 500GB drive. All in all you won't be sorry about purchasing this.

This drive is my boot disk. Very fast, although my last desktop use the older ATA bus. Has run without a hick since day one, and runs cool and quiet. Being mounted in a quiet case (rubber drive mounting) most likely helps in that regard mind you.
