Got this for my first computer build to replace a 6 1/2 year old P4 1.3 Ghz Compaq computer. This is FAST. have 2G of 800Mhz RAM. Computer boots up and I'm on the internet in less than a min. after in Windows. Included heat sink/fan was a little difficult installing, but this was my first time. Processor stays cool though. Recommended!

Huge performance jump from 4 yrs. old Athlon XP2500 Easy OC to 3.6Ghz with stock voltages on GA-EP35-DS3L with Mushkin HP6400 2x2GB I recommend AC Freezer 7 Pro as low cost cooling improvement.

What a fantastic CPU / its a Beauty and the Beast in one CPU, Very Happy, But Very Sad, The Fan that comes with it push-button connectors are trash I have seen those pop loose if you don't crack your board trying to install it.... What a big goof up- Intel....A cheap-o Fan that can ruin your CPU..I know its not your fault Tiger but something needed to be said.... Thanks Tiger I came Fast as always.

I''m getting me a aftermarket cooler,next is 4.0gh! Awsome cpu and u won't drain the savings !

This is a very good buy, one of the best for a CPU. This CPU is the point where Intel surpasses everyone in terms of performance. In some applications, this chip rivals, or even beats, some of the quads from Intel, and all of the quads from other manufacturers. The most noticeable difference, how fast it converts media files. Using the same eSATA drive to transfer the same 30 gigs of WMA to itunes on 2 different machines, one with an e6400, one with this. This processor got the task done in almost half the time. Competitor's chips can rarely do what the e6400 is capable of, much less the e8400 45 nm chip. 45nm has impressed me in every way a processor can. The new chipsets from Intel and Nvidia make it even better. For $300, you can get the most modern Intel mobo and chip. Together, they outperform what you would have spent $600 or more for a few months ago

Excellent processor for the money. Overclocks very easy. Also here is a tip. To get it to work on a n force 680i motherboard you need to update the bios first. Otherwise it will not work. I have an exf nforce 680i motherboard and it runs great. boots fast

Very Nice. I applied this chip to the ASUS P5Q-E Green Intel P45 Socket 775 with a Masscool 8W553 Intel Socket 775 CPU Fan. It works flawlessly so far. I like the increased processing speed over the Intel P4 chip (2.8 Ghz) that I just unloaded.

It's faster than dammit, has LOTS of overhead for OCing, cool(45nm), it's TDP is low(65W i believe), and best of all CHEAP! Running this on an ASUS Maximus II formula w/4gigs DDR2 and 2 4870s in Crossfire. In about 3 minutes I kicked it to E8500 performance through the BIOS with a very mild overclock and saw negilible temperature change. LCS is on the way...next step, 4.0ghz!

Best value CPU period. As many programs cannot take advantage of quad-core CPUs, this will give you more bang for the buck than any C2Q or C2E I have seen. Great buy, I'll use it until the Core i7's come out.

Without a doubt the best value for a CPU period. Combine this with a 7 series Nforce board and a high quality cpu cooler and these can overclock 1.0ghz to 1.2ghz above stocks speeds and still be cool and stable! I have a 790i Ultra MB, and a Asus Silent Square Pro cooler and I OC mine to 4.05ghz with no changes to the fan speed and my temps stay at a very respecable low 50's idle and high 60's load. The E8500 gets to 4.2ghz on air easier than the E8400, the E8400 can max out at 4.0ish but can in many cases get to 4.2ghz. What they don't tell you is that most games today are optimized for dual core CPU's! A $170 E8400 @ 4.05ghz is just as fast if not faster than some of these $400 or $500 quad core CPU's because they cannot overclock nearly as high and half of their cores are not being used by the game anyway. You can also push these things to the absolute limit and not worry if it dies because it's so cheap to replace, you can't do that with a $1000 extreme edition CPU. Buy this CPU!

Great processor, a BEAST. Should be able to overclock well, low power usage (and less heat as a result). Stock fan is horrible but who cares? I ended up breaking it and replaced it with an aftermarket cooler.

Excellent processor. Runs fantastically on XP, huge jump in performance from my old e6400, which runs at 2.13 ghz on a 1066 bus. Ordered on Monday and arrived Wednesday afternoon, payed less than 10$ shipping. Very happy first-time Tiger customer!!!

Great processor, OC'd to 3.4GHz on air with an 3rd party 4000 RPM heatsink and fan easy! Very fast for gaming. I used to run the all mighty Q6600 OC'd to 3.6GHz, and I'll tell you, if you're playing CURRENT games thats NOT written to take advanage of four cores, this chip is the way to go because tests show (http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/processors/3d-studio-max-9,369.html). And I'm getting better performance with what I have tested. If you're the type that want to run two, three Apps while running a game thats a good reason to go for the Quad. BOTTOM LINE: CORE 2 DUO E8400= CURRENT GAMES; QUAD CORE= APPS and FUTURE GAMES. CASE CLOSED! One more thing... E8500= Waste of an etra $90+! Why? Just to get an etra .16GHz? When you can just OC the E8400 to get that. Grab some extra memory with that $90 if needed. ;)

I got this processor bundled with the Intel DG335EC motherboard. With 2gig dual channel ram it runs like a rocket! Installed vista business 64bit and I have to say it's the best performing, most stable PC in the building. Either as part of a bundle, and upgrade, or just by itself for your new PC, you can't go wrong with this processor.

Unbelievable performance for the money. I have this processor overclocked to 3.6 GHZ and it doesn;t even bat an eyelid. There is some debate on the web about temps and this processor, but even with the overclock, I can't get it over 50C with a burn in test. The only thing I would recommend is that you buy an aftermarket cooler, and not use the the one that comes in the retail box. Buy it now.

Bought off of another site about two months ago for $212. This is the best processor of the Wolfdale family for performance and value. The E8500 only gives a .16 GHz improvement for $90+. I would recommend this CPU to anyone, but make sure you MoBo can run with it. I had to swap out CPU's to flash my MoBo's (Asus P5K Deluxe WiFi AP) BIOS to run this one.
