nMEDIAPC ZE-C98 All-in-one USB 2.0 Card Reader with USB/IEEE 1394/e-SATA Port/HD Audio Ports
Comment:
All similar units are three.five", if you're looking for a 5.25" unit to fill a bay, this will do it. A lot of USB ports, very good to have eSATA and Firewire as well, I use them all. As oyhers have pointed out, bezel is slightly too wide to fit correctly, and mounting program stinks. Don't man-handle the unit as well substantially when installing or it may possibly just fall apart. Flimsy. Most Pc's are getting away from the 3.5" bays due to the fact floppies have gone away, so the 5.25" size eliminates the want for an adapter bracket in utilizing a 5.25" bay.

Comment:
This is a good card reader/usb panel. It reads each type of card I will need, plus 3 usb ports, plus e-sata, and 1394 which by no means have and in all probability in no way will use, plus HD audio ports which I didn't plug in mainly because I'm making use of the ones that are on the case. All of the cables are plenty long enought to reach anywhere in your case. Of course it's constructed of affordable plastic, but what do you expect? The original mounting holes don't seem to match up appropriate, so I had to make it work with a small force. I purchased this to replace a white plated 3.5" reader that usually failed on me. I wanted one particular that matched my new Antec 900 case and had plenty of ports. This one particular fit the description. I has read almost everything I've thrown at it so far with no troubles. I actually like it so far.

DOA, looked good, it fit good in my Antec300. And the little green light came on when my SD card was inserted but practically nothing was read. Even soon after switching the USB ports. This was the main issue I purchased this for. DOA, I sent it back.

Comment:
Supposed to read/write to several different memory cards. No complications mounting into my case. Will not write to SD cards on my GigaByte GA-KAVT800 Through chipset laptop or computer. When I insert a non-write protected SD card, this ZE-C98 extremely slows down my pc until it sooner or later produces an I/O error. With the SD card's write shield on, the SD card will read but not write. I tried a few various cards with the same outcome. Sony memory sticks read/write ok. I did not try other kinds of memory cards to test. I returned unit and received yet another with very same final results. Techsupport worked with me to attempt to solve. On the other hand, we could not get it fixed. It cost much more that the unit is worth to keep returning it. Perhaps incompatible with the Via chipset USB bus drivers. I have the most up-to-date drivers. I haven't tried to reload them yet.

Comment:
It all works and looks good as well. Valuable for both SDHC and common SD cards. The audio port is supposed to be compatable for AC97, but there is a challenge with my MSI k7n2 ILSr mobo. Plugging it into the motherboard header is fine, and I can use the headphone jack and mic fine, but unplugging the headphone & mic from the front does not pass the audio signals to the rear ports like they are supposed to. I believe it might have to do with the motherboards need to connect pins five & 6 and pins 9 & ten on the audio out header in order for the signal to be sent to the rear audio ports. I havent tried the SATA port. I dont have an accessible header for it.

Controls the Audio Sense signals effectively such that HD Audio motherboards will turn off rear panel sound outputs if something is plugged into the headphone jacks on this panel. Also comes with each black and sliver front panels. Didn't come with a white/beige front panel. It has been surprisingly hard to locate one particular of these which essentially implemented the HD Audio properly. I bought two other units that promised each AC97 and HD Audio compatibility but the truth was that they would perform with HD Audio except that with HD Audio the rear panel audio outputs would not be disabled when the front panel audio was in use.

I don't know if it has any cons as I can not seem to be able to hook a card reader up & get it to perform at all. This is 2nd time getting a card reader for two different computers & I closely follewed & double checked all connections & absolutely nothing on either one. I don't know but it seems to look like it would be a good one any1 able to help me?

card reader works fine excpt one prolblem. the mother board is a msi ms-7184 m-atx created for Hp invent the front panel audio connector: jaud1 has jumpers on 6Ɓ and tenƅ the plugs are as adhere to ACྜྷ &HD this setup is for when you plug the headphones in the front the rear audio jack is disable when you unplug the headphones from the front the rear audio jack is inable. no matter what plug i use it does not perform that way. when i used the HD plug i had audio in the front but when i unplug it from the front and plug it in the back i have no audio. the jack is not switching it from the front to the back. the audio chipset is a realtek ACྜྷ I had to look at the pin definition and evaluate it with other mother board's for the very same pin setup and adjust the wires to make it perform. now i have audio at both output jack's. i can use eather one particular. I contack support and told them this concern and got no assist. and it looks like they are not going to correct the prolblem in the close to futcher.

