XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 120mm Rifle CPU Cooler I5 775 AMD compatible
Cons:Installation was pretty tricky and difficult at points. Push pins were VERY tight and I had to use quite a bit of force secure them.
Pros:Performs very well. Keeping my CPU temps WAY down. Comment:
Performs beautifully. Keeping my OC'ed q9550 3.2ghz temps down to 26C idle and 42C at load. One of my friends is using the same rig I am except with the OCZ Vendetta and his temps are several degrees higher. One thing to watch out for though is the installation process. The push pins for securing it onto my intel mobo were VERY VERY tight. I could feel the mobo flex because I had to use so much force to push them in. The fan can also be difficult to mount on to the fins. The whole heatsink+fan is made and setup in such a way that would make it VERY difficult if not impossible to remove/replace should you ever have to... so make sure you get it right the first time lol. But other than that, performance is solid. |

Cons:HDT system requires a different method of TIM application
Pros:Excellent coolingAttractive designNot too loud Comment:
Great cooler for the price and dropped my load temperatures on my AMD 720 by ~20C. Installation was abit of a pain with the AM2/3 retention bracket. Not sure why, but I had a bit more trouble than the stock heatsink. Nonetheless, it went on after a bit of sweating and cursing. Excellent value. |

XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 120mm Rifle CPU Cooler I5 775 AMD compatible
Cons:Huge heatsink is a pain in the ass to put on/off without taking out the mobo.
Pros:ICE cold, very quiet Comment:
For the price, this thing simply can't be beat. Hell, for double the price this thing can't be beat. My E3110/E8400 CPU idles at 18C with 32C cores. At idle, the fan doesn't even spin making my rig absolutely silent. Currently coupled with an Accelero S1 with a 17db fan on the vid card and an Antec 900 case and I can barely hear it. The most audible sound coming from it is the Caviar Black HD.One downside |

Cons:Glue on protective sticker difficult to remove, push-pin mounting, bottom surface not very smooth
Pros:Cools better than my Scythe Ninja did in a much smaller space (and much lighter), seems fairly well built. Price. Comment:
For the price you really can't go wrong, but the glue on the bottom is really stubborn and I wouldn't want to install it without cleaning it. Seems backwards that they'd put a 'protective' sticker to 'protect' the less than perfectly smooth surface, yet it leaves icky glue residue that's probably much worse. Really annoying.Mounted this on a Q9550 with a Thermalright bolt-on kit. Haven't pushed it yet, but it seems to be doing a good job so far.Good buy. |

Cons:Big hands make reaching for the ATX12v cable difficult
Pros:Light weight, easy fit, comfortable instructions Comment:
Works well for my Nine Hundred case, I pointed the fan towards the top exhaust. Very easy installation, except for my big hands. Intel Q6600 is the same temperature as the Asus P5Q Pro motherboard. |

Cons:push pin!! push pin!! sucks, I hated it so much, install the fan after the pins got pushed in, however push pin seems work ok after.
Pros:best cooler I`ve ever used, had 10+ after market cooler so far, this one stands out Comment:
price is right, keeps my Q8400 around 41-53 all day long(with antec p180) don`t pay more than 50 for a cooler, this one only 40 bucks, those direct touch works realy good, fan is good, those fins are really sharp, be careful !!!! |

Pros:-Cheap performance/$.-Excellent cooling Comment:
Keeping my Q8400 (3.2GHz) h 33-35 idle and 50ish during games while Lin tests h 61-62.Thermalright Bolt-thru kit worked fine, removed the pushpins from the Xigmatek's retention brackets by breaking them. Save yourself the money ($8 compared to the $15 Xigmatek kit). |

Pros:ValueLooksFunctionVersatility Comment:
I love this cooler. Great alternative to the Thermalright Utra 120. And at half the price! Awsome cooling for a great value, it can not be beat! Only drawback is that it does not come with a bolt through kit. I wish it did, however I know other models do.Great cooling at a great price! Great for a budget cooler, or for the hard core PC builder at heart! Awesome buy! |

