Everything about the power supply was very high high quality, from the packaging, to the cables, to the efficiency. Additional than adequate connectors for almost everything that you'll need to have to power. Modular cables would have been much better. The filpside to lots of connectors is lots of cables to manage. It's doable with a small added space in the case, even though.

The third time I powered up my new Computer with this energy supply, it hummed loudly for a handful of seconds then went CHUNK and died. I was terrified that my new Computer was cooked. Nevertheless, when I picked up a temporary energy supply from [a significant electronics shop] though waiting for Newegg's RMA, crossed my fingers and powered up, every thing worked beautifully. No harm. The netting around all the wires aids retain my case organized and prevents snagging. It blew up... BUT did not damage anything.

Corsair makes excellent energy supplies. I've bought a number of more than the previous year. There are truly no cons for the power provide itself. But I should say this one I'm having concerns with and I've got a RMA quantity from Corsair and they want me to pay the shipping to return it to them. I think thats a poor way to manage it. I gotta ship it so I'll have to deal with it, but just letting folks know. Still, good energy supplies.

Quiet, excellent construct. Haven't owned it long adequate to talk about its reliability. I bought this to replace a burned out 500W energy provide. The 8-pin connector that splits into two 4 pin connectors need to be documented obviously in the manual. A square inch for a image of how it comes apart would have saved me a moment of panic. Loved the matching blackout screws. Good interest to detail.

It's a "trusted" name. The "unit" fit effectively into the bottom of my situation. Be prepared for a mess of wires inside your case. The SATA cables are effectively aligned producing it terribly excruciating to plug them in appropriately to all your drives. I guess Corsair didn't expect men and women to use > 1 hdd and only 1 optical drive. I have an SSD, two 1TB challenging drives, along with a CD ROM drive all working with this power provide (not to mention anything else that demands it on the mobo), and it's literally a mess of wires.

good PS but was DOA. Newegg provided refund RMA even though it was a tiny more than a month. Corsair supplied to replace it and also sent me an RMA. So I'm content now. none This is a follow-up to an earlier 'poor' rating. At 1st Newegg didn't want to RMA because I was over the time limit due to an illness but I talked with them and they approved it. Much appreciated.

Fantastic item. Been operating in my wife's Pc practically two years. Right here is her current setup, and we have had problems with it:Corsair 550W PSUAM3 MSI 770Phenom II X2 550 BlackOCZ Reaper 4gig ƒX 2G)XFX ATI 4850 Radeon 1G DDR3Extremely quiet, and operates. What else does any individual need? We are thinking of upgrading soon to the 750W when she goes to 8Gig and X2 4850's, but so far runs like a champ! None General, fantastic card. I wouldn't run any duel video card setups on this small guy, but for a excellent overall typical rig, this point performs wonders.

Good power provide Burned out following three months. Customer service told me to sent it in and they would rush out a new one to me, known as a week later to uncover out they had been out of stock on all energy supplys and it was going to take a month to get a new a single. Right after four customer service reps the found a 650 to replace my 550 with, great correct. NO it took them over a week and half to get me the new a single, nevertheless waiting for it to arrive. In no way got my rebate and they have sent it twice now according to client service. I might appear else exactly where just mainly because of the consumer service.

Cons:None.

Pros:-Price (59.99$ on sale, with free ground shipping for entire order).-Quality power supply, won't explode after a month.-Looks pretty neat in my case.
Comment:
I was looking for a cost-efficient power supply for a mainstream gaming computer I was building. The VX550W was an excellent choice at this price (59.99$), as it's a reliable power supply and it supports pretty much anything (other than 400+$ GPUs, I suppose).

Wonderful excellent PSU from a properly identified manufacturer for less than โ delivered. Has all the connectors your typical user will ever need to have and runs pretty quiet. The only con is that it is not modular, so you can't eliminate the 3-four cables that most systems don't will need. I ought to have read the specs a lot more meticulously. That coupled with the length of the cables could produce cable management problems for some. This is the only reason it doesn't get 5 eggs! A excellent power supply for a mid priced build.

Seemed really solidly built - heavy steel, solid & lengthy cables with nice sleeving. Quiet fan. The unit I got failed oddly at low power draws. It worked fine whilst playing games, encoding video, and so on. Even so, when I switched to light internet surfing, my complete program would randomly challenging reboot.Simply because this was in a brand new develop, it took me a whilst to narrow down the dilemma component to the PSU. Lastly swapped in a various PSU, and all my issues went away. This PSU caused me a very frustrating week of troubleshooting! I seriously wanted to like this seemingly effectively-built unit from a respected manufacturer. I explicitly purchased from Corsair mainly because I hate dealing with PSU troubles. Right after all that frustration, I feel disinclined to purchase from Corsair again. I'll just stick with other brands that have never caused me this significantly time & difficulty. Also, Newegg rocks! Consumer service was rapid and created my issue complete.

So far so great. Fantastic worth for what you get. A lot more than adequate for a standard process develop. Purchased two. Both systems are OCed. Volts are a few 100ths high on each and every output, but that is ok. Fan is a little noisy. That's why 4 eggs. 450W is pleanty for a midrange video card. With a small headroom for growth.

I have had this unit for a handful of years. Old low-cost ones burned out and fried a number of motherboards. One particular even shot out sparks and smoke was coming from the case. Nicely I went to several websites and this unit came up a lot. So i did a small bit of researching, located out this was a lot more then what I essential. Individuals said don't skimp out on your PSU and this unit will be more then adequate. At this time I was on a 7600gt, AM2 4200x2, Thermaltake armor case with five fans. four 120led's and one 92mm to cool the difficult drives on best. This was really excellent and never ever had any problems at ALL EVER once more with my pc shorting out, or motherboards going poor. Now I upgraded toa AMD Phenom x4 955, similar fans, 320gb hdd, and an Nvidia GTX 465 (needs 550w minimum) and operates outstandingly. Not one hiccup and works just as new. Corsair has my service once more when I require a larger psu for confident. None what so ever to be honest. You get what you spend for, and less is much more. If you spend much less on low-cost components it will break and require to invest additional on a thing superior. So save your pennies and pick this unit up if you're seeking to energy one particular mid range graphics card and other factors. Functions great on my end.

Cons:Wattage too low if I wanted a second video card in this system.

Pros:Good price at $70, low sound from fan, no problems with system.

This power supply was reviewed as a solid unit with considerable upside to it when it had come out new. It has been on the market long enough that this wattage is beginning to be insufficient for the power user systems, but it works for me with an Intel i7 2600K (slightly overclocked), 16 GB RAM at 1600 Mhz, ASUS GeForce GTX560 Ti 448CORE, SSD drive, SATA3 drive, 2 optical drives, and 4 fans from the case operating. I am very pleased with my system and this power supply has not caused any troubles to date.
