When it was on promo m$80, it was really a good deal because this is a fast drive (7200rpm), it may not be the fastest, but it's fast enough for everyday use. Get it.

This drive stays in my safe as a data backup so it does not get regular use. Works fine and have had little trouble with all my seagate drives.

I bought this one for ~$85. So far it has been great, cool (~20C without HD fan) and very quiet, much better than expected. It claimed 7200rpm, never tested it though. I was thinking WD, but its green drive is only 5400 rpm for the same price, and its black drive is noisy as users reported and much more expensive. For $85 this is a much better deal (if the HD does not fail!)

I was originally hesitant to purchase this drive because of several of the other reviews. Based on the fact that we purchased nothing but Seagate drives at my former place of employment and personal experience with prior systems that I built, I purchased 2 of these drives and they are absolutely great in all aspects.

Great all around drive, easy install and system recognized it without a problem. It's nice to have a 1TB of space, great drive for the OS or storage and always nice when you buy it on sale.

For less than $80 when on sale, the 1TB Seagate HD is very good value for the amount of space. While it may not be the fastest drive on the market, it is fast enough for everyday use.Overall, it runs fairly cool (low power as well?). I had a 500G 7200.12 which so far worked fine, so i've decided to buy the 1TB version. Turns out this drive is crap. It was louder than my 10 yr old drive. When it does a seek, it sounded like the airplane taking off, and my computer shook. I have a very noisy system, with a S-L-I card setup making a lot of noise, this drive overpowered it all. The 500G version is quiet i cant hear it. This monster was damn loud. I also did a benchmark - 117MB sustained rate. So, all the noise with nothing in return. Maybe it was faulty who knows, i didn't take a chance exchanged it for W-D 1TB green drive

I bought one about 9 months ago. It crashed after 3 months. Called Seagate warranty and got a re-cerified one but you have to pay to ship the bad one back. The re-cerified one lasted about another 4 months before it crashed again. Called Seagate again and got another re-cerified one, my 3rd one. Hope this one will last. Just paying the shipping cost to return the drive is adding up. I would not use it for permanent storage as it cannot be trusted. My other 4 hard drives (2 Hitachi, 2 WD) are stilling going strong after 1 to 3 years. Stay away from Seagate.

I bought this for storage only, I would never use 1TB for an OS drive, especially with these speeds. Not that the speeds are all that horrible, just that a 320, 500 or 640 would/could be much faster and you do not need 1TB for an OS; at least not yet.Works great in drobo. No complaints. Doubtful I would ever pay full price for it though.

I purchased one of these drives for my acer windows home server and have had no issues so far. Appears to be relatively quiet and integrated without any trouble.

Using it on my Shaw HD PVR. Works like a charm in the vantec External Case. The PVR recognized it right away.

I bought a couple and they have been fine so far. The other reviews concern me but my personal experience, albiet only 6 weeks or so, is that they are working perfectly.

Bought 4 of these drives, two were defective and had to be RMAd. Also the RMA drives that Seagate sent me were also defective. Could have been a run of bad luck, but won't take any chances in the future. I will definitely order a different brand.

Great average SATA drive. It's fast and quiet with a decent warranty. I found the drive runs a little hot but with the 120mm fans in my case I have no heat issues.

I have probably bought 1tb 7200rpm HDD's from all the top brands and I have yet to see a real world difference. I'm sure that if you benchmark all of them there would be one that stands out. Otherwise I just buy the one on sale.

Low power consumption and energy efficient, fast read time. Slow seek time and the warranty could be longer. But at $80 on sale, it was a great deal.

Had this drive for about a month, easy install, a couple hours to setup, but it runs cool (29 deg. C in my case)flawless and super-fast so far... we'll see if it stands the test of time.
