This Hard drive has been great! The transfer speeds are nice, and it makes little noise and no vibrations. I would definitely get another one of these sometime. Only regret is that I didn't get a bigger size...

Bought this because it was the cheapest drive I could find for a cheap build. Does the job well, although just after I bought it a cheaper one went on sale with more size.

Cons:A tad slow

Pros:Cheap price but still a W.D.
Comment:
These are great for cheap builds where internet or word processing are the major concern. They are not fast but for the price who cares. 320 gigs more than enough for most builds anyways.

a nice alternative to the 640gb 32ms version for now..i was little surprised to see the lowest score be 5.9 ..but o well..ill be jumping on the 640gb when they make users buy windows 7 which is a great great OS that i cant say enough good things about.. Cons:none so far

Pros:CheapQuiet
Comment:
This was the cheapest 320GB I could find. I don't really care about HDD speed, but it seems pretty fast. One thing I did notice is it's a lot quieter than my old Seagate 7200.10 drive.I would consider WD to be the best HDD manufacturer, especially lately. They seem to be quiet, reliable, and consistently produce great drives with few problems.Recommended.

Cons:None

Pros:CostDurabilityWarranty
Comment:
Purchased 2 of these for a new build. I don't need lots of storage but I need reliability and all my previous drives were WD's and only 1 failed. WD replaced it under warranty and were very quick to ship the replacement to minimize down time (From obtaining an RMA to receiving the replacement was less than 7 days).I now have a policy. I always have 2 HDD's, with 1 of them being a clone of the other (cloned every couple of weeks depending on data changes), so if the main HDD ever fails again, no downtime. Why backup to removable media ?WD has always been good to me.

Cons:One failed within 10 minutes.

Pros:Noise, price, speed.
Comment:
I've built 3 (I think) computers with this same drive now. I had one fail almost immediately while installing windows, other than that: no problems. If they are going to fail I prefer them to go right away anyways.Other than that they have worked perfectly.Great for people who do not need crazy speed or lots of storage but still want WD quality.Minus one star since I had one of the four drives fail. I have used dozens of other WD drives and this was the first failure. This review was modfied by poster @ 04-20-09 01:32 AM

Western Digital SE16 320GB SATA2 7200RPM 16MB 8.9MS Hard Drive OEM
Cons:None, so far....

Pros:Quiet, good price.
Comment:
Finally got this installed in my bro-in-law's computer, after sitting here for almost a week, and so far this drive seems reasonably quiet, and appears to work fine. Didn't do any speed tests on it, but it was certainly an upgrade from the 80GB drive that now exists as his D: drive. Obviously, longevity, and reliability are yet to be determined, but at this point in time it seems as though WD is the current brand of hard drive to get. Another plus, is that with a price match, the cost of this drive was excellent.

Bought this over a year ago with the rest of my PC. Runs good for a cheap drive, had no issues with it. But it's SLOW....I've learned my lesson, last time I buy the cheapest drive I could find :)I give it a 2.5 Barely Satisfactory.

I bought the ATA WD 80GB 1yr ago - nice drive, also quiet and runs cool too. Surprised that this drive has twice the throughput of my 80GB, according to HD Tach.

Western Digital SE16 320GB SATA2 7200RPM 16MB 8.9MS Hard Drive OEM
Cons:-Poor GB/$ ratio compared to larger models

Pros:-Quiet spin/seek!-Cool-Fast (single-platter + NCQ)
Comment:
So I picked up a few of these to replace older failing WD drives and I'm not at all surprised with the quality & performance. I had recently switched to Seagate due to better warranty, but I quickly ran back to WD when they started having firmware issues. Despite being the same physical & logical size, these are the new single-platter version so they're (on average) slightly faster (also has NCQ). What really surprised me is how quiet they are especially compared to the Black edition; they're almost as quiet as my Green 1TBs but slightly faster. Overall for the price you can't go wrong, high quality & will work great for just about any purpose.

Cons:None.

Pros:Got the one platter version, as noted by some in the forum great speeds, quiet and just overall solid build.
Comment:
It's a good drive but at 320GB it's really past it's prime. the 500GB and 1TB drives are really in now and just shelling out a little money can get you much more GB. Regardless, for the average user it's a great buy without going into excess.