Cons:Protective sticker on the bottom of the cooler leaves behind the sticky part of the adhesive, it's a PITA to remove all of it :(
Pros:Awesome cooler, the direct touch heatsink is keeping my Phenom II 955 at stock clock speeds at 28 Degrees!!!!! Comment:
This cooler is doing an awesome job of keeping my Phenom II 955 cool, Currently at stock clock speeds and voltages.I'm hoping to at least push this chip to 4.5Ghz using this cooler and I believe it will be possible, I tested out the stock cooler to see what it's base idle temps were and it was hovering at about 39 degrees and my current idle of 28 degrees with MX-2 paste applied I'm extremely pleased with the results so far.Unfortunately I can't give a solid 5 stars because it took some time to remove all of the adhesive from the protective sticker but it's a great product and I would use this heatsink again. |

XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 120mm Rifle CPU Cooler I5 775 AMD compatible
Cons:Installation clip only allows uni-directional installation of heatsink on socket AM2+/AM3 platforms
Pros:Relatively lightweight, includes pwm fan. Comment:
I have it on a Phenom II 710 overclocked to 3.5Ghz and this heatsink works great. The core temperatures remain below 60 deg even though i have to install the heatsink perpendicular to the back of the case so the exhaust blows upto the powersupply. |

XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 120mm Rifle CPU Cooler I5 775 AMD compatible
Cons:No backplate includedCan be tricky to install
Pros:Cooling abilityPrice! Comment:
Very impressed with this heatsink. Installed on a Q9400 in an Antec 300, getting idle 22C, load 40C. The heatsink is ice-cold to the touch! I found the stock fan a bit loud at max, so I replaced it with a Noctua P12 and it's now dead silent.Unfortunately, installation can be a bit tricky. Expect to shell out another $10 for a backplate. You'll need to destroy/pry away the pushpins to use it though. The adhesive that covers the contact surface left a sticky residue after being peeled away, so I had to scrub it off with alcohol. Also, you need to be careful when applying the thermal paste because of the uneven HDT surface (make sure you fill in the cracks first). Nonetheless, for $27 on sale, this cooler is an absolute steal. Just expect to spend a little time getting it installed perfectly. |

XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 120mm Rifle CPU Cooler I5 775 AMD compatible
Cons:Requires the expensive crossbow mounting kit to be safe. Adhesive film over the cpu contact surface left gummy residue all over the metal that had to be scrubbed off with adhesive remover prior to use!
Pros:Outstanding performance. Comment:
This is a great performing heatsink. The adhesive film used to protect the contact surface was a terrible idea and makes it neccesary to clean the thing before you can use it. Also, the way the fan attaches is a complete headache and i'm suprised I didn't bend the fins putting it on. Over all i'm not sure if i'd buy another one. Certainly not if I was new to computer building. |

Pros:PricePerformance Comment:
Very good HSF for the price. Runs as cool as TRUE and costs about half the price. Problems with pushpins though, and the fins seem kinda cheap. Was pretty difficult for me to install (being a newbie to PC building). Overall satisfied. Running on Core i7 w. crossbow mounting kit. |

Pros:Cheap, Light for it's size, Amazing cooling Comment:
Great cooler at a low price. Get the backplate kit for it, I feel much better about it than push pins. Keeps my E8400 at 30C idle and 55 load while overclocked to 4.2ghz. This review was modfied by poster @ 03-30-09 06:32 PM |

Wanted the best bang for my buck for a cooler to overclock my E8400. This beast dropped my load temps by 20 degrees! I would suggest getting a back plate though this thing is huge. |

XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 120mm Rifle CPU Cooler I5 775 AMD compatible
Cons:- Won't fit all cases- Highly recommend bolt-through kit- Poor instructions
Pros:- One of the best performing coolers on the market- Says "I'm a beast" from the window Comment:
Keep your cpu running ice cold! Test after test, the direct heatpipe coolers seem to lead the way. The price is more than reasonable and the performance is stellar. Know what you are getting into - this is not a small unit at all. It's a monster. Don't plan on shoving it into a compact little Shuttle box. It's also fairly heavy, so the included pushpins aren't really recommendable if your motherboard is vertical (as most cases are), opt for the crossbow bolt kit to keep it secure. |

