Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500GB 3.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive

There's not much to say -- it's big, it's fast and it's cheap. It's also quiet. Anyone looking for a cheap, easy way to increase storage, look no further. It's also pretty light, and would probably work well in a drive enclosure.

had the previous 500gb 7200.11 which has some issues but looks like this version resolves them. Currently have 2 setup in a RAID0 setup and is working great. They're quite and produce less heat due to single platter drive.

Got two of these to put in the DNS-323 for a Raid 1 set up. Works great. drives are fast and quiet.

Picked up for a friends htpc build, good value - no problems so far. great bang for you buck when it is on sale. Runs cool and quite, would buy again

Purchased one of these in November 2007 from here. SMART warning came on about 6 months ago, so I pulled it out and replaced it with a pair of 1TB seagate drives. On Aug 05, 2009, I finally decided to try to return it to Seagate- discovered the warranty is in effect until Nov 2012. Processed an RMA through their website, and sent it off via courier on Monday, Aug 10. The replacement hard drive has just arrived now from Seagate- Aug 13. I will never buy a HDD from anyone else, ever again. Seagate is the master. All companies sell the occassional lemon. The good ones will stand by their products. Thank you Seagate.

picked up for a customers rig who doesn't need more than 250GB. 500 is a better value though. This drive is fast, quiet, low power, and i trust the seagate name (except for the 7200.11 drives for obvious reasons).

i bought this drive for my new pc and i tried loadind windows xp on it and it crashed i tried seagate once and it will be the last time i will use any of their products.

I have yet to install Windows 7 on this but I know it's going to work flawlessly. :>Get this hdd! It's cost effective and its very silent!

Died just after my 30 day return period. worked great when it worked, but one day I turned on my computer and it couldn't even find the hard disk.

This is a normal SATA2 hard drive that is working properly just like any other SATA2 Seagate hard drive. I have had mine for 1 year and it keeps working perfectly. I would recommend anyone to buy many of these.

I brought 2 of those drives and I'm Very satisfied till now. They work well in Raid setup and they are very silent and fast.

Well I've got 2 of these baby in my system in raid0. They are pretty fast. For the price (~55$) they are unbeatable in terms of price vs performance. They don't run too hot and they are quiet too. Seems to be quite solid and reliable. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another.

I really like this drive for it's size...it's noticeably smaller in design and the temps are perfect! It's quiet and offers decent Ram Cache. The person I built a PC for is very pleased because of the quietness of this drive.

I bought this for my average computer used alot of them and did not get a single blimp up to now. The long temr durability is still to be tested but up to not 2 tumb up

The thing I appreciate the most of this drive is it doesn't create  much noise. It much more silent than my WD caviar SE16 and this is faster too. It really slim because of the single platter. It doesn't offer the best performance but I value noise as much as the performance.

Worked out of the package as expected. 500gb of hard drive at a great price. Low noise level. Partitioned it of into three drives, formatted, and installed windows with no hiccups or faults. An amazing value. As far as I can tell, Seagate has fixed all problems that have plagued the .11 series.

Added 2nd drv, to unused sata system. Recognized quickly and ran fine. Partitioned up and used as temp storage on my network, and thru usb cable connects. In all cases ran cool and quiet without a hitch

Bought 2 of these for Raid 0 array. Repalced older WD Raptor. These drives are top rated on www.videocardbenchmark.net (Hard Drive Chart). For the price, you can't beat this drive. In my opinion it even blows away the WD 10k rpm drives (I was a die hard Raptor fan). Seagate even has the free DiscWizard software on its website to install and clone your old drive (no long OS reinstalls). Awsome. Seagate gets three (not just 2) thumbs up! :)

I had a little trouble with my 7200.11 500Gb. But this one takes the cake. Apparently, the 16mb cache buffer on the 12 gen series is equivalent in speed to a 32mb 11 gen? That's what the tech told me (after I bought it, mind you. So it probably wasn't a sales gimmick.)
