Good so far

Purchased as part of a bare bones deal. Only problem was figuring where to plug in the 2x2 connector from the power supply.

Great Product
Comment:
This is the first time I tried to build computer and boy was I worried.Saw this product on for 250 added 2 sata drives 1 and upgraded the memory and went to work all for less than 420 with shipping. This was the best investment I have ever made and so far absolutly no problems. The kids love it my wife loves it and they still can't believe I was able to build it.So as far as computers go if you can read you can build it set the bios download the operating system and go.Love it.

LAN connectivity is BAD NEWS
Comment:
I was overall happy with this board and all its features. Everything installed relatively easy. No issues until yesterday. I have it now running for 2 days and I have serious issues with a wired LAN network connectivity and discovery. Almost every start or restart requires LAN cable to be unplugged and plugged back multiple times otherwise you are ' Not connected to a network ' even though you are. I tested this with my other PC, so I know there is nothing wrong with my LAN cable. I'm going to be calling tech support today, but most likely will end up returning it and getting different one or different brand.

MA785GM for HTPC
Comment:
Selected this motherboard for its HDMI output and integrated ATI Radeon HD 4200 / RealTek 7.1 Audio. Populated it with 4GB PC6400 RAM, and a Phenom II 550 BE processor. Hauppage! 1600 Tuner card completed the mobo layout. Works flawlessly under Windows 7 RC as Internet TV and ATSC OTA HD TV connected via HDMI to my home theater AV Receiver. Would have liked AC3/DTS decoding on board as well, but no matter, my AV Receiver does the decoding for me. Pretty impressive mobo IMHO, especially for the price. Did try unlocking the extra cores on the 550 BE, but enabling auto ACC had no effect. Oh well, even on two cores, processor is way more than what I need for this HTPC anyways. Highly recommended for HTPC use.

Good but....

I had a issue with it booting my ide harddrive the other day, the bios seemed to boot ok but after that i got a flashing _ and some garbage behind that, reset it and did the same thing, turned computer off and flipped the switch on power supply off then back on after a few sec and seems to work fine now, however i am weary of this board now and if it does it again i will RMA this mobo.

super nice

I actually did have a problem but opposite the reviewer below. The Vista 64 DVD worked fine in IDE mode on mine (perhaps has more to do with the DVD drive than the MB). BUT - I did encounter an install problem with Vista 64. It required the hard drive(s) to be in IDE mode rather than full SATA mode. But once installed, just switched it in bios and voila. Did take me a bit of research online to figure out why it was freezing on install. I suspect this is more a function of -which- version of Vista you're installing. So take what I say and the previous reviewer into consideration if you encounter Vista install issues. Features - I'm loving all the features on this MB, for this price it's amazing. I bought this MB mainly due to price and having 4 memory slots (didn't want to be limited to 4 GB like many other cheaper MB) More ports than you can shake a stick at - which I always love. Overclocking options galore - though I never overclock, the options are there.

Poor DVD support
Comment:
This board, while feature rich, has some serious problems when it comes to booting UDF formatted DVD's like the Vista Install DVD. It took me hours of tinkering with BIOS settings to get the UDF formatted DVD to boot, and get vista to like the hard drive. This board will ONLY boot from a SATA DVD drive, with the BIOS set to full SATA mode, not IDE emulation mode. You will also have to make sure that your specific SATA DVD drive is the device you choose to boot from, as the generic entry for ''CD-ROM'' will NOT boot a UDF disc. (It will boot non UDF cd's and DVDs however) The board came delivered with version F2 of the BIOS, and version F4 did not resolve this issue. I have placed a support ticket with Gigabyte, but as of this review have heard nothing in response.

the graphics are good and the set up is pretty good. gives you a wide range of connectors on the back pannle. don't like the psu connections uses a 24+1 setup with an extra needed four pin plug.

Floppy Drive Issue
Comment:
BIOS is reporting a floppy drive installed, when there is none. When I install a floppy drive, it doesn't work. Still trying to resolve this issue. Otherwise, seems to be a good mobo.
