XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 120mm Rifle CPU Cooler I5 775 AMD compatible
Comment:
-Good heat dissipation.-Fan is straightforward to replace with a far more effective one to further boost effectiveness. -Very significant, fairly heavy too. Exerts a considerable moment of torque on your motherboard.-Mounting hardware is horrible and cheaply created, specifically for how heavy it is (MOUNTING FOR LGA 1366 NOT PROVIDED!) I like this heatsink design but I had to machine new mounting brackets to fit my motherboard. It totally is NOT LGA1366 compatible out of the box. This ended up adding three hours to my program develop time; a severe inconvenience at very best. Builders with out tool or workshop skills would not have been able to mount it effectively. |

XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 120mm Rifle CPU Cooler I5 775 AMD compatible
Cons:AMD orientation
Pros:Simple design.quick installsolid construction Comment:
I installed this on an Asus A8N32-sli deluxe board. OEM CPU fan failed. This was easy to install. Lots of clearance over ram and motherboard heat pipes. I am seeing about a 10C drop in idle temps and about 7 to 8C drop in full load temps. I had two problems, one I already knew of. The orientation with AMDs is either top-bottom or vise versa. I would rather have it front to back. The other issue was I located the lock lever on the same side as the fan. The lever kinda sits a bit high and doesn't allow the fan to sit flush with the top of the cooler. It is very close and hardly noticeable and I highly doubt it effects cooling at all. I does make getting the rubber locks in a bit hard. In a way with the fan sitting over the lever it acts like a secondary lever lock to keep it down. I didn't use the stock fan. I used a Cooler Master R4 instead. The fans are the same size. Between 1500 - 2000 rpm I can't tell hear the difference, very quiet. |

Cons:None
Pros:Value, quiet fan, keeps temps nice and low Comment:
Using this with the Xigmatek crossbow mounting kit for LGA1156 (ACK-I5361 I think) and mounting was no problem. Keeps my Core i5 750 between 20-30C without making any noise. |

Cons:hard to install. does not fit some cases.
Pros:very good cooling, low price. Comment:
great cooling for low price. probably one of the better direct touch coolers out there. this was pretty difficult to install, the instruction manual was not very clear. the heatsink might be a bit too long for some cases. |

Cons:bolt thru kit is a MUST! push pins are terrible
Pros:Runs quiet, keeps cpu cool, Direct touch, fan installation is simple Comment:
Make sure you buy the Xigmatek Bolt thru kit for a sturdy installation because push pins are horrible. The bottom fin is touching the fins on my Rampage Extreme so do your research for case and mobo compatibility. |

XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 120mm Rifle CPU Cooler I5 775 AMD compatible
Cons:None.
Pros:Great cooling.Reasonable price. Comment:
I did not use the stock fan as I needed a fan with red Led's to match the case fans.I used the silnex IXTREMA Pro red 120mm Led fan.Was running an OCZ Vendetta 2 cooler, but was getting higher than expected temperatures when running Prime 95.Idle temperatures dropped 5'C Load temps 9'C over the OCZ cooler.(running a Phenom 2 955 at 3600mhz).Easy install on my AMD system. Intel users may have a harder install. |

XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 120mm Rifle CPU Cooler I5 775 AMD compatible
Cons:None
Pros:Excellent cooling, quiet, fan included Comment:
Excellent heatsink especially for the money. I had a lesser brand which failed and bought one of these. CPU temps dropped by at least 10C. Comes with a fan that is pretty quiet. Would recommend backing plate for best fit. Great buy, will start testing it when I begin my overclocking journey. |

XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 120mm Rifle CPU Cooler I5 775 AMD compatible
Cons:For the price, it's not as good as the OCZ Vendetta 2 which could be found at the same price.Does not come with LG1156 or LG1366 kit.
Pros:Compact, gets the job done and silent. 3 heat copper heat pipes and one 120mm fan. Comment:
We bought this cpu heatsink to replace a very bad stock heatsink, which was loud and could not stick to the motherboard. Our idle temperature dropped ten degrees and at full load temperature dropped 7 degrees on average. The 120mm is much more silent than the old 92mm fan. The heatsink itself could be a bit larger to spread more heat but that would increase the weight. Although this product is roughly 100g more heavier then what intel recommended, it has no problem staying put to the motherboard. Great product overall. |

Pros:Great CoolingQuiet Comment:
This is a excellent heatsink performs very well. Running a i5-750 and i have a idle Temp of 21, Load Temp of 31.Could not install with the included pushpins on my LGA 1156 motherboard. Bought a bolt kit and was able to attach to my motherboard. The instructions are also printed very small and difficult overall. |

Cons:Push clip works for LGA775 mounting but not very secure; will not fall off nevertheless.
Pros:Great value! Very quiet and effective fan. Heatsink is very effective. The included TIM is very good quality. Comment:
You will need a mid tower to use this monster. Very nice heatpipe design and effective cooling. I'm able to overclock a E7400 from 2.8GHz to 3.8GHz; temperature stays below 70C under torture tests. During typical load on 3.8GHz, temperature in the 30-40C range. |

This is a great heatsink for the price. $22 after MIR for me. I'm using it to cool a Q9300 p a mild 3.0Ghz and it never goes over 55 on load in my warm bedroom. |

