I bought this since it was the cheapest optical drive I could get my hands on without spending too much. It does what it's supposed to do... However I do not like the colour as it stands out in my case that is red and black themed. A little bit loud but that's fine since I don't use it much other than installing Windows 7. |

The only thing that stands out with this drive is that when powered on, it makes an odd "pshhhhh pshhhhh" sort of sound...something I haven't heard with any other DVD/CD drive I've used. Otherwise, it works exactly as expected. Would recommend when priced lower than $20. |

For a $20 DVD drive, it certainly gets the job done. Very fast, responsive, looks nice in the case, and it feels quality in it's build as well. Writes data quickly. Definitely worth the money. |

Pros:Cheap. Effective. Quiet. Used it to install Windows and other component drivers. Comment:
5-star product. It's a basic drive that does what it's supposed to do. ASUS quality so its hard to knock it down for anything. Stick with the no frills OEM drive. You really don't need anything more. |

Cons:The guys of the unit are made of white plastic, it would have been nice if they used the same plastic through and through.
Pros:Nice and quiet, doesn't make smashing sounds when trying to read a bad disk. I'm 35 DVDs in out of 150 that I need to read back into my HTPC and it is going very well. Comment:
Why spend more? This drive should do anything you need, however, I haven't burned anything with it anymore. |
