two of them nonetheless operating in a RAID nearly a year later Nothing at all I run two of these in a RAID configuration, and now practically a year later they appear to have the same performance and be just as dependable. I would buy once again - except I would go larger next time!

Cheap, generally thrown in with combo offers. Died soon after 3 months, in no way had good experiences with these drives. Not worth it to pay shipping to get replaced with an additional cheapo driver, just gonna toss. Appear at F3 or a WD black.

Ư star for becoming a 1tb hdd, as promised. I utilised this as a storage drive for about a year. It was very slow to open folders on the drive and produced a lot of noise. I never ever felt like my stuff was secure. Seagate is the new Maxtor. I purchased this and a Seagate 1tb external around the similar time. Both are slow and noisy. I've given that replaced them with WD's and Samsungs which have been substantially superior.Never once more, Seagate.

Functions. Was not 1TB it is about 150 GB the a single I got. Too late to RMA. I was getting some pc difficulties with my motherboard, and some idiot shop kept it with them for much more than a month and could not repair it so I did not know this Challenging Drive was not a TB. Also is not the value for 150 GB.

None... Wouldn't take windows 7 install. Bios showed challenging drive, but when installing windows came up on tricky drive identified. After attempting sata driver to see if that was the issue, the hdd was recognized. Only half way by way of install windows began reporting error on drive and lastly would shutdown my personal computer by default. This is the worst tough drive ive ever purchased! If your gonna get this tricky drive, make sure you flush twice!!

Worked properly. Soon after approx 2 weeks bios wouldn't see the drive. I checked connections. The drive made a "beeping" noise like it was unable to spin. Tried it in one more personal computer very same dilemma - bios won't recognize drive won't spin. The drive was not dropped just stopped working.

Functions (for 3 weeks now).Inexpensive 1 TB. As expected, the worst component WEI-wise in my method at five.9.Negative reviews scared me, will rewrite a review at 3 months ownership. Ill be getting a 6.0Gb/sec if this thing fails, and probably not seagate.

Quiet and quick and really major. My initial 1st TB drive was the 7200.11 (still operating properly along side this), and I think I paid about 赨 for it. Saw this on sale a bit over a year ago for 贎 and jumped on it because the 1st drive was filling up. It is a little faster, but other than that they are comparable in temps (mid 30's c) and noise level (which is incredibly quiet). This is now my editing drive, and the old 1 sits asleep most of the time as my 'warm storage' for completed projects. it is no SSD, but think about a 1TB SSD value! Also, appears much a lot more dependable than 2TB drives, but constantly recall to backup your information! This means a separate storage device that is not on the identical energy grid! 1TB of projects would be quite painful to loose! Obtain a spare 1 of these for external use, and only plug it in when you need to do a backup. these are presently on sale for ็ (after instant rebate), and I am debating about buying two a lot more to brief stroke and raid for a program drive. These are 2 platter drives, so a 20% short stroke in raid should get me a 400GB program drive that has a throughput of close to 200MB/s which is a big step up from my old Seagate 7200.9 80GB drive, which is operating robust but is rather slow by today's standards. It would be no SSD, but still quick, with lots of space.Seagate tends to make excellent drives. I have a 5yr old process drive, a 7 year old 500GB in wife's personal computer, plus these two TB drives and have been a pleased camper.I do audio editing for my church and these drives consume by way of my 1GB audio files like nothing when I am cleaning/compressing/exporting. I also do the occasional video edit in HD for motion backgrounds at church and am in a position to do so with minimal compression (Lagarith) in actual time devoid of any form of raid, and export to h.264 is extremely rapid!

I had to google search how to have my personal computer show the drive in windows explorer. As soon as I figured that out, no difficulties because. I use it as a back-up drive of my primary a single. No directions included on how to get it recognized.

none failing 3 months soon after purchase I purchased this drive in December 2010 and it is already starting to fail. I had bad experiences with Western Digital drives dated all the way back to 2000 so my logical alternative was Seagate.Just before I made the obtain, I in fact did some analysis and a lot of people warned me about Seagate drives and their high failure rate. All of them advised Western Digital but simply because of my bad knowledge with WD, I decided to go with Seagate anyway, and I was dead Incorrect.Right now, three months following acquire, I am getting difficulty with the drive. The drive will freeze and a clicking sound coming from the drive every single now and then, occasionally for 20-30 seconds and sometimes for 2-3 minutes, and it happens a lot. It is just a matter of time just before the drive fails totally but I can't RMA the drive simply because you will need to pass a Seagate software package test and my drive couldn't simply because it freezes and generating the clicking sound continuously when I run the test. Summary: DO NOT Buy THIS JUNK.

Works. Significant size. 鿣 MBs formatted exFAT) Great sturdy connectorsnice screw clearance on the sides - this is occasionally an issue with some drives, causing the screws to dig into the PCB, and sometimes the circuits causing shorts. A bit of the chattery side but not too loudCC34 firmware level appears to have been *bad* causing the require for a firmware update to CC3E. Nothing a rapid google search couldn't resolve. In contrast to some of you, I actually function in the Pc repair/build and IT market. For those of you who have killed PSUs, or HDDs or even motherboards... the right way to connect a drive: Pay the โ to the guy who knows what he's carrying out so you don't finish up devoid of a laptop or computer.

straightforward, no fuss set up. functions as intended. optional ư year warranty for a fraction additional. low-cost, high excellent. none I have serious negative luck when it comes to HDDs. I've tried each and every brand from ??? to WD and most tend to bite the dust nicely prior to they must. I would advocate acquiring the extra protection on this investment as even the added 15$ tends to make this HDD nevertheless a lot more affordable then most competitors.
