It does permit you to have an IDE drive perform as an SATA drive with tiny difficulty. I've got it set on my old secondary drive It is horribly, awfully slow. It is so slow, that when I attempt to play music from it, the music will have to buffer. Music from my Difficult DISK. Copying a 50mb file takes a small over 2 minutes. I'm not positive what this factor is supposed to be fantastic for if it takes a year to copy factors. arg

I just hooked it up and set it outside the case, becuase i purchased it just to restore data from ide drive.Note: Do not use the most important sata hd/speed ports. Use a normal hd sata port.

I have been working with this @ function for two years now. Fantastic. Purchase this thing. IDE channels are quickly going away on modern systems. My Dell Dimension e521 Has none. This is a genuinely great item. Use a jumper for Optical drives. Most drives function if set to Master. No Hardshell case like other individuals have. That's why this one is affordable. It was ื a few years ago! GET this now although it's low cost!

I got a new Pc with SATA-only support. These devices allowed me to use my IDE drives perfectly. They're a little delicate. Just be careful when you put them on or take them off. IDE drives run hotter than SATA. Don't know whether or not it's associated to the adapters.

None that I can tell. They didn't perform at all, the workmanship was shoddy and they fell out repeatedly. I've observed reviewers say they operate if you do additional issues to maintain them in location, but you shouldn't have to if you buy them and they don't do the job...That's the point of shopping for something, it should be operating from the beginning. It functions! Just set drive to cable choose. A SATA power connctor or adapter would have been good. Concern that board could brief out against my zip drive. Had to put duct tape over back side of board to shield from this. If it wasn't for these 2 items, I would have given it a 5. I've got a asus a7n8x mobo at rev 1008 with two sata interfaces onboard, running Linux (FC6). Difficult disks work fine, reading, writing, booting.My bios is limiting them to ata-100 even thou they are ata-133 drives. Tested on IBM and Maxtor drives. Molex connector has lose pins, makes pluging in a chore. DVD (plextor 504a) would read but could not get it to boot, again may be my bios. Excellent cost to get some life out of old drives.