Cons:wish the mounting kit came with itcheap clips
Pros:really good fan for price Comment:
this is a good fan for your cpu for the price, it is fairly quiet and keeps my cpu nice and cool, buy some mx-5 or silver thermal paste for it, stuff in the package is garbage.you need the mounting kit for this, wish it woulda came with it, and beware of which mounting kit you choose, there are 2 kits, one that supports i7 and one that doesn't, so if you bought it for a i7 build get the right mount. |

XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 120mm Rifle CPU Cooler I5 775 AMD compatible
Cons:Uses push-pins. The fan isn't silent.
Pros:As good as a very good Thermalright cooler.Cheaper too. Comment:
It's as good as those highly expensive Thermalright coolers. Just be sure to get a backplate as push-pins aren't a viable choice. The Thermalright bolt-thru kit is compatible and cheaper than Xigmatek's. The cooler somewhat works with the Thermalright fan duct. Not quite as compatible as the Thermalright coolers but good enough. A Noctua fan works great on it. |

XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 120mm Rifle CPU Cooler I5 775 AMD compatible
Cons:Size
Pros:Cooling Power Comment:
This is my first non stock CPU heatsink. I was a little shocked at the size of this cooler - it is blocking one of my ram slots (so I will only be able to put 3 dimms into my motherboard). However, after booting up I am getting an average of 13 - 16 degrees C at idle on an AMD dual core black edition cpu (I have an Antec 900 with the 200mm fan blowing directly onto the heatsink). |

Cons:stock mounting hardware is GARBAGE
Pros:quality piece, price is good, cools well, fan included is quiet and nice. Comment:
great little cooler, use it on my 9550 oc'd to 4.25ghz, get temps of about 60 degrees after 24+ hours of prime95 at 4.25ghz... no issues to speak of, but my idle temps are higher than most.. i idle at about 35 degrees. definitely buy the back plate mounting kit tho, the push pin setup is garbage. i used this kit: http://www.ncix.com/products/?sku=35795&vpn=ACK-I7361&manufacture=Xigmatekand it worked great for me. the thing is huge tho, make sure you have enough room in your case! |

XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 120mm Rifle CPU Cooler I5 775 AMD compatible
Cons:- Installation, while pretty idiot-proof, is a pain. Actually, it's just the fan. I strongly advise mounting the heatsink minus fan and rubber pins first. Screw it down (you're using the boltthru, right?) first, because that little allen wrench WILL run into problems with at least one screw on 90% of motherboards due to clearance issues. Then put the rubber things into the fan. Use needlenose pliers to pull them through. They seem weak, but they won't rip. Turn all the rubber things so the slits for the fins are oriented for installation. Now slide the fan onto the heatsink (one hand on the heatsink, please) and thread the right side on first. I used a needlenose plier to force the round bit right into its groove. Then do the other side. Rubber's flexible, but having the rubber things oriented exactly right will eliminate a lot of unnecessary frustration. Should only take about 30 seconds to mount the fan onto the heatsink, if that.
Pros:- Best bang for the buck with air cooling. Scratch that, it's the best air cooler around (more or less tied with Vendetta 2), regardless of cost. TRUE what?- Pretty quiet with stock fan.- Straight forward install. Even with the backplate it's hard to mess up. - Construction seems decent. The fins got bent during fan installation, but they are really easy to bend straight (just use your longest fingernail). Some people say the top fin is weak, but it seems fine to me. Comment:
This is the heatsink to beat right now. Not only is it the best pure air cooler around (save for a TRUE with 2 fans), it's also one of the cheapest. It's usually around 30 CAD with rebates. Come on, you can't beat that! Boltthru kit is a must because it improves cooling and prevents board warpage. |
Excellent heatsink, much better than the stock one on my AMD X2 7750. Thermal grease included but not sure of the performance as compared to Artic Silver. Installation of the fan was a nightmare, the dampeners were a pain to fit on the fan and the fan was hard to install properly on the heatsink without deforming the fins.
