Western Digital WD15EADS Caviar Green 1.5TB Hard Drive SATA 32MB Cache 3.5IN OEM
Cons:Only 3 Year Warranty
Pros:Amazing PriceHuge Amount of StorageWD Quality Comment:
I bought this to store my video files and I can't complain at all. It's a massive drive and at the price, you can't find a better deal. For anyone looking for a storage drive, look no further and get this drive. Western Digital is top notch and they're the only company I'll buy hard drives from now. Highly recommend and I'm sure I'll be buying more in the future. |

Western Digital WD15EADS Caviar Green 1.5TB Hard Drive SATA 32MB Cache 3.5IN OEM
Cons:Honestly, none that I can think of.
Pros:Quiet, lots of storage, doesn't run hotter than most. It's a Western Digital Comment:
Well....WD has done it again! I love this drive. Run's quietly, and smoothly (can't even hear it). I bought this Green drive (it's my 2nd). First one I put in my Tower, this one is used STRICTLY for Video backups of my Home movies (90 DVD's) & Photos (+- 8000), as well as Videos from my Digital Camera. Plenty of room on this drive, and so far, NO ISSUES whatsoever. I figure once all is in this drive, I should have close to 1 TB left for whatever I decide to put in it. For the record, once I do what I gotta do with this drive, it'll sit in the Bank's deposit box, for "just in case". So to be fair in this review, it won't be tested to the max, like the one's in my system now. I have three WD drives in my system, ALL WD's, and ONE Green drive 1TB WD10EADS-00L5B1 being used for Video files as I create them. The other 2 are WD6400AAKS-00A7B0 (Photo Storage & Games), WD2500KS-00MJB0 (Boot Drive), and I couldn't be more pleased. Keep up the good work Western Digital! |

at least one didnt fail
Comment:
I ordered 2 of these for a home server. I transferred over 2 tb of data to them and after 2 days one failed. What a waste of time. I guess you can never tell, this is after all the first hard drive I ever had fail on me. |

Western Digital WD15EADS Caviar Green 1.5TB Hard Drive SATA 32MB Cache 3.5IN OEM
Cons:Not as fast as a Velociraptor (but two of these together cost as much as the Velociraptor and make less noise and give you ten times the storage. The usual false advertising. The label says 1.5 TB but you get 1392 GB. 1.5 TB means 1536 GB (1.5*1024). If you're wondering where 10% of your space has gone, it's not gone, it's just a marketing trick.
Pros:Perfect for storage. Comment:
I got two of these recently and replaced two older WD5000AAKS drives. I copied a bunch of videos (43GB) from another drive (a WD7500AAKS). It took 8 times less than copying the same files from the same WD7500AAKS to a WD5000AAKS. Benchmarks based on HD Tune promised about 3 times more speed, but I got 8 times. Go figure... I'm not complaining, that's for sure. Also, the drives are very quiet. No idea about reliability, it's too early to tell, but in general I've had WD drives for the past 9 years and haven't had any problems with them so I'm optimistic. |

Western Digital WD15EADS Caviar Green 1.5TB Hard Drive SATA 32MB Cache 3.5IN OEM
Cons:none so far, but heard that sleep mode might fail the drive
Pros:Big capacity, low price and low power consumption Comment:
For that price I seriously can't complain. it's going in my HTPC as the secondary drive so it fits in perfectly. I did hear that it is recommended to not let the drive go into sleep mode as this might cause the drive to fail |

Western Digital WD15EADS Caviar Green 1.5TB Hard Drive SATA 32MB Cache 3.5IN OEM
Cons:5400rpm
Pros:Best GB/$ ratioQuiet as frakEnergy efficientFaster than older 7200rpm drives Comment:
I bought two of these to increase my storage capacity (one in my server, one in my external enclosure for backup). They're both very quiet, but one of them vibrates much more than the other. I can barely feel tell by touch whether the 2nd one is on or not. Seeks are pretty much inaudible. I ran one through HD Tach and the graph went from 100MB/s at the beginning of the drive down to 50MB at the end. That's pretty decent for a 5400rpm drive. And yes, it's a 5400rpm drive. If anyone tells you different they are a liar. |

Western Digital WD15EADS Caviar Green 1.5TB Hard Drive SATA 32MB Cache 3.5IN OEM
Cons:- Slow
Pros:- Silent- Cheap- Large capacity- Good warranty and support- 32 MB cache memory- Low power consumption Comment:
I bought this drive for backup purposes. This drive is perfect for someone who is looking for a silent and large hard drive. I would not install Windows or any games on this drive due to its relatively limited speed. I wanted to buy a 2TB drive but the price difference was significant. I now own three WD drives: 300GB Velocitaptor, 1TB caviar black and 1.5TB caviar green. |

Cons:none so far... but would be nice if it was faster... but then it wouldn't be as quiet or green :)
Pros:Size, price per GB, quiet, low power consumption, decent read/write speeds. Comment:
Replaced a WD6400AAKS with this for storage, transfer speeds from the WD6400AAKS to the WD15EADS were approximately 62 MB/sec when transferring large files.Looking to buy a second for additional storage when needed, possibly for a NAS.Highly recommended for storage purposes. |

WD Caviar Green 1.5TB
Comment:
I have a number of WD Green drives in size varying from 1TB and 1.5TB, and I have no problems. They work well, are not noisy and do not produce too much heat. Mine are active 24-7 in a WHS from TranquilPC and I have no complaints. They just work and work well. Five stars |

Pros:Quiet. large capacity Comment:
Bought this one sale for my DNS-323. It does it's job and for the price I can't complain. I don't need the performance of a higher spin drive. I have had good experiences with WD drives but I keep backups of everything just to be safe. Will buy WD again when I upgrade to larger drives in the future. |

Product Purchased, questions unanswered
Comment:
I bought this drive over the comparable Seagate drive, only due to the negative reviews of the seagate drive, since this had so little information (i wanted to know if it was 7400rpm or 5600 but never got an answer). in anycase, it's in the computer and works like a champ. |

I've never had a WD melt or break on me. These can be a great deal when on sale, making for cheap RAID. So they aren't a high performance disk? What do you expect at this price? I get what I pay for - secure, reliable storage. Would definitely buy again. |

I have used Western Digital hard drives for years because of their superior quality and this drive is no exception. This drive is very quiet. It has a 3 year warranty which is 2 years better than most other manufacturers.Western Digital is the best and you can't go wrong with this drive.