1. It functions well2. The cables are Very long which is amazing. I was easily able to plug in all the cables in my Mountain Mods UFO2 case. (It's big 18"x18"x18")three. All the cable headers (plugs w/e) are one solid connector instead of 5 to ten wires like some all-in-a single front panelsfour. Inexpensive 1. As an individual else noted, the card reader doesn't have any sort of lock for the cards; they just kind of slide in and sit there; this seems a tiny "hackish". Like a person else stated, it's worth the additional five dollars to get a all-in-one front panel that works over some junk. This thing does what it says it will do, does it effectively, and it's low cost. Some persons have mentioned that they fried their motherboard; I would be willing to hazard a guess that this is far more their fault than the item's fault.

Installed with no issues on Vista Ultimate 64. Has read every little thing I've plugged into it so far with no troubles. The UPS girl wouldn't go out with me no matter how great my roundhouse kicks were. I haven't tried out the HD audio port but, so don't know if that's working correctly. Honestly, it's not that critical to me due to the fact I'll in all probability never ever use it. I like my speaker method as well nicely.

Cons:Does not have USB 3.0

Pros:Gives you media connection on the front of your computer, decent price
Comment:
I was a bit concerned about buying this unit for my friend as I was not sure if it would be too flimsy. However, I was pleasantly surprised that it seems sturdy enough and it looks good when installed. While it would have been nice to have USB 3.0 connection for the front, the price of this unit was low enough to overlook.

Plugged it in and everything was noticed and is working fine. Anything is plugged in suitable side up(only purpose I'm mentioning this is that for some purpose a lout of card readers seem to have cards be plugged upside down for some cause). It's quite cheaply made. The front panel comes out a bit in the middle and looks like it's prepared to pop off. It's operating now, but I'm not really confident how lengthy it's going to last. If you're seeking to get this reader, I would recommend you store about a little more.

Functions, uncomplicated installation, HD Audio, SDHC.Began looking just for a SDHC two. card reader for my brother's new digital camera. It's outstanding. Fantastic speed. I also like the notion to move all connections upfront so that you don't need to have to pull the tower out to deal with connections on the back. I looked everywhere and this is by FAR the ideal alternative. five stars! None. My AC97 operates fine. No way you can miss that. A single plug one particular direction.

All the attributes on it are very good. I like getting the sound input/output on it. The added 3 usb ports perform...sometimes? The plastic is affordable. It's weirdly sized and won't mount in my docking bay so it shifts around when I'm taking factors in and out. The sound input/output craps out when "overwhelmed" with volume. This getting my volume set above 60-70%. Or screaming into the microphone. When this happens it requires a sound driver reboot. The usb's don't seem to be two.? Some devices don't function when they are plugged in. Maybe it's not outputting sufficient power?I speedily gave up on making use of the card readers following placing a memory card in. It wouldn't recognize the card. It has possible to be a actually excellent addon to a computer but fails to operate in quite a few occasions.

Good choice of ports for the price tag. Front cover is flimsy, which is relevant simply because this part exists to have stuff shoved into it all day. Worse, it's not properly grounded. If I don't de-static myself (by touching the case) the spark reboots my machine. Once again, that sucks for a device that gets touched.

It will do what its suppose to do and does a good job. You can hear the computer board rattle about when shaken. Don't just push a CF card into the slot expecting it to line up. Right after learning how to slide it in just suitable, it will operate. No issues with usb's. Never tried the rest. Cheaply produced at a affordable value.
