also the SSD is always responsive right after you turn on your computer, where as the HDD lacks that; boot+ launching word, excel, IE, sony vegas: SSD= 15+1+1+1+1= 19 seconds!! HDD= 60 + 20+ 8 + 8 + 15= 111 seconds...Its a great buy for the price.. I easly put my boot drive, BF3, Dota 2, Dirt 3 on it with space to spare! ( also have some steam games(1-2GB)and all my programmes on it.)if your like me i reccomend using an SSD for your programms, etc.. and keeping an HDD for storage. |

I experienced random BSOD's this with SSD and a ASUS P8Z68-V LX motherboard despire current/older firmware(s) driver(s).I've since changed to a patriot wildfire without any problems.Issues with compatibility between this sandforce/z68 controller are common when 'googled' for what it's worth, but device performed more than well between BSOD's. :P |

Being this is my first ever SSD, I am overwhelmed. Given my workload (3D Modelling) it made a nice difference in load times with my applications (Maya, 3Ds Max, Sketchup). My boot times compared to my 6-year-old HDD turned down from NINE MINUTES to less than 20 seconds. Takes around the same to load 3Ds Max and all its glory too. The mounting bracket was an issue, yes. I resorted to taping in my SSD because I do haul my computer around a lot for big formal presentations and LAN parties. Review may be a bit premature. Nonetheless, quite happy with it and will buy again! |

Cons:Needed to re tap the 2.5 to 3.5 support to be able to use my lian li thumb screw. OCZ toolbox don't work with some intel driver (but you can download bootable linux live cd to manage the SSD)

316 working hours in 13 day, no issue, needed to align partition because i wanted to keep my OS and it was a breeze. It's very fast and came from NCIX with the 2.5 firmware installed. I Installed Skyrim and the loading time improved greatly. I use it on Sata2 so i have 1/2 of the speed (aprox) and it work very well, since all new motherboard have sata3, i can keep it when i will upgrade my system and for the price this Sata3 SSD is a good investment. The OCZ toolbox don't see the ssd with some INTEL chipset (like X58 on some driver), but you can use the bootable Linux cd with all the thing you need to update firmware and secure erase the drive, i put that in Cons since it fail in windows, but it's realy a good thing if you prefer to not be on windows when you do important thing on the ssd as a primary OS drive.It is my first SSD drive and i'm very impressed, it's not a WOW this change my life but, it seem to be reliable and the response time outclass any HDD, and for this price (and rebate) you can't go wrong with this one |

SSD is the way to go - I've been running the OCZ V3 120GiB for about 85 days. Purchased from NewEgg with no shipping or billing issues. Installation - pretty basic, I'm using the included adapter and screws in a Corsair Carbide 500r drive bay. It is powered by a modular SATA connector from the Corsair HX750 PSU. All other operations from partitioning (PartedMagic6.3) and basic OS (Win7, Fedora16 and Ubuntu11.10) functions were like butter.I delayed comments until I received my rebate (which arrived as a card - haven't blew my 20bucks yet). I followed all the rebate rules and will put equal effort to avoid doing business with OCZ ever again. I feel violated by the rebate process - cutting up the code, filing the approved paperwork, mailing by a specific date only to wait eight weeks. I'm buying an SSD because I like speed - SSD good - waiting eight weeks bad. Worth removing 2 eggs and I feel better now. Good Product - Bad OCZ Customer Service. |

I ordered one of these for the boxing week sale. However due to a shipping error I didn't receive it for several weeks. Because of this, I was unable to mail out the rebate package in time. ( You have to postmark within a certain date of your purchase date)Mail in rebates suck.That minor gripe is really the only thing bad I can say about this drive. I initially has some issues with it not achieving advertised speeds, But i discovered this was due to AHCI not being enabled and the drive not running in SATA3 mode. Once I corrected these, the vertex 3 hit its advertised speeds in tests with Crystaldiskmark.The price is very competitive compared to intel's drives and I have yet to have any kind of crash or bsod or any problem caused by the drive. The current shipping firmware (2.15) seems to fixed any issues others had.I am now considering buying a second for RAID. This review was modfied by poster @ 02-17-12 07:42 PM |
I am really satisfied of this disk, i had a 64GB ssd before but it was too small. Got this on rebate for 129,99$ but forgot to mail the rebate so i got it for 149,99$ and i'm not even MAD.
