Comment:
None - not capable to uncover out but I got it half ago. I followed instruction to turn the switch OFF, connect edeverything together, turn the switch ON. I saw the fume followed by smoke and smell out of my IDE drive. Needless to say, the drive was dead. This is worst encounter I had. It went beyond not working, it killed my drive. Now I have to deal with how to return - not even bother to ask for replacement. I wish I could give it a -1 egg ratingStay way from it !!!!!

I've been making use of this item for really a although and have to re-stock them on a typical basis.Several of my buyers buy them on the spot when they see how easy and effective they are for pulling "irreplaceable" data from dead Hard Drives. None Superior obtain two and give/sell one to a geek buddy.

Does what it demands to do, comes with all issues essential Eggs off for the cheesy molex energy adapter I got. I don't know if it has been changed because, but when I got it, it was a regular AC adapter, the end was attached to a molex connector, and the finish was absolutely nothing much more than heatshrinked to cover the wires and connection. 1 egg off. I would expect a completely molded plastic cover. I broke eventually from less than abusive use (another egg off), and bought a new adapter for it, and it is fine now. The adapter, the USB-SATA-IDE component has however to fail me and there are no problems with it, just with the AC adapter.

Compared to an additional adapter I purchased from that "online auction" web page, this adapter appears to be much better top quality. Worked with each and every single tricky drive I've thrown at it.It just operates and that is all you can actually ask for if you operate with a ton of consumer difficult drives like I do (about 50 per week). None actually, although I wish it came with a longer sata cable. But I already have tons of them, so not seriously a con for me. Contemplating the amount of hours I've utilizing this adapter per week, I hope it can final awhile. My adapter from that "online auction" web page only lasted about a month. Then once more, that was some cheap item, this Vantec adapter is of a much better quality for certain.

I was able to use it couple of instances. I got it in August񳏈 and I utilized it few times in 2008񳏉 with no complaints (didn’t use it more than 6 occasions), right after that, it stopped operating, you could hear the hard drive spinning but wouldn't read it. Periodically I attempt it to see if time or rest has fix it to no avail. The frustrating part is that I could use one of these adapters but reading the critiques of other individuals brands in NewEgg, it appears that no matter what brand they are, they had related experiences as mine.

Cost. Does what it's supposed to. Has connections for all devices, small and effortless to transport. Fantastic alternative to acquiring an external enclosure. Having a bunch of wires is inconvenient if you're in a public place. Transfer rates fluctuate in between 20-24MB/s, then bottom out at ㅅMB/s right after a few minutes. Rather annoying. I have a modest form element computer with no room inside for much more than a single drive, and was pleased to locate something this inexpensive on Newegg. The device hasn't failed yet.

I was told about this adapter by a friend..well I have employed this point a lot and have been able to recover GB's of data from dead Pc's with out having to slave old IDE drives into a different Pc or uncover a data cable open the pc and install the sata drive...and so on. I also use it to run virus scans on most important OS drives that will not let the computer system to boot simply because they are infected. It doesnt make me coffee even though recovering someones information This is a should have for a tech..it with conserve you time in retrieving data from old harddrives. As usually New Egg rocks since I got mine with a a single year extended warrenty for less expensive than my buddy did without the warrenty at some other lame web site.

It functions specifically as it need to - hook it up, turn it on, open My Laptop or computer, and there is your newly mounted device External power supply, but that's not worth an egg deduction due to the fact it makes sense (do you truly want to power an internal drive by way of a USB port?) and isn't an inconvenience for me. Purchased this due to the fact I'm often asked to recover data (most recently, wedding pictures) from "dead" hard drives for pals, family members, and acquaintances who are less technologically inclined. This adapter tends to make it ten instances simpler to do that since I no longer have to arrange the jumpers on IDE drives and mount them inside a desktop as slaves - I can use my laptop.

This has saved my life and the data of myself and other people numerous occasions. None BAM my laptop died, power failure. I had two years worth of information on it, files that meant additional then the laptop itself. On the assistance of a friend I found this and paid for it to be overnighted. Some hours later a tough drive worth of data had been transferred. Due to the fact then anytime I go to fix a computer this Always goes with me.

I bought this to salvage data off my earlier laptop that had died and have employed it for a lot of others to salvage information or get rid of viruses. I Highly suggest this. I truly can't believe of any. Its a cable that serves quite a few functions. I have had troubles prior to with Windows 7 recognizing the USB bridge but not the difficult drive and thus unable to access the hard drive I plug into it. I could be doing a thing wrong, I'm unsure.I have NO troubles at all when I plug this into my Ubuntu desktop.

Vantec USB 2.0 to SATA (Serial ATA)/IDE Adapter
Comment:
The Interface is awsome did three.5" Ide, 2.five" sata and a sata cd-rom all appear and function on a handful of systems newer and antiquated ones. the power supply as mentioned from prior reviews is questionable to say the least. Be weary. Following destroying a brand new drive that I bought in the identical order, I decided to test the power supply immediately after eliminating every thing else, particularly given that I effectively burned a disc or two employing the interface and identical drive with a different power source of course to test the drive. then to try the supply that came with the interface only to discover that the drive will no longer read anything even the disk I had currently burned with the other supply, and I found the 12v line spiking on power on all the way to 14.7v which is nicely outside of the 5% market normal tolerance 11.4v to 12.6v for the 12v rail. bottom line the interface is excellent the power supply at least the 1 I received was to say the least not appropriately functioning. Even though I would get yet another just for the interface, even with the fore understanding of the possibility of the faulty power provide, this time I would be certain to test it initially prior to i fry one particular of my favorite drives

None By no means worked. RMA internet site for Vantec goes into infinite loop unless you enter item information Just before you attempt to upload an image of your invoice. I had to kill my firefox fully. And there is no serial number on the device (required for RMA) but I don't have the box or paperwork that came with it. Fun fun fun.
