none Dead on arrival. I purchased it, plugged it in, thought my challenging drive was dead on arrival as properly, but i plugged it in to a diff. laptop or computer and it worked fine. I wish i wouldve gotten to see if this in fact worked. But alas, it didn't. Maybe I'll return the difficult drive (for my incompitance to even realize there was a unique sort of plug on a difficult drive) and get one with my regular plug.

Effortless resolution to get your IDE drives into a SATA setup. Didn't come with a SATA cable; Fit could be a dilemma depending on your chassis (see comments beneath). I got this adapter to put an IDE difficult drive into a new Dell XPS400 (BTX chassis design). The item functions great, but the way this case is designed, there is no room to mount the second tough drive and nonetheless accomodate the adapter and cables - even 90-degree plugs. This is absolutely the smallest adapter readily available, so it's absolutely nothing against this item. Just strategy ahead if you don't have an additional half-inch to spare behind your device for the adapter plus cables.

It functions. My computer system thinks I have another SATA drive. No directions of any type. It came without jumpers and that's the way I employed it. 3 connectors were utilised. The drive energy connector, the card energy and the SATA.

Installed bridge on a WD400BB Challenging Drive. Had to supply energy to both the bridge and the drive (contary to the advice of Sabrent Tech support that mentioned "if 1 energy hookup does't perform try the other" and "it is not necessary to supply power to each the board and the drive - either will suffice."). Had to allow an extra sata drive in program setup just before windows xp was in a position to recognize the EIDE drive. As soon as recognized, the drive worked flawlessly. No install directions had been included. No install directions are present on Sabrent's web page. Sabrent's Technical support seemed unfamiliar with there own product - as I recieved the incorrect install information from them. I rec'd a single sata information cable with the bridge. No energy cable was included nonetheless. I installed this product in a Dell XPS 410. I had no raid drive. Bios was operating in a raid configuration even so (default). I didn't have to modify this default setting for the bridge to function. Program Model: Dell DXP061 BIOS Version: Dell Inc. two.five. Othe comments had been beneficial prior to buy - Thanx everybody

This converter actually does the job. I have had no troubles at all with the product. I have 6 drive in my computer. Four of the drives are IDE. I have 6 SATA on the MB. This item has worked so properly that I have 4 of them. none Even although the little convert demands the power of and FDD plug, you still have to plug in the normal power cord to the HDD. Just a thought when I hook up my initially 1 I believed that like normal SATA that the FDD would power the complete thing. It does not. So If your brief on power connectors from your Energy supply this may be a con.

The device is straightforward to install. I connected it to a IOMEGA 250MB ZIP Drive, and it worked perfectly. Does not come with a master/slave jumper or a SATA data cable.

The price is next to the lowest I have found. It works as described so what more do you want. I have located no slowness about it getting applied with my tough drive. Somewhat delicate, but it is only a tiny circuit board. Had to change pin setting to slave to make positive it worked with my difficult drive. Yes there are no directions, but do you actually want them. If needed here is what you do: 1) Put the sata side of the chip on your sata drive. 2) alter jumper to master or slave depending on application. 3) Cautiously connect your ide device to other side four) Plug your power connection to board. Your completed I put this on a sata difficult drive for an ata/ide external case and at present employing the 500 gb hd as my iTunes storage/player. I have noticed no delay in bring up songs or even playing movies from this external drive. I program on getting much more to eleminate the 128 gb barrier on my blue and white powermac. The test I did with the chip just before utilizing it in the external case proved it will do this.

Inexpensive, compact, small to go wrong No actual documentation, in particular for the one thing you DO require to know. The board has a set of jumpers on it. If you use this board and fire up your machine, and the machine takes forever to "find" the hard drive, just energy down the machine, eliminate the board and put the jumper on the other set of pins. Difficulty solved.

I was able to hook-up a Sony DRU 720a series CD-RW/DVD-RW writer with no concern - necessary a reboot and then came proper up... Works with many Tough drives and even worked on an older ATA100 maxtor drive that I had given up on ever recovering the data... a small slow to recognize some drives but soon after a reboot - it works fine... I require to get two additional of these asap!!!

smaller poorly produced Can't actually say I applied it. I purchased two of these so I could reuse an old IDE Challenging Drive and DVD Burner. They both worked for two boots, then they died. Really lame. Steer clear of these. If you want to convert, go get an external IDE to USB case and use that, not these internal boards.

Keeps legacy drives alive Undocumented. A followup to the review I posted earlier: Working with Link Depot round cables, I identified that the plugs DO latch in the socket on the adaptor. This could be a case of designing the connector precisely to the regular, rather than to what is frequently applied. (I prefer the round cables for their limp flexibility.)On performance:Running an older 225MB drive I took off the shelf, I was able to accomplish 95 MB/sec at the start out of a linear read of the disk, and one thing over 80 at the end. (FreeBSD, dd if=/dev/ad2 of=/dev/null XXk; measured by systat -vmstat; XX is the command's abbreviation for block size, which NewEgg's assessment reviewing software program has identified as uncivil and improper.) This means 750+ 128kB transactions/second for the 85 MB/sec.This seems a lot more than adequate for common use.

Works perfectly with every difficult drive I tested it on Ɣ total). Initially, it did not function nicely with my DVD burner, Lite-On SOHW-1693s... read on for a further explanation. Initially, my drive was detectable only in the BIOS and not in Windows (I tried each controllers on my motherboard). I realized the jumper on the device was incorrectly placed, at the factory. If you look at it with the IDE connector facing down, the jumper should brief the leading 2 pins (making a horizontal connection). Further, if you appear cautiously at the writing on the board, these two pins are associated with "J2". I received it with the correct two pins shorted (vertical connection) - connecting the positive lead of the “LED” connector with a pin of “J2.” That can’t be proper. For much more proof of this reality, the Rosewill RC-204 IDE to SATA adapter, also sold here, is identical to this (except for the I.C.), it has the right placement of the jumper, and has generally worked for me in the past. When I made the correction, the drive worked flawlessly. Jumper settings on the drives themselves make no distinction, but F.Y.I, I left them as "Cable Choose." Motherboard: Asus P5B-E, OS: Windows XP.

Smaller, saved a drive from the junk drawer, works nicely following configured. Instruction sheet is less than useless. Does not give any hints about jumper settings and talks about LED's and a power switch that are not even present on the board. I utilized this on a 100 Megabyte IDE Zip drive. The drive had to be jumpered to cable choose and the jumper on the adapter board had to be moved to the left position. I also cut a plastic insulator to spot in among the adapter board and the drive because the boards exposed contacts touched the metal drive case.

This device was bought on the reading of one of the other reviews...I was not fairly ready to give up my 250 MB Zip drive and with no secondary IDE on my MB, I was able to turn it into a SATA Zip. None encountered, with the exception that the device is unrecognized by my XP x64 OS...no surprise there though, alot of stuff isn't recognized! I was able to resurrect my Zip with this and along with a Teac adapter (to convert from a three.5" to a 5.25" was able to slide it in with no dilemma!

product did allow me to connect old ide dvd burner to new sata mobo. while read rate is fine, burn rate is CONSIDERABLY slower than in old pc configuration. economical at build time but be sure you budget for burner upgrade at a later date.
