I bought this on sale and it included everything I needed to get it setup which is a bonus. I also own a WDTV Live and this is bigger and noisier than the WDTV Live. When the TV is a low volume I can definitely here the fan running which is annoying. Other than that, it's a good product. |

Bought for $50 after rebate it was an impulse purchase. However, this is a truly nice unit. The build quality is great, it is reasonably responsive and it plays everything I have thrown at it. I have taken to feeding it from USB sticks because the server software doesn't play nice with my WHS. The PBO shows up in the network and I can view files on any USB stick inserted into it, on other PCs but the PBO can't seem to read anything stored on the network. I suppose this could be a case of me being incompetent but I can usually figure things out. I gave up on this one.Still a nice handy unit for a tertiary system. It is quick and easy to use while working out. |

I enjoy using the box office for movies, clips and tv series, but cannot hook up a dvd drive to play licensed material, only unlicensed... Otherwise needing to keep a dvd player beside isn't a terrible downside to this wonderful device. |

Great media play for the price. No problems with receiving the rebate. It was easy to setup and download new drivers from the website. Ran into one glitch where my friend had a Vizio TV but did not have sound from the PBO. I was able to download current drivers for the TV from the website and it resolved the problem. |

I bought this a couple of months ago and put a 500GB Scorpio Blue HD inside to store my files on. I also updated the firmware to Medebo. I have also used YAMJ to create the media wall. Cons:- Seems to turn on randomly, although as discussed in the forums it may be another remote doing this- Although the GUI has gotten better over a previous version, it still feels clunky to use. On screen keyboard is really ugly looking (i'm used to xbmc on original xbox which looks a whole lot better)- Mail-in rebates are a pain to use. One would think that in a world of "instant" where everything is connected to everything else, there would be a less painful ways other then snail mailing a rebate form and waiting 8-10 weeks the actual rebate to arrive, specially in the technology industry ...
Pros:- Play all major codecs- Small unit with room for expansion via internal HD- Easy network setup- USB ports- HDMI (for newer TVs) and composite outputs (for older TVs)- Price, got mine for $50, once MIR arrives Comment:

Bought for my parents room so they can stream movies from the server. Loaded on CFW and its a breeze for even them to use. Remote is great, loads up fast, plays everything i throw at it, and quality isn't half bad either. Not at the quality of a PC, but hardly anything to complain about for $40 AR. Composite is a nice touch too for legacy TV's. Not every hotel room has an LCD after all. |

The only issue I have with this is the wireless support... If you are not using UPnP server software (PBO has UPnP capability), wireless network sharing is pretty much impossible with Windows 7 (64 bit especially)... Support for external HDD/USB or internal 2.5" HDD (with 40mm fan :-)) was very good though.But this alone is not worth taking a star off this product review; it performs very well; just make sure you get it on a special or PM ;) |

I got this item in a recent sale, for $40, before tax, and after a MIR, so I figured for that low price I'd take a chance on it, and so far I'm glad I did.This media player has a lot of good features:- Although, admittedly, I haven't used this item extensively, I have, so far, found only 1 video file it wouldn't play, whereas it's played everything else I've thrown at it.- Very small, and with a metal case, very sturdy.- Can mount a 2.5" hard drive internally, and depending on the size you use, it has the possibility to hold an awful lot of media.- Comes with a full featured remote, which, quite frankly, I was surprised at some of the functions it controls, i.e. I didn't expect to be able to change the volume, or tweak the picture settings with the included remote.- Reasonably easy to configure so it can see, and use the files on, any of your networked computers. Personally, at first I had some trouble getting this to work, but after some tinkering, I managed to get this media player to work with both a WinXP box, and a Win7 box.- Has what is probably enough connectivity options for most people.- Can play files via either a front or back USB port.The only thing that's somewhat lacking on this device, is the user interface, i.e. although it works ok, it's just a bit convoluted to navigate, but once you get used to it, it does the job it's meant for, which is all that's really necessary. |

Oh my gosh, this device cost me about $50 (before tax and after rebate). Yes, I did receive my $40 rebate after about 4 weeks.This device is amazing because of the huge bang for buck!I installed a 500GB hard drive in it, loaded it with movies, tv shows, and documentaries... and we took it with us to Vegas because it is so portable.Our room had a huge flat screen and I simply intercepted the HDMI input on the hotel TV to by-pass their hotel TV computer. At home, I connected it to our home network via Ethernet and I can watch Internet videos or xfer new videos to/from this device. I am pleasantly surprised that it appears to support every single CODEC imaginable. Other than the 'weaknesses' I already pointed out, I am very, very happy with this device.But if Patriot is listening, I am happy to pay more for a device that records, etc.. |

upgraded from a usb dvd player to this. Plays all my HD files on my big screen. Put a 500gb drive into it so I have all my movies and tv shows saved onto it to watch anytime. Plays any file from a usb stick very well so you don't need a internal drive.Comes with a free wireles adapter but only issue I have found is file transfer speeds over it have not been very good. Updated my router recently so may have to try again. |

I got this unit on last boxing day, and after more than 3 months of usage, the remote control is completely dead. But the good thing is Logitech harmony remote has Patriot to select. Now, I am using one remote for all of my devices for my home theater.
