This product was suggested by a co-worker of mine. He let me try it out and I liked it so much I got my own.I use it to get information off of all my old Difficult Drives and support others when they fry their motherboards and need to get their information off their drives. It's inexpensive and does precisely what it says. Excellent product. None. Now that I built a computer system I wish this connected via SATA or USB 3. rather of just USB two. but I can't deduct an egg for that.

Solid ConstructionLooks high-priced!Easy to hook up, with no installation requiredQuickly data transfer rate None so far I got this product tonight soon after my roommate's computer crashed with 22 gigs of music on the challenging drive. He believed the difficult drive may be dead, but I plugged it up with this baby and was able to recover every little thing in about 15 minutes at lightning quickly transfer rates. Too good to be true! Now we have music for our New Year's Eve party. If it continues to carry out, I can't suggest it sufficient.

Super simple to use, no drivers, as plug and play as they get. So much less difficult than powering down and opening the case, installing drive, closing back up, accessing information, powering down, opening case, removing drive, closing things back up.. what a hassle... all avoided with this cheap tool. So smaller I lost the initial 1, but low-cost enough I just got another. Not a tool I will need each and every day, in reality rarely, but when I do, it sure is handy.

This device is good!! I work in tech support for a significant agency & there are occasions I require to pull information off a challenging drive from a failed pc or laptop. I have utilized it on IDE, two.5 IDE & SATA drives & it functions great on all of them. A lot simpler than opening my case & installing the drive on my pc. We tried a couple of the additional expensive dock variety devices & all failed & some didn't do two.five inch ide drives. They are pretty but not durable. We have over 2000 pc's & laptops so the device gets utilized generally. It can't remedy stupid.

Wonderful Item!! Has worked with each Hardrive I throw at it, laptop two.five IDE, SATA and three.five IDE no troubles with Windows 7 64 none genuinely except would of been nice if they'd created it so you could use a regular ribbon conector so as not to have to plug device directly into HD for IDE devices I bought this to use as described to function with Hardrives for fix and repair reasons, but also functions excellent with my XBOX 360 and my collection of outdated smaller challenging drives to use as added storage, I am useing it now with some older 20 gig 3.five hardrives and have installed games and all with no troubles on my XBOX 360!!!

Very reliable! Worked 99% of the time on more than 100 three.5" IDE drives, perhaps another 50 or laptop IDE drives and around 30-40 SATA drives. The only times it didn't function was simply because the drive itself was malfunctioning... which is exactly why I had it out of the program to start with. A case to carry it would be excellent. It's a savior.... just get it.

Comes with every little thing needed to hook up a SATA/eSATA and IDE drives. Plug in the drive, turn the power on, and it works. It even reads drives that windows ignores (my sata drive kept giving CRC errors and 7 didn't want to deal with it). The energy adapter is as big as a laptop energy adapter and it just outputs 5vʂA though USB outputs 5vʁA. The SATA cable connecting to the adapter could be superior suited if was a 90*.I haven't tried the IDE portion however, all my drives are SATA :-).

Excellent compact style. No drivers needed for the OS's I tested it on, WinXP sp2, Win23k, Vista, Win7, Linux (Ubuntu) and Ubuntu server. Worked flawlessly. Smaller adequate to carry around and even to use inside a low profile case. Transfer speeds wonderful. No energy cable for the two.five external IDE drives. You can hook it up internally if you have a power cable going to your drive, even so none of the laptops I tried it on did. So the two.5 drive adapter is useless externally and mostly useless internally. If you are going to be employing this with 2.5 note book IDE drives get some other one. They don't even give you the choice to acquire the energy adapter, nevertheless it is mentioned in the manual as getting obtainable, possibly on Vantecs site. Very good adapter, I would actually had liked it much more had they included the two.5 IDE energy adapter, even if it meant a bit much more on the price.

It works. Connected with out concern, and have used it on a about 5 PATA drives so far. It maintains a 25-33MB/s transfer rate, which isn't bad. Directory access on my rather speedy 񢒨k Sandy Bridge, 16GB DD3-1600) system is fast. It is an adapter not a docking station, so the disk is bare on the desk. Now that the new Sandy Bridge technique has over 5TB of storage, I required to recover documents, photos, and videos a draw full of old 񢉕 an earlier) disk drives. This is performing the job. This did the job rather inexpensively. The adapter is most likely also capable of accessing older floppy disk drives.

On/Off Switch on the power adapter. This adapter worked one time on a laptop hard drive. Given that then, no drive is even recognized in Windows as being plugged in. I have tried damaged tough drives, fresh out of the box drives sent from Dell, the SATA drive inside of my external enclosure and so on. I have also tried each and every sort of drive supported by this item. I bought this item for work. I do a lot of data recovery and hard drive backups when our employees need to have their computers replaced or repaired. The first time I utilized this produced me extremely optimistic that I had produced the right choice. After I moved onto the subsequent drive to backup, I realized that I was wrong. I am now shopping for a replacement and have had several suggestions from coworkers to acquire a ű option with the precise identical capabilities. I passed that 1 up thinking that I would get what I paid for. Return shipping for the RMA is 50% of the price of the item so I am resigning to getting a ศ paperweight. My suggestion, look elsewhere.

Works really nicely. Transfer speeds a alot higher than what other people here had been reporting. Windows 7 finds it without a hitch. Go into your Disk Management tool if you don't see it (initialize the disk). None Do not use the CD that comes with it. Paired it with freeware, Macrium / Reflectfree, I was able to clone a 160gb difficult drive image in 41 min and write it back to the new 500gb drive in 46 min. Might vary on the speed of the drive of course.

Comment:
Great price. Troublesome connectors. I was able to get this adapter to work for SATA, which was my key goal, but had trouble with the connectors. When I tried to plug the cables into my SATA drives, I discovered the molded plugs are too massive and bumped into each other. You can force them in but then they're positioned at an odd angle. I had to file some plastic off each plug to get them to fit. The power supply 4-pin plug has the identical problem...too big. It can plug into some IDE drives but not others. The part of the adapter that houses the IDE and SATA connectors is poorly assembled...the connectors are installed into the housing in a incredibly crooked manner, producing the unit look extremely cheap. The SATA and 3.5 IDE appear to function OK, but I can't get the two.five IDE to work. The power supply works OK.
