affordable Didn't perform with optical drives (Samsung TS-H492A/BEBN or LITEON SHM-165H6S). Attempted with two sata controllers and the distinct jumper settings, still no go.

Does what it says. Just make positive you have the jumper setting appropriate. Wonderful at clearing the clutter of you 4 ATA devices because the SATA cables are nice and thin. Appears like it just wants to slide out, and isn't fully safe all the time. If you move your rig a lot, it may possibly slip out. Only a slight increase in functionality from turning your ATA HD into a SATA HD. BUT there is a slight barely noticeable one particular.

Smaller and straightforward to install This seemed like a great idea but I spent three to 4 hours of my limited time trying to get this to operate and I couldn't. There is no manuel per se, in the box. Good concept if you can make it operate but I couldn't and I generally am fairly very good at acquiring these kinds of items to function. I wouldn't waste my time.

Worked fine and booted proper up with my Asus cd-rw drive. My process didn't detect my Sony dvd-rw drive with my Asus cd-rw drive as my master and my Sony dvd-rw drive as slave (as chosen by jumper settings). After a though I decided to set the non-detected Sony to "cable choose" and it booted up fantastic. I did a victory dance right after the cable choose idea worked.

Plugged it into my 120gb WDC ide HD and it worked like a charm, no much more ide cables!saved me obtaining to buy a entire new sata drive. attempted it with my liton cd/dvd rw drive and no luck on any jumper setting. Im guessing this wasnt meant for optical drives. The energy connectors were shoddy with two of the 4 pins pushed back out of the plastic piece. This is something you want to plug in as soon as and under no circumstances mess with once again. Other than the shoddy plugs it worked excellent with my HD, and despite the 10mb cache ide limitation that exists reguardless of the sata connection i noticed a definite raise in speed and stability versus a brand new ide cable. 90% of all my pc freezes, slowdowns and crashes have been because of loose ide connections and/or broken and bent cables (sometimes causing me to reload windows beneath the notion the dilemma is software program connected), so you can realize why i should say this:Death to IDE! Death to garbage technology!

None. Does not work. No directions in the box, on the box, or on the manufacturer's web website. I tried to use it on an IDE DVD burner and an 250 gig IDE HD. Pc could not detect either device making use of this adapter. I also attempted all jumper settings on the IDE devices. It just doesn't operate. Don't waste your time with this item.

NONE Just plain didn't function. I attempted every little thing I could believe of. In the finish I would have been superior off getting new drives. This wasted way as well significantly time. Time is cash. Dollars buys new drives. Really should have completed that. Yes, I did use them the correct way. They just do not function. What a bummer. First RMA.

It finally did enable me to use my old IDE DVD burner on a new motherboard with only SATA capability. It did not come with documentation. It took a day of experimenting to locate which settings on the drive and which energy settings in the laptop or computer need to have to be set just before this issue would in fact perform. That exact same day was also spent in identifying all the different SATA configurations this board is capable of and narrowing it down to 1 that would function. DO NOT Obtain unless your technical understanding rates five or larger on Newegg's scale. If your technical information isn't that high, look at replacing the drive in query.

immediately after i flashed my bios and cleared the cmos, i set my drive to cable select and then gave it another shot. now it functions beautifully. didn't function the initial couple times i tried it. the integrated "manual" is a one particular-sided half-web page insert that just reiterates the similar point that the manufacturer web web page says, and that's not really useful or clear either.

Comment:
It is small and hardly adds something to the challenging drive. Performs properly for the most aspect. Fantastic for converting old ide external hard drive situations to sata. It advertised that it could break the 128 gb limit on older computers. I attempted using one particular of these items on a 160 gb sata drive and installed in a iMac G3 to see if it was correct. It booted up and the usual Apple appeared, but that was it for 15 minutes till I turned off the laptop or computer. Apparently does not work when utilized for the key drive. I originally bought 1 to see if I could convert a ide external challenging drive situation to sata and it did it with only the occasional hick up of a 1 or two second delay now and then. Purchased two far more to experiment with some old macs I have to break the 128 gb limit on them. I 1st tried jumper 1-3, and no jumper for master did not function at all then jumper at cs 2-four to finally get it to show the grey apple, but absolutely nothing following that . If any 1 has an concept on how to make it function let me know. This is an update to my first review I posted in September.

aswome speed for my motherboard raid system. extremely fantastic performace from old ATA 133 drives u can't overclock a complete lot when u have these babyS installed. I was in a position to push my method to a FSB of 220-225. any high FSB my ecs mother board won't reconize the drives. very good design, and an great way to add drives to your program for added space or whatever.

Worked fine the very first try, consists of power adapter to power each HDD and adapter from one four-pin feed. A small loose in the IDE connector. Pins exposed on the back end (just be careful not to touch against something). Should be redesigned to consist of SATA power to molex connecter as well. Why use SATA cable when you would nonetheless have to run a different 4-pin molex with it? My drive 鴈GB Maxtor DM9) was set to master (jumper). Energy run to both drive and adapter. Worked fine, no require to change jumpers on adapter at all.Device worked fine, but rating lowered due to possible dilemma with adapter only getting supported by IDE pins.

It operates, and it is extremely close to the thickness of a three.5 inch drive It is 2mm larger than a three.five inch drive which can trigger troubles in the high drive density servers I create I purchased this as a test piece. The a single I seriously wanted was cheaper and was an "inline" rather than "right-angle" board. It was out of stock, but at least I know that this factors will function with my highpoint RAID controllers.

It functions like it's supposed to, connected my really usable ATA133 300GB HD over SATA. Fits great in my Antec P180. Wonderful way to continue to use your PATA drives when you run out of IDE connectors on your motherboard. It also gets rid of the ribbon cable and that can enhance airflow. none that I see I genuinely like how the power cable is just a floppy power connector, so to clear up some of the cable mess I just disconnected the power and plugged in the floppy header from my PSU.

My dad wanted to put his NEC 3550 DVD-RW in his new Dell E521 enterprise machine but his new comp. is sata only. I believed we were taking a likelihood acquiring this, but his NEC drive was recognized right away as a NEC 3550a, so we are Pleased! It worked fantastic for us! None but, operates as advertised with a sata only Dell E521 and a ide NEC 3550A DVD-RW.

it's really smaller and compact. i can't make it work with my motherboard and ide devices. i've tried each with and with out the jumper on, mastered and slaved, on a difficult drive and on a cd burner, and it will not operate. tends to make boot up take about 60 seconds longer and then i errors out with a message that the ide bus has timed out. i guess it's time to acquire true sata drives, and then this won't be a problem.
