I wish they would've included a SATA Data cable. I was forced to buy a relatively low quality cable for a high price in a retail electronics store. When they say OEM they mean OEM. You get:-Pink bubble wrap bag (doesn't even come in it's own box).-Driver installation CD.-Envelope for said CD.-Actual product.

Just got this drive and installed it with ease. The bundled software that came with it is your standard Nero OEM bundle (no complaints). I never have a DVD writer before for no utility but now is hot for the price.

-It's good if you're looking for a cheap dvd burner, asus have always made reliable products, I don't know why this one would break the rule. Got it on sale for 17$ so IMO its a nice purchase. I recommend it to anyone looking for a cheap dvd burner

Got this on sale at $17, very good price. Looks like DVD burner are phasing out, let's see how long it takes for BD writer to drop  to around $50..not long.

Impressive! This thing is immensely more silent than my 3 years old Lite-On DVD burner. I can't really comment on the performance, but I can tell you this is actually fairly silent! This is also about the cheapest DVD burner NCIX carries. It also looks fairly great - ASUS makes great products.

This thing is fast, but is very loud on startup(loud sound like an old P4 system starting up). It is very loud while installing things too.It plays movie quietly though.Picked up for $17 though, great deal for the speed of it and ASUS quality

Not to much to say as it is what it is. lol. Drive works well. Wanted a sony but they seem to not carry them anymore at ncix so got this instead. Dont regret it, works well. No coasters so far.

I paid a little over $10 for this drive. It's totally worth it for people who want to upgrade from a IDE optical drive.Highly recommended!

I wanted a second drive on my computer in addition to my blu-ray drive. I saw this ASUS unit at such a low price, I didn't hesitate a second.It's a great DVD/CD drive. Fast, quiet.

A good quality, inexpensive DVD burner. A plus is that it comes with good software including Nero Essentials 10.

Read many information of this drive on the web. It gets excellent customer feedback on newegg. There are "2" revision of this drive. The first has a firmware version of 1.03 or lower, and the newer one has a firmware version of 1.04 or higher. Both are supposedly Lite-on rebadge. Didn't cross-flash it because I want to try the default firmware first. It does have nice burns and operate pretty quiet. You can also use the Lite-on region-free utility with the original ASUS firmware.

I love this drive as it is so quiet. It’s my first time buying an Asus dvd writer and I don’t have any regrets. I like all the the fact that it came with nero burning essential 10 software which was a pleasant surprised as I didn’t expect anything other than the bare drive.The price was very good an I was able to price match it, so this make the drive an even better value. Just make sure that you have an extra sata cable and four mounting screws handy as the drive didn’t come with those.

Have tried many OEM dvd writers and I think this ASUS drive is the best by far. Very quiet, looks great and was a great addition to my ASUS mini tower. Even came with a CD with drivers and software.

First time I'm buying an Asus dvd burner and it's great so far for only 10$ after PM.

After being price-matched I think ASUS is the winner, I've owned a Samsung SATA 22X and it only lasted 3 years, I say only not because 3 years is short, in fact, 3 years for an optical drive may sound a normal lifespan but in my case, I RARELY use it so the "only" is well put in my situation.I only use it to install Windows 7 (recently being installed via my 16GB USB Flash Drive). Other than that, I, from time to time burn some blanc DVDs & CDs and need the drive to play GTA IV that requires reading from its original DVD (I tried to mount the ISO with PowerIso in the virtual-drive but doesn't work) with some games you really need the DVD.I don't know how long this drive will survive but I hope I will have at least another 3 years but I expect 5.
