Best Value for a Quad 1156 Processor. Bought Chip to makeover my son's four year old I-Purchase Power machine. Is a college grad gift. I generally obtain last years gear for the price point once new models come out.Notice create below.Got a new Asus MB that permits smooth OC with this chip. Per other evaluations that did not like stock heatsink I did get a Thermaltake CPU Cooler. Really cool with OC 3+.This chip must last for years. No HT but not required. Quite fast as is. Straightforward install, moderately simple overclock, inexpensive. But with the new processors out I would go ahead and get a 2500 It seems like even when I push the overclock to 4. ghz I can't get an improve in my efficiency scores. This is most probably due to my inexperience with overclocking

For gaming, this processor is outstanding. That's about all I do, other than of course music and net browsing, but if you're searching for a good gaming processor, look no further. Paired with a GTX 570, an SSD, and 8GB DDR3, I don't see a hitch in games (Black Ops, BFBC2, SC2, etc.). This is a huge improvement more than my C2D E6600, which, for example, couldn't even run Black Ops mainly because both cores were maxed out. I have yet to see all cores maxed out. Max temp I've seen therefore far is 67C. Tj. Max si 99. I'm a long way from it, but this is nonetheless rather hot. I have a HAF 922 case with three 200mm fans and a 120mm fan, so it is extremely nicely cooled. Not necessarily saying the 67C is a con, but much more or less just a forewarning to know what you'll be obtaining into employing the stock heatsink fan.I will possibly upgrade my CPU cooling in the close to future just to elongate my CPU's life, even though I'll never be overclocking. So far I can't slow this thing down. I bought this right as the revised Sandy Bridge CPUs were coming out, but frankly I did not want to obtain a platform that has had known problems. I just did not want to risk it. Clock for clock comparing an i5 to an i7 you only see ㅂ% gains in games. Often, this i5 even outperforms the i7 in games. This processor is 100% worth the funds, and then some.

Quad core and quickly! Got it running with my hackintosh with no troubles but! At the moment have it overclocked to 3.2 with no difficulties.. Dual channel rather of triple! My initially intel develop and have in no way had any experience with their heat sinks. I wish they had better instructions that explains whats going on the picture.. Putting on the heatsink was a small tricky since i was applied to the AMD way. I wasn't certain if I put it in there tightly or not..Runs hot with the stock heatsink compared to my AMD X6 1055t create. I have my AMD OC to three.2ƒ.8 stock) w/ stock HS and it was hovering around 28-35 celcius idle, load up to about 50 celcius. This was hovering around 45-50 celcius idle ʃ.2 and went up to 70 at load! Kinda freaked me out so I put on a Cooler Master Hyper 212 heatsink on it and now its hovering at 37 celcius at 3.2 and about 55 celcius under load. Wished it came with a greater heatsink but I guess the extra dollars for a soon after market heatsink is the price you pay to overclock! After purchasing this I identified that newegg sells Intel Xeon 3430 which is the identical as this chip but with HTƘ threads total) for 趐.. Wish I would've purchased that chip instead considering that i'm gonna be making use of this rig for video editing! We'll in all probability upgrade to that later!

-super rapid... EIGHT MEG CACHE!-incredibly very energy effective, it runs cooler then my conroe when idle or when performing minor tasks such as browsing pages-supports HT for a total of 4phys and 4logical cores! stock cooler... are you kidding haha that factor is HALF the size of stock 775 coolers... and however it appears to do its job rather effectively. i dont trust it for something though.the temps i get are fine for stock, 39c idle 67c load, i still recommend buying a far better cooler. This thing is a monstor it plowed threw everything i threw at it. I went from 9003 3dmark06 to 16376 marks! This is a clear upgrade from a E6400 core2duo! In 3dsmax i cant begin to clarify how much faster this factor is for the duration of renders. eight buckets crunching information this factor is super quick.-installed this withWINTEC AMPX 4gb ram ƓAXH1333C9WS4GK)MSI P55-CD53 MotherboardAPEVIA ATX-AS680W-BL PSUEVGA 260GTX 216SBXFI PLATNIUM sndcard

Rapidly and furious. Can handle rather a load. As stated various occasions, the heat sink is horrible. It was in a position to keep me at a steady 100 degrees C. Every little thing is so significantly more quickly. I don't even notice a performance concern when I have Globe of Warcraft open.

