best product
Comment:
Since I got this PCI work just fine easy to set-up and configured. The only thing is that you have to download the software but that is easy to find. I am very happy and thank you TD.

Great Item. Have a Win XP Install tip
Comment:
Cards software works great on Vista systems. Tip learned after messing with it for 1 hour. After downloading the drive software .exe from the Netgear site. After install if you can not get the system to connect to your router using Netgear software do the next step. 1.) Go to uninstall and uninstall the Netgear software which will also uninstall the driver. 2.) Reboot system 3.) Restart the Netgear software .exe file. 4.) After the driver is installed after you click install driver anyway CANCEL the rest of the install when the software install window pops up. 5.) Now that you have only installed the driver with out the software right click the network computer icon on the right side of the windows tool bar and connect to network and select your network and connect using Win XP system not the Netgear software. How this helps. The cards to work great!

Why the fuss? This is a great product!!!!!!!!!!
Comment:
I installed this on a new computer with Vista that has 4GB of RAM and I had absoultely no problems. People have been leaving bad feedbacks about this adapter and I feel it gives it a bad rep! For the money you cannot beat this product!

Wrong adapter
Comment:
TD sent me the wrong adapter. The one I recieved was a wg311 version 3 which is made for windows xp. The one advertised is for windows 98 which is the one I needed.

must have right software to run wireless adapter
Comment:
I was disappointed at the beginning with the installation of the software from NETGEAR website.... they did not have the correct drivers for the wireless adapter......was able to find the correct drivers somewhere else and I wasted many hours to find the correct drivers...

But the retail version
Comment:
I wasn't aware when I purchased a refurbished item that it didn't come with the drivers or ANY technical support. Save the trouble and spend the extra money by buying the retail version. I installed it and it didn't work so my only option was to return it -- no one would help me.

Never Worked
Comment:
I could not get this to work at all on my Vista 32 machine. I updated drivers, messed with the config, Vista can't see it. Just read a different review said it was incompatable with machines running more than 2GB RAM. Maybe that's it. I'm done wasting my time with it.

Pretty good value, some known issues.
Comment:
I was unaware when I purchased the device that it has a known issue when working with computers that have more than 2GB of memory. In some systems the software will have a hard time activating the device (the device will stop just as quickly as it starts). I did move it to another system with only 2GB of memory and it works very well. So, be wary of that issue and you will have a pretty good card at a great value.

Good price for a decent product
Comment:
I bought this adapter to use with my Netgear wireless G router and though it was easy to setup, I couldn't get a really strong signal in the room right next to the router. So although I was always connected my internet connection was pretty weak.

NOT for win server
Comment:
Acceptable for XP. If you try to install it on a Windows Server platform, you will need to restart in safe mode and run Windows XP Login Fix.

Affordable Networking Solution
Comment:
The Netgear WG311 is ideal for small business networking! These PCI Cards are easy to install and eliminate the need for miles of cable. The drivers install automatically with Windows Vista but not XP. Product did not come with a driver disk but I was able to download the XP driver from the Netgear website. I was unable to locate any drivers for Linux based OS's.

Simple solution, no frills, just what you need
Comment:
First off, the reviews on this item are mixed, but I can honestly say it's a straight forward solution to needing wireless network connection on your desktop. If you have problems using it, it'll be because your system has issues, you didn't follow simple directions, or are not hip with doing your own upgrades. You don't have to be a guru to install the card and set it up successfully the first time (about ten minutes if you follow directions).. you just have to be smart enough to move slow, pay attention, and follow directions. It does exactly what it's supposed to do at a price that is absolutely amazing compared to what you would pay for this sort of card a few years ago.. I recommend it!

Junk
Comment:
I'm usually not a product basher. But I bought this card for my dad's PC. Out of the box it was a pain in the butt to get working. Once I got it installed and configed it worked great for about 4 or 5 months then it would drop connection, forget which driver to use, insist on being another device other than a WG311PCI. Be warned, the netgear site for this item is terrible. Should you need to download drivers I wish you luck. There are better WiFi cards. Spend a couple of dollars and get a USB dongle. But seriously, I would pass on buying this if I had it to do all over. Its junk.

Piece of Trash
Comment:
In addition to not being recognized by Windows at first, by the time I put my computer back in it's room (a whopping 10 ft from the router) the piece of junk wasn't able to pick up the signal. Absolute waste of money. Don't waste your time, get a good card.

This is a sleeper!
Comment:
Had no previous experience with PCI wireless. Out of the box, this card delivers. Vista installed the drivers, I downloaded the extra software on Netgears' website and was online in less than 10 minutes.

Best output for the value!!
Comment:
When I read the reviews I was in a dilamatic state weather to get this product or not. But now i have no regrets.. It works great for the price I have put into it. I have Windows7 64bit OS running on my computer, and this wireless supports great. I see some people complaining about the driver problems with 64bit, go to netgear site and download latest drivers and you will do good. Excllent one for the price offered!!

Does what I need it to do.
Comment:
Provides a wireless solution for my desktop where I couldn't plug in at a great price. Don't like the Netgear connection manager because it's slow to connect, but it does what I need it to do.
