bought one of these about a year ago... lasted about 3 months before it crashed. went through seagate warranty and got another one. that one lasted me 6 months before it crashed... going on my 3rd but this one will not be used for permanent storage as it can not be trusted...

It's running good, getting great read speed from my mirrored set. I drop  my computer tower during moving and the case was broken, but these drives still runs without any error. I've had drives from all other brands and they all fail a few weeks after warranty period, but my 7200.10 drives still runs well after years for 24/7 usage.

my friend has a older motherboard that only supports sata 1 so at first the drive didn't show up in the bios .. I placed a jumper on the 2 pins closest to the outside of the case and the drive was now showing up ... installed windows xp .. it fast 90+mb/sec almost as fast as my 500gb 7200.12 in sata 2 mode... I have no doubt that if this was running on a newer pc it would be very close to the same as the 500gb

Needed some extra space. I like seagate, and saw no reason to try Hitachi, for instance. Good price and does axactly what it says on the box.

It is fast, has lots of memory and is a good buy on sale. Would recommend if you plan on making a lot of downloads. Enough said.

A great sata drive that runs perfectly. Had no problems running 24/7 and transferring huge amounts of data. Surprisingly quiet too.

I've ordered 2 from NCIX over 6 months ago and have been running these drives 24/7. Never had a problem. No "clicking" sound problems that I hear about.

It's your good-quality, run-of-the-mill SATA hard drive. I have this setup on a RAID 10 array and it runs like a dream. Seagate drivers, the Barricuda ones especially, are the best on the market.

Bought this as a main drive for my new i7 rig. Fast and plenty of space. Bought it at $90 with free ground shipping for entire order, so it was an excellent deal.

I bought for a storage hard drive and it does the job prety well the spin up time is faster then the WD drives so i do not complain. ( The drive is external and power down when i do not use it.

I have this drive in a raid 0 array with a 7200.11 1TB model. Up to now it's pretty fast for the price I paid but once in a while it slows down for a few minutes before getting back to it's normal speed. I don't know if that is caused by the .11 drive or this one but I have read a lot of times that Seagate quality isn't really great lately but they are making some progress.

I have been with Seagate for 5 generations of computers and so far none of the Hard drives, i have purchased from them have failed. When I upgrade a hard drive in my computer, i bump the older hard drive to an external unit and use it for storage. I have 5 year old Seagate products that still work perfectly. Recommended product and maker.

I have bought this drive for my friend. when I install Win XP on it. I noticed the drive is noisier that WD. aside from that, this is a fast drive that would make buyers happy(like my friend for example...).

Well it sounds like its constantly seeking every few seconds, even when idle. This is on a fresh new OS install with no programs on it either.Its not a worrying level of noise, but definitely noticeable. I would hope that when it's idle, I wouldn't be able to hear it. It really is the loudest part in my computer.Apparently there is a firmware update  to quieten the noise, but that also decreases speed a lot.. down to 5400rpm levels. Why would I purchase a 7200 that needs a "fix" to work in 5400? Terrible drive.

This is THE top performing 1TB HDD currently. It will give you better transfer rates than competing 1TB hard drives. With the trusted seagate brand and a 3 year warranty you can't go wrong. I picked this drive because it was on the top of Tom's HDD charts for 1TB drivesI highly recommend this drive to anybody who is willing to spend a few extra dollars for big gains in performance.

I have been buying seagate hard drives for years and years and have never had one problem with them which is why I have always preferred buying them over other brands.

Bought this and a WD black edition 1tb drive. Was slightly less in every everest test, but tied one test with the WD drive.Noticeably quieter than the WD BLACK drive; not sure how it compares to the green edition drives.would probably buy a WD drive again, considering the price difference, the WD drive is better performance.

Great drive for storing large media. BUT for an OS drive I'd select  the WD Black series. Seems like the only choice for those of us that want the 500 GB platter advantages w/o going to a slower green model.

I brought 6 of those drives and I'm very satisfied with them. They worked in a minute with no issue in my raid-5 setup and they are pretty fast. Till now no issue raised !

So far so good. I bought two to copy my previous 500GB Windows VISTA Ultimate to one of them, in a RAID 1 setup. I used Acronis Disk Director for the copy to one of the 1TB. Then I installed the driver to it and after installing the controller and the two 1 TB drives, I added the two drives and built the array. I just had to repair the installed windows from the original CD and all is OK now.It took about 12-16 hours of computer time to get the job done. After installing the ASM under Windows, it started an Array verify job that seems to take another lot of hours to finish. I'm supposed to get a boost in performance once stabilized. The drives gave no problem.

Brought this Drive to store my media so I can stream from my PC to my PS3. Drives works perfectly. Every drive I have now is a Seagate, finally swapped out my old 80GB Maxtor. Seagate has never let me down, all seagates are still running smoothly, noise free. Recommend this drive to all.

Apparently this drive has issues and i had to get replacementabout 4 month's ago,the other one lasted around 3 month's.I went to web site looked it up and its on the firmware update  list if not done you could have a dud in 3 to 4 month's.There old firmware has huge issues i read all kinds of bad stuff going on.

Just purchased this hard drive when it was on sale. Installed it in a system that i rebuilt. Running great, worth the money even at regular price

I was really scared reading some reviews. I built a windows home server and used 3 of these hard drives to start my storage. I wanted to stay away from the 7200.11 drives (hence the 1 TB instead of 1.5TB drives). Drives run surprisingly cool! I have built a lot of computers and used a lot of drives. Seagate has an awesome return department and is sure to get you a new drive ASAP if something goes wrong. No issues. Very Happy!

I bought this on sale a few weeks ago on sale. It was pretty good value compared to other 1TB drives with 32mb cache. Works well and I didn't run into any problems. I may buy another one of these or a WD Black, depending on which one is cheaper soon.
