For the low cost of this drive, you may possibly as nicely obtain 2 and run raid. Or put one into an external enclosure and use it as back up device. In no way had 1 fail (of any Seagate). Have to get with bundle only. Presently 6 cents per GB... you can't complain with that type of deal.

Performs for a time. Offered my expertise with this line, such as one drive which failed since I got this one, I would stay away from this entire line from Seagate unless you enjoy the RMA procedure and are prepared to RAID your drives.

I haven't had one fail. They run fine, quietly, and with affordable heat dissipation. They're just not quick. They're not ultra-slow, but of the common tricky drives I work with daily, these are amongst the slower. Fine 1TB challenging drive. Just don't use it for overall performance-intensive tasks.

Who would have believed that 1TB could cost only ๖? Though not extremely loud, this is the loudest I've ever heard from a brand new drive. By no means had a challenge with a Seagate.

Operates as expected. On the plus side it is quieter than expected. Have this in a Antec 300, it's quieter than the stock Antec fans. Spin up/down is only audible if I'm listening for it. None so far... Got this on sale at a different retailer for ๋.99 as an OEM drive. No SATA cable integrated (I had a spare from my ASUS mobo so no dilemma there) but too be expected from an OEM drive.

Bought it back in September from a different retailer for ๋. Unit functions as intended, haven't had a single challenge with it sense I purchased it. It's quiet, in my case it runs at 25'c and has been a star performer NONE Wish it was 64mb cache and a 1.5TB Drive but all in all an amazing drive. As a trusty buyer of Seagate I will of course continue to acquire their Tough Drives and ONLY Their tough drives for typical drive demands. Retain it up Seagate! To these who's drives have failed how was it packaged? Mine came in, in about 4 layers of bubble wrap.

It works properly when it decides to perform Used as a backup drive... Drive randomly lost it's partition facts... so computer system believed it was a brand new drive. Fortunately I was able to use GetDataBack for NTFS and recover most of the files that were still on the drive. The drive failed during a substantial 700GB transfer from the drive to a RAID array. Upon restart all Partition, MBR, Volume information was lost... but at least data was nonetheless there.I wanted a low-cost 1TB drive for backup in external encolsure. Use WD Caviar Black for all other HDD requirements and will continue to only obtain good high quality in future!

Fast. Dependable. Fantastic overall drive for apps and saving files alike. Not as awesome as a Samsung F4 but nonetheless good in the case. Comprehensive formatting takes 35-45+ minutes about. Well, you gotta sharpen a pencil before you can use it so it's not a con at all, just sayin' seriously. Purchased in May possibly of 2009.

With my 6 core, windows 7 loads in about 20 seconds from when I press the energy button to when I log in. Games load at a decent speed. ྯ seconds for tf2 and crysis two).Exceptional for storing lots and lots of random stuff. I have over 40000 wallpapers and it flips by means of them with no challenge. None so far. This seems like a resonable alternative for pairing with a ssd. You can get a decent 160 GiG SSD for 赨. Use the SSD for gaming and modeling, use this child for storing a bunch of stuff with swift access :D.

This was an exceptional factor to throw in with the combo that I purchased. None however. This is one particular of four HDs that I have at the moment operating totaling two.5TB of space. I don't do partitions, as I've discovered them to end up being additional difficulty than they're worth. I just sort points by folders and have enough space to do redundant backups on other drives.

A good deal for the value so lengthy as you get a good drive. Had a couple Seagate drive go bad on me back in the 1990's, but that was a long time ago. This 1 lasted 3 months. It could've been the employed gaming motherboard I purchased that needed a BIOS upgrade for the energy settings to operate correct with Windows 7 64-bit (system and device power-downs did not work proper until I did this). Or it could've been the reality that I dropped the drive on the table when I picked the bubble wrap up from the wrong end upon opening it. The point is, drives really should be somewhat shock resistant given how usually they are installed in process upgrades these days. I've knocked my external Fantom Greendrive (also purchased at Newegg) off the table twice now when I caught the wire on my foot (once whilst it was powered on and transferring files), and it nonetheless runs quiet and wonderful.

At this point - None. I can't hold carrying out this! See post from twoቱ. 1 of the two replacements tripped Smart currently. Worked a single week. Non-repairable undesirable sector. Operating a straightforward RAID1 on ATI SB700 controller. I've made the choice to leave Seagate. Tech Supp claimed no concerns with these drives. Three of 4 failures? I can't sell a enterprise machine with these issues in it, much much less a residence user. Sorry guys. Time to go.

Great cost. Decent speed. It's a tough drive...kinda hard to mess that up. I took one egg off since two days right after I installed it into my brand new rig some of the games and stuff I had downloaded started out acting weird. I soon identified out that they had been installed into negative sectors. Soon after a small cleaning and repairing the bad sectors went away. The next day it occurred once again. I did yet another repair and I have not had an situation since. I don't know if the HD was/is defective or if my mass downloading and installing to set up my rig just more than worked the poor thing.
