Excellent Top quality style. Cable just lengthy enough to reach all headers. CF slot actually bigger(higher) than the actual CF disk. So must be careful when sliding the CF into the slot. If no careful, the CF disk will get eaten by the drive...litterally. If you just push it in without having realizing, it will go too far, and you have to pry it out or open the case to get it out. Recall to get boards that has all supported headers. It has 1xHD Audio/AC-97, 2xUSB, 1x-SATA, 1-FireWire. I got a board that didn't have any FireWire! :(

Straightforward to install. USB, 1394, SATA and AC-97 connectors plugged directly into motherboard (MSI 865PE Neo2-PFISR) Gives quite a few of the functions that I wanted on the front of my Pc. Read photos on 2GB SD card quite quick. Have not tried the other card slots however or larger sizes. Have not tried the eSATA port but given that I do not have an eSATA drive. When using the AC-97 audio connector the Front audio jack does not send Left & Right audio signals back to motherboard connector automatically when it is not becoming utilised. Mother board needs jumpers for Left and Correct Audio to pass by way of to the rear audio jacks. I am making use of the rear audio jacks for a 4.1 speaker system. Another reviewer mentioned the similar issue. I was able to remedy this challenge easily by reconfiguring the AC-97 connector wiring to present the necessary jumpers among pins five & 6 and 9 & 10. This was done by removing linked pins and connections from the HD connector and inserting them into the AC-97 connector. Be conscious that the internal connections and cable supplied are SATA not eSATA and the connector on the front of the unit is eSATA. SATA and eSATA connectors and cables are not interchangable. It is my understanding that the only distinction is that eSATA cables are developed for far better EMI protection and for use external to the personal computer case for additional trustworthy information transmission.

I just received this card reader today. I got common three day shipping and Newegg got it to me in 1 day, how can you beat that???Anyways, i run Windows XP and Ubuntu Linux, and the most crucial factor for me was that it worked in Linux and it works FLAWLESSLY. I couldn't be happier, specially contemplating that i had to RMA a unique one particular i had purchased elsewhere mainly because i didn't realize that it was dependent on windows drivers. This reader is DRIVERLESS, consequently perfect for somebody who doesn't use a standard operating method. Not a single 1 i didn't use the 1394 firewire connection or the audio cables. I have no use for the audio cables as i use my personal setup, and as for the firewire port, i already have 2 USB 2., 1 Firewire, and 1 Esata port on my case.I did use the esata post as i had a spare sata connection, but i only had 1 1394 port on my motherboard.

puts everything that is commonly in the back of the personal computer in the front exactly where it is accessable. +card reader and hd audio jacks to boot ! plastic on front of reader is type of cheesy. Has slight bend to it soon after installation that is a little annoying. nice addition to the front of any pc specially the ones with a door on the front so that bendy plastic doesnt keep catching my eye and driving me insane. Anything was labled and straight forward. You truly need to have the schematic for the motherboard when installing this. My install went without having a dilemma. I was able to mount it employing the four screws provided by the manufacturer. This supplied a stable mount -looks lovely in my Antec case (Thank you). Windows recognized anything right away! Ultimately, the audio sounds superb! I could not hook up the Firewire connection (no firewire connections on Motherboard! Not actually a con for the item - my Mb's lack of a Firewire connection is not nMediaPC's fault! Just a con that I can\'t use it! I don't understand why some of the other persons had trouble with the install and the performance of this card reader - It is wonderful!

Affordable. Recognized CF and SD cards for me when I could get them appropriately inserted. There is no case over the CF slot - just thin air, so twice I've inserted a CF card and had it fall clear via to the interior of the personal computer case, requiring exiting my OS and fishing the card out.Even being cautious to hold the card level, it is tricky to get CF cards inserted and now I cannot insert them at all (bent pins, perhaps?). Back to employing my old USB external card reader. I don't advocate this unit to any person employing CF cards. Just before you purchase, make confident you get a card reader that encloses the card slot so you don't have to tweak (wriggle, slide in and out, fish around, etc.) the card to get it in.

Comparatively easy install (if you have a tiny amount of understanding of your motherboard). Card reader and USB worked flawlessly. Windows had no challenge detecting either. Looks pretty good. Difficulty with four.1 Sound. When I hooked up the front audio jacks my 4.1 speakers no longer create sound from the front channel. The motherboard required jumpers to send audio to the back panel (when front audio jacks not in use) and I'm not sure if the motherboard was acting flaky or if the card reader was not correctly sending a signal to the back panel (when there are no headphones plugged in, sound need to be sent to the back as I recognize it). The issue I had is most likely an isolated factor so I wouldn't be scared off from this product. Also wanted to add that when I went to RMA the reader, Newegg's client service was quick and very satisfying. There is no better place to order pc components anywhere on the planet! Thanks Newegg!