Rapid very good Processor for the money and I have thrown a number of games at this thing and have yet to bog it down. This is my 1st develop of a laptop or computer and I wanted some thing that wasn't going to break the bank but could compete. The heat sink and fan that come with it SUCK!!!!!!!! Installed it on a ASUS motherboard and began up the pc installed Win 7 64 bit and was doing fine till I got a CPU temp warning and shutdown. Let it cool off checked the temp. and it was running at about 78C at idle WOW. I got every little thing in a ANTEC 900 case with 4 120mm fans and one 240mm. So I had to make a trip to the local laptop or computer store which is 1 hour away to get some thing else. Ended up buying a Cool Master Hyper N520 luckily I didn't have to remove the MOB to install. But come on INTEL I would have gladly paid you 30 bucks a lot more for a good heat sink and fan. If you buy this you require to obtain some other kind of heat sink and fan to go with it. Intel stuck a garbage sink and fan in the box to sell to you and you are going to have to get something else unique.

After comparing this CPU to all that's out there I decided if it worked as expected it would be a top performer per dollar spent.I do a very good bit of gaming and function with video files. I'd applied the Socket 478뫹PE platform for years and decided it was time to upgrade with my goal to run any video game and to lower time essential to approach video files.Time to transcode a video file went from 1.5 hours to 25 minutes.Even Crysis Warhead runs smooth now.At idle the chip stays about 80F! Under load it rises to about 115F.Method: I5 760 CPUIntel DH55HC moboNvidia (MSI) 460GTX CycloneCorsair 650W PSU500GB WD Caviar Black SATA This method met and exceeded my expectations. It also runs wonderful under Linux, 32 or 64 bit versions. None concerning this CPU. In a few months I am going to develop another identical program. I've accomplished that for years so I have a machine to fall back on if 1 fails.I wasn't thinking of doing that this time but I'm so pleased I hope to do it ASAP now.

Completely murders with video encodes. Four cores are delicious. Stays pretty quiet too. The stock CPU fan is junky - it sits funny and the cord dangles about precariously. Also, it is very loud. I regarded as taking off an egg considering that I purchased an aftermarket fan, but the proc is just so zippy I couldn't bring myself to. Sad the architecture changed enough between this generation and sandy bridge so they had to make them not pin compatible.

This is an ideal processor for a properly equipped PC at a reasonable cost. Stock it performs very nicely, but when overclocked the performance compares with high finish i7 systems (with the exception to missing hyperthreading).Gaming wise, combined with the HD6850, each single game we have (including Crysis) will run with ultra or close to ultra settings at a 1920x1080 resolution with at least 30 fps.I ran some multi-threaded CPU benchmarks comparing this CPU's raw processing power to my 8-core dual E5420 workstation and to our 2-core i3-550 PCs and discovered the efficiency ratios were roughly 15ᚼᛀɍ (i5-760 ʃ.2GHz: E5420 ʂ.5GHz: E5420 OC'd ʃ.0GHz: i3-550 ʃ.5GHz). I was shocked to see it had 75% of the processing power of my 8-core workstation (before OCing the 8-core).These chips will generally overclock to four.+ GHz (it still could not replace my dual E5420 program given that the work I do requires 48GB+ of RAM and the i5-760 supports 16GB; the E5420񴄈 chipset supports 128GB) None other than becoming aware the i5-760 does not support hyperthreading so you are limited to 4 simultaneous threads and that the maximum memory size supported is 16GB. excellent little chip. ideal for gaming. if you are trying to decide among this chip and an i7-870 and it is only for gaming, go with the i5. unless you are making use of heavily multithreaded programs, you will not notice the difference. The price. I wish Intel would drop the costs on older chips when a new chip series is released. Now that sandy bridge is out, these chips should only be about 赔. without dropping the price, how do they expect retailers to get rid of there stock? Seriously go look at some of the core 2 quads and core 2 duos on newegg, they are rediculously pricey. All in all, this is a wonderful chip. it is super quick.four.2ghzʁ.35vcore, 1.3vtt24 hours p95 stable. these chips overclock nice.

Wonderful CPU for the cost. Runs circles about my old dual core. like all CPU's, it will be outdated quick. Required a new PC to process videos. The dual core CPU I had was taking 10-11 hours to render a hour of HD video, and I had to do this twice a week. This new CPU was the ideal I could afford, and it was worth it. down to 2-two.five hours rendering time!

windows 7 processor rating......7.two....... thats with out o/c Stock/supplied fan is not advisable to be applied.I knew this prior to obtain from reading the reviews, so no egg loss. I personal think its the greatest deal for the money, performance compared to expense. It does all it promises and a lot more! Some might say the 6 core Phenom II are much better, even more affordable, but they use 135 watts, attempt keeping them cool on a spending budget.
