Very Good Deal!

This offered a seemeless transition of files. In my business, moving files takes time and that costs the custome money. This offered a way to cut costs on both ends and save time. Works very well. |

Not Bad... but

This works as advertised after many attempts to figure it out... poor instructions. I had to rely on a blog to get it to work. |

Works for me
Comment:
I replaced a failing HD and used this to access the old drive (IDE). The only complaint is that it is tough to line up with the pins on the drive, and needs a hard tug to pull it back off. Have used it on several IDE drives and even reformated one while connected to it. A must have as far as I'm concerned. |

Draws too much power
Comment:
I dont think the power adapter is suffice it kept tripping my surge protector. I dont know if i got a bad cable or it is just a poor power design. It worked long enough for me to pull the data off an old drive though. Prob never use it again because of power problems with in the adapter, |

Worked for a month
Comment:
It's a decent product in theory but it only worked for about a month, now it shows up as unrecognized device (when it shows up at all) and from what I have found on message boards this is a common problem. Shipping it back for RMA will cost $9, considering I paid $16.99 for the item (Tiger weekend sale) I don't think it's worth it since Vantec support has already told me I would have to pay shipping every time even if the device failed 10 times in its one year warranty period. |

I bought this product to use on an old CD burner but I also used it on several hard drives from previous computers. It works GREAT! I opened the package and had it hooked up and working within 5 minutes. One of the BEST purchases I've ever made. |

Opened the box, connected it to my old laptop drive, connected it and tranferred all my old files onto my new drive in the laptop. Great investment. Worked great |

Cheap and it works
Comment:
Got this on sale for 20 bucks to salvage some data from my mother-in-law's old 6 GB IDE clunker. I had read that sometimes these type of adapters don't work so I was worried when it took almost 60 seconds for the drive to be recognized the first time, but after that it worked like a charm, no problem at all. Not as cool as a SATA dock, but smaller, easier to put away, and works with IDE. As others have mentioned, lots of pieces and parts - don't lose them. |

GREAT PRODUCT

This thing simply works! Buy it. Wish I would have owned this adapter years ago. A must have for computer builders. You need this in your electronic toolbox. There is no quicker way to access old harddrives. |

The only one I've gotten to work!
Comment:
I've bought several others from online services and could never get them to read. This one WORKS on both SATA and IDE drives. Instead of buying an expensive enclosure drive, I'm buying bare drives to back up hard drives and sticking the backups in a safe place. Cheaper and better than any other backup scheme! |

Great Product, works well

Used it right out of the box to rescue data from a failing laptop hard-drive. No connection issues. LED is great to know its powered up. Shuts off drive when you use the Safely Remove Hardware function. |

Easy to use, great tool
Comment:
I bought this to retrieve information off of old hard drives I have. In the past I'd open up a PC and plug them into a system. With this, I simply plug the provided power supply, adapter and put it in a USB port. I highly recommend this for a tech or anyone who wants to hook up hard drives outside of the box. |

Great for testing drives
Comment:
Tested unit with some old hard drives and it worked great. Good for using old drives for backups too. |
Amazing piece of equipment. Just hook it up to your difficult drive and plug it into your pc's usb input. My personal computer reconized it immediately. I was able to transfer all of my data to my new drive with out having to install the drive in my machine. None so far.