Has a ton of features. Excellent for creating an older case (old antec with USB 1 and no front audio) last another couple of years and be far more serviceable. What a horrible way to get the darn factor installed...use self tapping screws in plastic..Seriously??? How challenging would it be to make so it can mount in a regular fashion? 15 year old cd drives and new BLU Ray drives mount universally effectively, you couldn't have produced this mount quickly? This is why only 4 eggs use a drill and pre drill the factor, less difficult than attempting to get the screws to self tap

Good searching unit and has lots of attributes. No drivers required. Vista loaded them all without any problems. Lots of USB2 ports and a 1394. Audio connections did not perform with my Asus board and Antec Sonota factory wired front cover audio wires. I had to use the Antec audio wires. Attempting to get help.If you cannot screw by way of your case into the reader, with two screws per side, it's a sloppy fit. A lot of instances nowadays have rails to mount your devices in. This reader has only one screw to catch a rail so it rocks around. You require a full length device under it to stabilize it. Seriously ticked off more than the audio wires scenario. nMedia support was rapid to say there was nothing wrong with the wires or connector. They mentioned they did not manufacture the wire and connector and purchase it completed. Appears to me they ought to test it in the assembly. They do say to make positive the wires are in the right location, but to me, wires that are in the connector ought to perform. AC97 is kind of common. If they are unsure of board setup, they ought to leave the wires out of the connector and id them like a lot of producers do. I'm kind of senitive about this kind of stuff. Other than that, it looks like a truly nice unit.

This unit functions a card reader, eSATA, USB x3 and a card reader all in one unit. The face is matte black plastic or silver plastic. nMedia also delivers an aluminum faced model. The included cables are of sufficient length for routing in my Silverstone SG01. Not positive how properly they would function out for an ATX case with a regular orientation. They may be a small brief so do your homework. The face plate is not totally secured to the metal frame and it does bow out a tad bit. The SATA cable included with the unit for connecting to the eSATA port does not involve a spring steel locking click and loosens extremely effortlessly. For the price tag, this is a wonderful deal. Almost everything I required to round out my case plus audio connections which saved me from getting to order a replacement cable straight from Silverstone. Doesn't save me much simply because, as usually, Silverstone client service is fantastic and they are not asking an insane fee to replace it.

Wonderful price, no issues with other slots. Works good with Win 7. Uncover a thing else if you want to use the CF slot. Incredibly poor alignment. At very first my CF would sometime go More than pins and I would have to open the laptop or computer to get the card back as the leading of the slot is not sealed on the inside. Now one of the pins is bent inside the slot. Pro camera owners, buy some other brand. Warranty? Anybody? Anybody?

Has everything you want for front access, generally when you try to use/salvage some leftover old laptop or computer instances that don't have front USB or audio ports, for new system. The eSATA port and IEEE1394 port are plus. Tested all the ports except the IEEE1394 (I don't want), all worked wonderful. ů shipping is too significantly. It doesn't come with beige face plate I need, only black and silver ones. For several old, properly built laptop circumstances, such as those compact size of HP or IBM etc., back to the P2/P3 age, they all lack of front access USB ports and audio port. I constantly had headache if I wanted to reuse them for new builds. With 1 of these readers, then drillling a hole and puting an exhause fan at the side panel. it gives those old situations new live. And saves cash too, as you know those well built, compact size computer instances are high-priced.You can add an IEEE1394 PCI card with internal connector (~ฟ), if your mobo doesn't come with this firewire connector and you do need this function. Then connect the IEEE1394 wire of this card reader to the internal connector of the PCI card. All the wires of this readers are long adequate to reach just about every conner of a microATX mobo.

It has “jack sensing” capabilities i.e. HD audio (Azalia) for my motherboard so that the rear speakers now shut off when I plug in my headphones. Extremely few circumstances assistance this and I only know of 1 other card reader that has this but it price twice as a lot and it is not SDHC compliant. It works good with my 8 Gig SDHC card. Installation was really effortless. Subsequent to impossible to hook up wrong with ten pin connectors and the unused pin filled in solid. The cables are labeled properly. If you do need added aid to figure how to hook it up, directions are on the manufactures net site. I like that it has all of the items that you would usually plug in the back are now in the front. I was hoping that with the new SDHC compliance that it would have also addressed the Safely Eliminate Hardware icon for XP and in all probability Vista (don’t have Vista), but just like most USB card readers either internal or external it doesn’t correct this annoyance. Even though it is plugged internally to the USB port it just isn’t programmed to not have the SRH flag to be triggered. I also feel that it need to have had software to change the icons from becoming generic drives to indicate what they are. To bad they don’t offer it on their net internet site. The MS card slot was a bit tight but I employed a razor blade to trim it and now it works great. For those die tough beige case fans, ;-) like myself, I wish that it would have included a beige face plate. I did stripe the paint off of the silver face plate as it was beige plastic and utilised a Sharpie ultra fine to re-label the slots and ports. It now matches my case and my three optical drives. Unless you look at it actual close it is challenging to tell, but still…

