Awesome CPU for the price. I built a computer for a friend and we put an E8400 in it. I have an E6850 in mine (3.0 GHz, still around $300) and this one performs better, runs cooler, and is almost a hundred dollars cheaper. It runs pretty cool around 35 C using just the stock cooler. Had a lot of trouble getting it to run though. The ASUS nForce 650i board we got (which had ''45 nm Support'' printed all over it) wouldn't support this, we had lots of blue screens and hardware errors. I dropped in a spare E6600, it ran fine, did a BIOS update and put the E8400 back in and now it runs great. Windows Vista benchmarks this CPU at 5.7 (my E6850 is a 5.6) so overall this is a very fast and cheap CPU.

This thing is blazing fast. Blazing, because with the stock cooler it gets burning hot exactly as Kelvin described it as. Will get Zalman fan to bring the core temperature down. The stock cooler is very cheap and plasticy too. Didn't go on at first and brought my CPU up to 110 C before I reseated it. WoW has 250 fps now, can you say OVERKILL? =D

This CPU is great! I did a whole bunch of research and I guess if you buy ANY OTHER CPU (Thats not 45nm) you will be wasting money. This thing is 2-10% faster then the E6850 witch is around 300 now. Trust me, I did around a month of research (2 hours aday at least, I was alittle obsessed and bored) and I found out that around april 20th the CPU prices off the old CPUs (65nm not 45nm) will drop, quads will drop around 50%. Anyway, the point is if you are building a new computer buy this! Quads arnt even worth it for games, but if you do need a quad wait for the Q8xxx to come out. I also put this on a XFX 680i and you need to update the bios for it to work properly, after that I had no problems.

i bought the OEM processor from TD, and i'm quite pleased w/ it. It is smooth & quiet, and overclocks easily. i'm just running it at 9x370fsb, 3.330ghz, and that's fine for now. TigerDirect rocks (even though the boxed cpu is now same price as my OEM ver from 1 week ago... oh well.) cheers, it's a great cpu, the e8400.

If you are going to game or do work on a computer then this Processor is the one to buy. It is the fastest I have ever had , and I have built a lot of computers. It runs cool and is not hard to keep cool. You will not go wrong by getting this processor so I say get it if you like fast! And Tiger got this to me quick with no issues and that is great it's self.
