Dependable. Beginning to show its age...I guess? Lately upgraded drives to a caviar black and it gets significantly much better transfer speeds on HD Tune. This drive averages 64 mb/s transfer rates with 96. mb/s burst with 15,960 hours on it: pretty decent for 3 years, I guess. Difficult Drive hasn't failed, I just wanted one thing more rapidly. If you're not into pc gaming or video editing, or one thing of the like, this drive should be much more than adequate.

Quickly, inexpensive small difficult drive. Last 3 years then died. I bought this difficult drive back in March of 2007, and a month ago it lastly died. It had a three year warranty, and died following the warranty was up, hah.

Put it in an external enclosure just use it for a backup, hasn't failed but. see other thoughts, then you decide. Started to get LOUD following 1.5 years, 3 year warranty. I'm sending it back to WD for repair.

It's a Western Digital.Rapid drive. None. Had this for almost two years, making use of it for my /home partition with OpenSUSE Linux. No issues with drive. Nice and fast. I've been working with WD drives for what appears like eons and have never had a drive go poor on me.

i have used this hdd for more than a year and have had no problems at all.rapidly for pricecan not hear the drive more than my loud case fans Ɠ 12v 80mm fans) none this drive is plenty rapidly for most users, you would be superior off obtaining a affordable (but reputable) hdd so that you can devote your spending budget on more crucial components such as the cpu. if you spent ten$ more on a hdd, you might get four$ a lot more hdd performance and in all probability 1$ much more system efficiency.-a faster cpu would give you far better returncontrary to widespread belief, a quicker hdd does not improve gaming performance. it will make games load faster but thats it. the only time it will raise gaming efficiency is if you dont have enough ram and your method is employing virtual memory (using the hdd as ram).... but in that case your already at single digit frame rates....

sata, quiet, rapid wd backup software. Had to reformat master drive and wd's acronis? sw almost lost it all. make sure you have a sata cable of adequate length. I measured mine and thought I had a superior #. Subsequent time I'll go 2" longer. I'd use wd's drivers and discover cost-free backup sw rather than the backup sw they have at the support site.

It works! The drive is quite incredibly quiet compared to the samsung drive it replaced(bad sectors). The drive is rather fast and would most likely do nicely in a raid setup. Haven't had a difficulty with WD yet. None truly Went in a hp pavilion a1410n. Works like a charm.

Not substantially to say genuinely. I purchased two, they each function as expected. BUT...I am surprised at how quiet and cool they run. These may well be as quiet and cooler operating than the WD green drives I own. That pesky label blocks my reflection from the leading of the drive.

This excellent modem works very smoothly, quietly, and surely. Western Digital Blue drives are wonderful for my uses and speed is correct up to needs. Recognized by Windows 7 correct out of the box, required only formatting. My op system is Windows 7 64. None I believe most bare drive troubles I have read about in these Newegg reviews are triggered when the drives are formatted whilst not being connected directly to the SATA cabling from the motherboard, for example, in USB external drive enclosures. This adds extra items that can go wrong. I usually install new bare drives directly to the motherboard, format, then, if utilizing as an external drive, remove the newly formatted drive and install in the enclosure or wherever. I use Fast Format with no issues.

Product seams to be performing nicely. It is a replacement of a 160GB WD drive that is about 5yrs old. None at this time Because the drive was recently replaced it is challenging to say the excellent of the drive. Time and use will only tell. I leave my computers on 24 x 7 so immediately after 5 plus years on the prior drive I am extremely pleased with WD drives.

I've bought 5 of these drives for five different builds and they all work excellent. They are quiet and they function adequately in spending budget office systems. At this price point, they are challenging to beat. None. We have network storage for most data, so they are used pretty lightly. The "Blue" models are not WD's premier drive, so I'm not very sure what men and women are expecting. If you want a premium drive, go appear at WD VelociRaptor or RE4 drives. In regards to DOA's, I would have to guess that the cause of so a lot of DOA difficult drives has to be rough parcel handling and not inferior item. I've worked in a warehouse and have noticed how packages are handled. A brown box is just a box to the couriers and it gets tossed around, no matter whether it has a 躔 worth of computer parts or ŭ worth of washers. I uncover it difficult to believe that hard drive producers' High quality Assurance Deptartments are so incompetent that all these dead drives are leaving the factories this way. Hard drives are extremely fragile pieces of equipment... blame the handling, not the drive.

I have no concept. It was dead on arrival. It was DEAD ON ARRIVAL. I've in no way ever had this occur with a WD prior to, but apparently it is fairly typical with this particular drive. WD seems to be slipping as of late. Their RMA procedure is nonetheless streamlined and you will get a replacement but still, wouldn't it be good if these drives weren't failing in the initial spot? For the first time in a whilst, I'm contemplating switching brands for storage media.

I purchased this as a replacement for my SSD 30GB drive in my i7 box. The SSD had Windows 7 on it and I had a 1TB RAID 1 setup for storage/apps. 30GB just wasn't cutting it, and on top of that I always had problems with installing applications and load times. Booting 7 quicker than POST was excellent, but it was just a dog. This drive changed all that. None.

WD is kinda my thing, I was aiming for a raptor but I had to settle for this seeing my budget. I'll come back to you on that, I haven't started my "tests" yetHope I dont burn out my hdd in the process Im having problems acquiring sci/sata raid drivers that had been required to use the hdd considering that I upgraded from a ide, as far as I know anyways. Nicely I did get that from the original windows disk but still minor errors such as that in the device manager bug me.

This hard drive is good for its price, simply because of its speed. I would suggest everyone seeking for a affordable 320gb difficult drive. NONE. When reformatted the HD size shows as 298 GB, but that is all difficult drives are, so not a issue.