This is one of the couple of 5.25 card readers out there, and it works. I've only tested the CF and the SD readers and all of the USBs, but I haven't had (major) issues with any of them. This has pretty much each port you could want, and I hope they update the style with USB3 and firewire 800.8 months and still going robust. This factor is made from low cost plastic and the screws bite directly into the plastic. Sadly this indicates if you like to rearrange your drive bays typically this won't last too long. Obtaining it aligned correctly is also a pain, but I managed to get it flush in my Antec 300 and the black plastic looks surprisingly superior. Also although this fits into a five.25 bay, I doubt it conforms to any sort of standard so if your case uses some fancy mounting technique very good luck receiving this to function. The plastic flexes a lot when you insert a card, and the CF slot is poorly developed (see other thoughts). In spite of all the cons it's great for the price (thus 4 eggs), but I would easily pay yet another บ for a greater good quality item, and I wish there had been a lot more possibilities for five.25 readers. It looks like they got the dimensions for the CF slot backwards. A CF1 card is supposed to be 43mm wide and three.3mm tall. A CF2 card is just like that but with an added raised location that's 41mm wide ƒmm narrower). This indicates the the bottom of the CF slot must fit 43mm, and have a raised location that's 2mm narrower. Unfortunately it looks like they produced the best of the slot fit 43mm and created the bottom 2mm wider. This means it's possible to insert a CF card incorrectly, and it appears to have caused some grief amongst other users.I don't thing it's a big deal as if you make certain the CF card catches the guide rails it's fine. Nonetheless this is an uncomplicated mistake to fix, but it is present on a lot of nmediapc's products, which makes me wonder if they're lazy or stupid or both.I also had a strange problem with my motherboard exactly where plugging in the headers in the wrong order would cause the BIOS to freeze for a minute on startup. Rearranging the order fixed it, but it's nonetheless incredibly weird.

It has a lot of readers and attributes. On paper at least... It destroyed not one, not two, but three perfectly good 贶 motherboards. That's 蹢 plus the ฤ that this piece of junk expense. I created the mistake of acquiring this and installing it with a new motherboard (everything else, ram, GPU, PSU, were carryovers and already tested). Thinking I had a faulty motherboard, I RMA'd it. Second motherboard, identical thing, and RMA'd it once again. Third time, I didn't plug this card reader into the USB and audio ports, and the mobo booted fine. Installed windows, and played around with the method for a while. Only immediately after that then I plugged the card reader in, and now it refuses to boot all the way. Even unplugged- it appears that the damage is permanent.I RMA'd the exact same motherboard twice recently through Newegg. Unfortunately, this third time, I'll have to RMA directly through the manufacturer.

Every little thing works (that I utilised). I liked the color and labels on the black face plate that came installed (silver plate also included). Somewhat flimsy plastic. Workable in my case but would be a problem (as others have pointed out) if you couldn't screw it into right position. Even then, there is a slight bowing outward in the center but I was able to function with this so it doesn't show. Would be nice if it had been produced of metal rather of plastic. Otherwise, just what I wanted!

Works just as I would expect. Much more of an annoyance than a con, this card reader occupies a five.25" drive bay. The particulars state this in the attributes component as soon as (I noticed later), but the name on the box is ř.25 " All-IN-1 Internal Card Reader" (The picture of the box Newegg shows is not the exact same box I got.). I think Newegg really should put this info appropriate in with the name/title they give it. Most internal card readers are three.five", and I assumed this reader was three.5" (my bad). I am not giving this item a poor review mainly because Newegg didn't make it much more clear, it's not nMEDIAPCs fault. Newegg doesn't even have a way of specifing in the advanced search three.5" or five.25". Fix it please Newegg.

I liked that it was roomy and fit a 5 1ǚ" bay. I liked the number of USB and other input jacks. I like the way it looks. I had to drill yet another hole in the left side to get it to fit properly in the chassis. The hole on the proper side was perfect. It will not accept the compact flash cards that I use in my camera without considerably fiddling, and then often it just won't go in. From time to time my system freezes and the only way to get it to boot once more is to take the cover off the side and unplug the USB connectors from the mother board. Fire it back up and it works. I knew when I drilled the new hole I was voiding my chance of sending it back if it didn't work, but I thought "with such a easy thing what could go wrong?". Apparently plenty. I know what I am performing. The hole I drilled was did no harm to the unit. It was about 1ቬ" from the nearest one. Wonderful design, poor execution. Why didn't the compact flash card insert? Why did the holes not line up? Why do the USB connections cause my system to freeze?
