AMD Phenom II X6 1055T 2.8GHz Socket AM3 125W Six-Core Desktop Processor
Cons: - 6 cores that are easily overclocked for 200$, are you kidding?

Pros: + Price+ Performance+ Easily overclocked
Comment:
Got this running stable at 3.8ghz on stock voltage. Runs relatively cool paried with Noctua heatsink, 45c max on heavy loads. This is so easy to overclock. Make sure you disable turbo core and cool n quiet and you can get 6 cores running at 3.8ghz within 10 minutes. I wasn't able to get it stable at 4.0, and it isn't really worth the effort. For this price why get anything else. Also if your interested Windows Experience Index score is 7.68G DDR3-1333 RipjawsASUS M4A89GTD PRO

Pros: +Cheap for what it is+Fast+Turbo Core
Comment:
Got this to build a system for my brother. No gaming just raw power(at a good price). So it works great and paired with a ASUS M4A89GTD PRO/USB3 gives good performance for your dollar. Turbo core does in fact work with anything running 3 or less cores. I replaced the stock heatsink with a Hyper 212+ since its loud under load(same heatsink from the 955BE).Even for games this cpu brings the power(its just not used for that in this case).

Upgraded from an Intel Core E6300. Simply blows the competition away at its pricepoint. I have 2 AMD X4 (Phenom and Athlon) but they can't compete. Paired with my Gigabyte 890GPA-UD3H as a bundle. Great price at that if you can get it. Slightly overclocks itself automatically. Highly recommend.

Cons: Not quite as good as the intel 6 core. Bad stock heatsink.

Pros: Cheap, great performance, 6 cores of ultra goodness.
Comment:
For $210, you get 6 cores at 2.8GHz. You can easily OC it to 4.0GHz. Now, that I must say is ridiculous.

AMD Phenom II X6 1055T 2.8GHz Socket AM3 125W Six-Core Desktop Processor
Cons: harder to OC than the BE 1090T but the same exact cpu just underclocked

Pros: 6cores, cheap, easy to instal, no problems in anyway, it just works
Comment:
I really like this cpu, its a great upgrade from my amd x2 4200+. Its opened a whole new work of things that i could never do befor. Its cheap as dirt, runs like the satin himself and OC like a mofo. For a budget build you should move it to the top of the list. It posted right away on my gigabyte 890 mobo. Paired with some ripjaw 1600 ram and a couple of Nvidia gpus' its been increadable. I am just a joe consumer and i had no problems at all with it, its an easy upgrade for me. The only 6 cores are the 100 more 1090T or the intel 1000$+. Not a hard choice. Buy it enjoy it, love it.

AMD Phenom II X6 1055T 2.8GHz Socket AM3 125W Six-Core Desktop Processor
Cons: - Not really a cons but I wish it would had been the 95W version but it got delayed so you get 125W for now.- Sad that it doesn't have a multi of 16 but only 14.

Pros: - Faaaaaast!!! Even at stock 2.8Ghz (See summary below)- Very cheap imo at 200$, even got free ground shipping for whole order :D- Very cold and ridiculously easy to overclock.
Comment:
I'm using it on the (Asus M4A89GTD Pro/usb3) motherboard with CoolerMaster 212+ heatsink. You can keep everything at (Auto) in the bios and just set ur FSB to 271x14=3.8Ghz and it's gonna be perfectly stable! On my Intel E8400 it took me so much time to reach 4.32Ghz from 3.0 but on this cpu you get an extra Ghz in only 5 seconds lol. After that however ur gonna mess a lot only to maybe get +200Mhz but trust me the "extra speed" that you'll never notice won't be worth the much higher voltage and extra heat so just settle to 3.8XIf I'd try 3.90 or higher, keeping all voltage at (Auto) wouldn't work by the way. So by getting that extra Ghz my temp only raised of 11Celcius, that's so much nothing! When you know how easy it is to OC this chip, gotta be stupid to pay 100$ more for the 1090T.Oh I almost forgot to say, with the same settings in BC2 (All at maximum but HBAO/Vsync/AA at Off) and 1920x1080, I would get very noticeable lag from time to time with my E8400 4.32Ghz on my Radeon HD4870 512Mb then when I just switched to the X6 1050T without even overclocking the WHOLE lag totaly disappeared! I was blown away to see how useful to new games this cpu is. No matter how much you'll OC ur dual-core it won't even come close to it.

Pros: TOP MARKS GIVEN! Fast, responsive, stable, affordable hexacore solution, ♥'s VMWare, great CPU for cloud computing network. Consistent high-FPS (300fps) in Counter-Strike: Source, Mass Effect (via Steam), Corsair H50 cools (w/ stock TIM) to 20°C (idle) & 35°C (load) [Core Temp/64-bit].

Drop-in functionality with an ASUS M4A87TD EVO – though I elected to upgrade the BIOS just as a precautionary measure. No problems to signal.I'm very pleased with my purchase of the AMD Phenom II X6 1055T Hexacore CPU. I'm returning to AMD after many years and several Intel-based systems. Was hesitant to return to AMD, only to discover that Green is good! Don't believe Intel's marketing hype. Or, if you do, don't let the hype stop you from making an informed purchasing decision. This AMD CPU is an integral part of a fast, responsive, and stable computer system. I'm very pleased; and proud to encourage a good CPU manufacturer that prices its offerings in a respectable manner.

