Just an average DVD drive. A lot cheaper then Lite-On 8X bought 7 years ago. The included software e-green something doesn't recognized the drive despite Asus claimed it is one of their feature. Despite finding the right firmware from ASUS website, the firmware failed to recognize the drive. Nero burning software is so rundown with junk it is depressing. Find Imgburn, free and very useful for reading and writing ISO. |

I bought this DVD writer with the intention of only using it to install the odd program or burn the odd disc. For that purpose it is a good drive and at a good price. It doesn't come with a lot of features but for the price that's understandable and so if you only need the bare minimum from a DVD writer this is a good choice. |

There may be other DVD-RW with a better price, but one could not be far too wrong to choose this, as it does all pretty well and at a good price. The only problem I found is that the useful Nero burning software it came with is not compatible with the Windows Server 2008 machine I installed the DVD-RW. This surprised me, because most Windows 7 drivers work under Windows Server 2008 R2, which is the version I am using. |

Comes with a little software.Didn't need to update firmware.. believe it came with 1.05It gets pretty loud, probaly the loudest Drivebut again its the fastest optical driver ive ever use.for $20 can't complain or expect too much |
Just a usual, working DVD drive. Works well, only problem is that in an effort to conserve power I guess, it spins down almost without delay, so that next read 10s later gets held up until it spins back up. Not a big issue though.
