OCZ Vertex 2 OCZSSD2-2VTXE60G 2.5" MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
Cons:There are reports of failures after only a few months. The real world transfer speeds are MUCH LOWER than the figures posted - less than half.
Pros:Came with 3.5" adapter. Very low power active (2W) and idle(0.5W). Comment:
With rebate it was only $99 - hard to beat for a 60GB SSD. I'm replacing the HD in a laptop with this - hopefully eke out a little more run time from the batteries and make booting a bit faster. Fingers crossed that it doesn't have an early failure.Although it will probably fulfil its mission of reducing power usage I first tried it on a desktop and was really disappointed with the transfer rates. On Linux it benched about 130MB/s read/write and this is apparently normal for data that isn't highly compressible. According to OCZ the published benchmarks of 280+ MB/s are only for very compressible data. So beware - in real life you aren't likely to get anything like the kind of speeds advertised! This may be true of all SSD's so this isn't meant to just single out OCZ. This review was modfied by poster @ 01-12-11 10:43 PM |

OCZ Vertex 2 OCZSSD2-2VTXE60G 2.5" MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
Cons:Small, but as expected for 60gb.
Pros:Very fast & reliable as OS drive. Comment:
I bought this for a replacement OS drive.I've had no issues at all, other then running out of space and having to install some apps to other drives. After installed vista SP2 and doing all the updates, the total install size was 30gb which is 1/2 the drive.I've replaced this with a 120gb drive in order to have more room for apps installs. |

OCZ Vertex 2 OCZSSD2-2VTXE60G 2.5" MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
Cons:Limited storage, expensive.
Pros:Fast, easy to install, comes with adaptable tray. Comment:
Great drive, super fast, installed Windows 7 on a USB drive in less then 3 minutes. Great as a primary drive where you do all your gaming/work on it, and save all other files you don't use on a regular basis to a slower drive with bigger capacity. |

OCZ Vertex 2 OCZSSD2-2VTXE60G 2.5" MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
Cons:Laptop would not wake from sleep for 45 to 60 seconds and sometimes it required a reboot
Pros:Improved the speed of a budget laptop. As fast or faster than an i5 equipped system Comment:
I had previously installed an OCZ agility 30 Gb drive. It made my budget laptop as fast or faster that a unit with an intel i5 processor and lot's of Ram. It was great but a bit small. So I ordered a vertex 2 with 60 Gb. It worked just as well except that it takes 40 plus seconds to wake from sleep and sometimes requires a reboot. After searching OCZ forums I found out others experiences this wake from sleep problems. OCZ tech support simply said that there are problems with some systems and sleep and that maybe future update would resolve this issue. So I ordered a a 64 Gb Kingston ssdNOW 100 V series. It wakes up in 6 seconds including wireless connection and is practically as fast as the vertex 2. Hopefully a firmware update will help with this. |

OCZ Vertex 2 OCZSSD2-2VTXE60G 2.5" MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
Cons:price
Pros:small and fastwindows 7 boot is speedy Comment:
this 60 GB SSD is great. The price range is way too much. I bought this because of sale price 119 and free ship for entire order ( i bought some big heavy stuff). overall these things are bad as. cant wait to get another. oh ya 60 GB too small go for 120 GB if you can afford. I have windows 7 home premium and SC2 on my 60 with 10 GB to spare. |

OCZ Vertex 2 OCZSSD2-2VTXE60G 2.5" MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
Cons:Price:Capacity ratio? As long as you keep your games and other big apps on another drive, 60GB perfect. Firmware updater utility did not (still doesn't) detect the drive.
Pros:Extremely fast. In terms of benchmarks, this drive is consistently in the top 10% of all consumer hard drives. Got it on sale for $99 after MIR, couldn't be happier with the deal I got! Comment:
160MB/sec random reads, 227MB/sec buffered reads, 0.21ms access time. Windows 7 x64 cold boots in ~15 seconds. When buying an SSD, remember that the sequential reads/writes are only part of the equation. Random access time is possibly just as (if not more) important, in terms of real-world performance. |

OCZ Vertex 2 OCZSSD2-2VTXE60G 2.5" MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
Cons:only 60GB
Pros:boots into windows in under a minute Comment:
I already own 3 ssds, this one seems to be one of the quickest. The only drawback of this, and many ssds, is still the price/GB. That being said, this is still the best upgrade one can add to their computer. |

Cons:hard to get write speed up to the spec as it is somewhat fake advertising...
Pros:good 4k read/write, fast transfer, reliable Comment:
Sandforce driver is currently the choice of driver. I owned one already but bought the second one for my frd because I know they are good! firmware is a bit tricky but reasonable to do. |

OCZ Vertex 2 OCZSSD2-2VTXE60G 2.5" MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
Cons:3.5" mounting plate may not be compatible with some cases.
Pros:Great drive with great speed. Comment:
As mentioned, this drive has anamazing speed. It comes with a 2.5" to 3.5" mounting plate for desktops, but I found it being not the greatest accessory. It might just be the fact that I am using a Lian-Li tool-less case. The mount is too short, and the screw holes are pretty small for the thumbscrews that I had for my case. Overall, it's a great drive. Must have. |

Cons:Can be a bit cheaper
Pros:FastGreat Price, quick rebateSilent, heeeSuper Fast load times for MS Windows, Office, AutoCAD, Photoshop, etc Comment:
This is my third SSD. Got a Patriot over two years ago, than the Agility last year and the Vertex 2 a few months ago. Each time cheaper per gig, and faster. I like it a lot. Well worth the price for a desktop. Not sure how much faster they would be for a laptop. I have a netbook, but I dont think the atom chip would care |

OCZ Vertex 2 OCZSSD2-2VTXE60G 2.5" MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
Cons:Expensive compared to mechanical hard drives.
Pros:Fast, silent, small, low energy consumption. Comment:
I researched SSD drives before purchasing. Drives based on the Sandforce chip are currently the best available. The OCZ Vertex 2 line is among the best and cheapest of those. This was purchased to improve startup and operation speed on a workstation. It fully met my expectations. 60GB is a perfect size for a Win7 boot/system disk install. Due to its small size and low energy consumption, it fit perfectly into an unused floppy drive slot, leaving an extra 3.5" drive slot free. This is a highly recommended upgrade. |

OCZ Vertex 2 OCZSSD2-2VTXE60G 2.5" MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
Cons:
Small capacity
Pros: Cheap and Fast Comment:
I put one in my laptop for school that I use for AUTOCAD and MS Office mostly . Load times increased significantly and battery last longer. Thinking of getting two more for my desktop since 60GB is small and a couple of these in RAID 0 would be extremely fast. |
This is a very fast SSD! The only con about is the fact that it's $120 including shipping, taxes, and rebate. I used it as a boot drive for a few days, then got extreme buyers remorse (I ge serious anxiety attacks about money) and sold it on ebay.Good drive if you have the money!