Got this chip the other day and I'm totally impressed with it. I have it OC'ed to 3.5Ghz on all 6 cores right out of the box on stock voltage, heatsink and fan. Stable for 10 hours so far in OCCT. Max temps haven't gone past 48c. This chip is insane, and for 200 bucks it can't be beat. With an aftermarket cooler and a bit more voltage this thing will hit and probably surpass 4.0Ghz easy. I can't recommend this CPU enough, it is a must buy. I feel like it's the best 200 bucks I've ever spent on electronics.

Cons: At this price, really I don't know.

Pros: Very powerful for video decode and encoding. Lots of power for the price.
Comment:
Decided to go with this one and bought an Intel X-25 SSD with the money I saved from a Core i7 920. That was the best decision I have ever made, Windows 7 boots in 10 seconds and all programs are starting at lightning speed! My tests with Premiere Pro CS4 shows that this CPU encodes MPEG4 video has fast as a Core i7 920, for 100$ less. That's a very good deal for me!

AMD Phenom II X6 1055T 2.8GHz Socket AM3 125W Six-Core Desktop Processor
Cons: IPC lower than Intel's. Intel wins out in efficiency and anything than can't take advantage of more than 4 cores.

Pros: 6 fast cores for just over $200. AMD's platform more up-to-date than Intel's (SATA 6G and USB3.0).
Comment:
Very nice chip. I would suggest disabling turbo core for efficiency reasons (bumps the voltage up more than necessary), and just overclocking it to around 3.5 on stock volts and cooling. If you have an aftermarket cooler, around 3.7 should be stable on stock volts (I got 3.75, Xbit got just past 3.7). I wouldn't bother past 3.7 if you care about efficiency: this thing really starts sucking down the power to get to 4GHz. Also, make sure your NB and HT frequencies don't go much past 2.4GHz.I was split between this and a P55/i5-750 platform, but the P55 boards with USB3.0 usually starve the USB3.0 chip with a single PCI-e 1.0 lane. Plus, my current favorite game, Bad Company 2, takes advantage of 6 cores. So, I went the AMD route.

Awesome upgrade for am2/am3 motherboards owners. Equally great for a new build. Overclock perfectly stable at 3.5 Ghz r 45deg C. Stock Heatsink a bit cheap like always. Got STALKER Call of Pripyat in bundle. To overclock you need to boost bus speed. Multiplier is locked unlike the 1090T. That means you may have to slow down ram and HT NB speed. Perfect for extreme multitasking.

AMD Phenom II X6 1055T 2.8GHz Socket AM3 125W Six-Core Desktop Processor
Cons: Doesn't perform as well as many Intel modelsNot sure I actually need the extra cores, but hey, it's like they're thrown in for no extra cost

Pros: Great price6 coresMotherboard I got makes it easy to unlock the extra cores
Comment:
If I had read more reviews with benchmarks first, I probably would have gone with an Intel chip. I really got hooked on an Asus motherboard and grabbed the 1055T because it was cheap. And no, it's not the ideal way to build a system. But I'm not using games that really push my system right now, so this is future-proofing. The great price pushes it up to 4 stars.

Cons: -multiplier is locked.-makes a weird noise when it's processing stuff (kinda like a screechy laser?...)

Pros: -6 cores-faster than my core 2 duo-can overclock past 4ghz ( with the right cooling)
Comment:
I bought everything in the tech tips video (motherboard, nh-d14, and this) and got up to the 4ghz mark as he did. I'm not sure what the maximum safe temperature for amd processors actually are (I'm sticking to 60 max) but even after overclocking, the temperatures hit an absolute max of 55 degrees celsius.

Pros: -highly overclockable-6 cores-big improvement over Pentium 4 =]-okay multi (14)

I just got a new rig with this and a crosshair iv formula and its amazingly fast an lag free. I haven't personally overclocked this yet because I am still waiting on my Corsair H50. Early indications are that this is nicely overclockable. Some have stated that it's not worth perchasing the more expensive chip.If you are planning on using this for overclocking then after market heat sink would be reccommended.Video processing with this is very nice, I'm not a big gamer so I'm not much help on that front. It's amazing what a system you can put together on a resonable budget these days with this kind of performance offered at these prices. As a frugal spender, it's hard to go to intel.

I am very impressed with the speed of this processor. I was using an AMD phenom x3 and this is an insane boost. I haven't noticed when the turbo mode is used and when I am playing games it still shows all cores being used. I am not an overclocker but will see about doing that. The heat sink ok. With the two 120mm fans that I have it runs at about 40 degrees C. I have only seen it top 45 when I am running games. Amazing processor.

A great chip, but may need a better heat sink
Comment:
I got this chip-fan-heatsink with a bundle deal and it went together no problem. The instructions did say to use thermal grease which I didn't have any. I thought the tape on it would suffice. The temps were 37C case and 46C chip. When I ran the processor performance test on SisoftSandra (all 6 cores maxed out) the overheat alarm which was set to go off at 60C went off. I will get some Artic Silver and probably a bigger heat sink-fan just for grits and shins. Other than that everything started up with no problem. The Windows 7 saw all 6 cores right away. It was smokin fast on the benchmarks with Win 7 on an SSD and 4G ram.

Long ago I use to buy nothing but AMD cpus then I went to Intel for a stretch. The new hexa-core cpus from AMD brought me back. For the price you get a lot and the power managment Is amazing. At this point I won't use all the cores but it gives you that warm fuzzy future proof feeling. And again amazingly priced and I love how AMD is allowing these painless cpu transitions by building many different cpu archtectures for the same socket. Next stop bulldozer!