Cons:Better cooling requires to use the mobo backplate which is not included.
Pros:Good cooling performance. Relatively inexpensive. Comment:
This cooler works fine. If you want really good contact (and better cooling) you need to purchase the motherboard backplate which will allow the cooler to be fit tighter onto the CPU. I did not get the backplate but since I don't overclock the CPU much, it works fine for me. |

XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 120mm Rifle CPU Cooler I5 775 AMD compatible
Cons:Attachment system to the motherboard doesn't hold well on my mobo(LGA 775 attachment kit), and because of the sheer weight of the heatsink kept unclipping and exposing my CPU and it would overheat.
Pros:Definately helps cool the CPU efficiently and much quieter than a standard cooler Comment:
If Xigmatek could beef up the clips to attach the cooler to the motherboard it would be awesome, I ended up using metal wire to strap it down and haven't had any issues.Overall an awesome cooler when it stays attached to the CPU. This review was modfied by poster @ 01-07-10 12:00 PM |

Cons:-none observed.
Pros:-Great performance to price ratio!-Efficient cooling design Comment:
This is an excellent cooler, especially for under $40. brought temps down from 58 peak to high 40's on an AMD PII 940. Just don't forget to clean off the residue left by the protective sticker. |

Cons:Amount of assembly required. Lousy rubber vibration isolators that are hard to get through the holes in the fan body.
Pros:Well built. Copper heat pipes. Big fan. Comment:
This heatsink is doing it's job great. Nice and quiet and appears to be very well built. Plus, the price is right. |

XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 120mm Rifle CPU Cooler I5 775 AMD compatible
Cons:Cannot be rotated when installed on an AM2/AM3 socket but that's more of a socket limitation I suppose.
Pros:Very high performance, low noise, relatively light weight compared to other tower heatsinks. Very easy AM2/AM3 socket installation. Low cost. Comment:
I had installed one of these things to replace a Scythe Mugen on top of a Phenom II X4 955. At 3.7GHz, the load temps decreased by 11 degrees.I also bought one more of these coolers to replace a loud, whining Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro sitting on top of a Phenom X4 9850 BE at 2.8GHz. Temps went down 17 degrees at load and the loud noises subsided, too. :) |

XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 120mm Rifle CPU Cooler I5 775 AMD compatible
Cons:- Still too big. If only they can have smaller ver. that does just as much!
Pros:- Much cooler than my previous Ninja Mini! Comment:
This heatsink is cheap for all the heat it can take. Highly recommended and one of the best that is out there for AM2. Only wished the size would shrink just a bit. Then again that goes for pretty much all heatsinks. |

XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 120mm Rifle CPU Cooler I5 775 AMD compatible
Cons:Rubber anti-vibration screws were a pain to thread through the fan. After using vaseline + pliers it slipped in easy (which means its not tooless :p). Mounting the fan on the heatsink was a bit difficult. I only managed to get 3 on the fins, the 4th is sitting on the side but it's secure enough.
Pros:Works wonders on my Phenom II X2 550 overclocked on stock volts to 3.6GHz -- 14 degree drop under load (3-4 degree drop idle) with some old Arctic Silver II I had lying. Comment:
Instructions weren't the greatest for a first timer, but the product is simply fantastic which trumps all the cons. Mounts up/down on AM2+ board which is no issue in my Antec 300.P.S. time to unlock to quad and head for 4.0GHz |

Cons:- None for me.
Pros:- Incredible cooling performance- Practically inaudible- Inexpensive compared to similar competition Comment:
Installed this in a system with a Pentium E5200. I feel like I can overclock that chip to any speed without worrying about temperature with this heatsink (other stability issues like memory notwithstanding, haha). Even after gaming, it's cool to the touch and the included fan is practically inaudible. |

Cons:Size
Pros:Easy Install (AM2), Good Cooling, Quiet Comment:
I am using this cooler for a Athlon64 X2 6400+, which ran hot on my ASUS M2N32-SLI Deluxe motherboard. It snapped right into place like my stock cooler did, and has lowered the CPU temp by 11-14deg under load. It's also very quiet. The only thing I wasn't prepared for was just how big this thing is... I guess I shold have figured with the 120mm fan, but it's still surprising. I did have to move my RAM to the upper slots, but some RAM may not reqiure this. All n all, an excellent cooler at a great price! |

Cons:a bit large and was hard to plug in a my 8 pin
Pros:cools welllooks pretty cool Comment:
this cools my stuff well, even with using the included thermal compound. i installed using bolt-thru and im still using the stock fan as well. |

Ice Cold to the touch. This thing is a beast. It was too huge for my case. I had to dremmel the case wall to make room for the poky bits and the end of the cooler. Then when I got a new motherboard it slightly shifted the cooler so I had to dremmel holes once more. You can totally remove the fan! I had left mine on for a year and the inside (between the fan and the metal fins) became so completely caked with dust that the fan was ineffective anyway. So I removed the fan and just stuck it in my personal computer anyway. It works good! Just the airflow in the case itself is much more than sufficient to cool my cpu. If you want a silent pc this heatsink is a good start.
