Good deal
Comment:
The Nuvi 255W is a good GPS. The only thing is the voice. My old C330 was better. Two speakers on side, while 255w has one on back. Everything else is good. A week after I purchased for $179 it was on sale for $169.

Great bang for your buck
Comment:
This GPS has all the features any regular person would need. Points of interest and text to speech is really all I need. I found the Points of interest to be a little outdated. But in newly developed areas that is expected. Real time Traffic warnings would be nice but it sounds like an expensive feature doesn't it?

Great entry level GPS
Comment:
GPS was easy to use right out of the box, very user friendly. It has been able to find every address I've tried so far. A few of the points of interest have been out of date. The sound quality is very acceptable. It sometimes takes a few minutes to locate the satelites when I enter an address, but it recalibrates quickly if you take a turn other than the suggested route. Overall an excellent buy.

Quite impessed.First GPS so do not have any comparison but found it easy to use, easy to load. Maps were very up to date as daughter moved into brand new subdivision in Lethbridge and directions to her place was on the map. Also, directions were to the shortest way but changed if you made a wrong turn. Would purchase again!

Be Prepared, You just might get what you ask for..

I bought the 255W online and it arrived in two business days. Out of the box, it took 30 seconds to get running. It's my second GPS unit, and my first with a battery. I'd heard horror stories of the maps being years out of date and up to $100 or more for updates. This 'new' units maps are 3 months old. Last weekend, I decided to test it. Fastest route found me driving down what seemed like dried up river beds and across farmers fields. Nothing that wasn't on the map, and I actually gained time on the others that went the 'normal' route but usually drive faster than I. All in all I think it's a fantastic deal, it goes with me everywhere, and the Mrs wants the new one cause it's got the bigger screen. Battery, tested to exhaustion once, about 3.5-4hrs. Startup is quick and 'rerouting' is fast, 3-5secs after route changes. Definately RECOMMENDED! Maybe next one will get ''WT'' for the traffic warnings.

I got mine on Sat. the 13th and it worked great right out of the box. As soon as I got back in the Jeep I hooked it up and we were off to Bass Pro Shops. They had same unit for like $50 more. I only have two complaints #1 the store was very hot inside, use more A/C and #2 my unit has two voices telling me what to do Samantha (unit) and the 9 y.o. old in the back seat repeating everything that the unit says plus anything else she might think is helpful. Will be taking a trip to TN in a couple weeks and we'll see how it does long distance. It was very helpful getting me out of Orlando and back home last night. Wish gas prices would go back down so I could drive more and play with the GPS.

I use this for a little bit of everything. The maps are quick loading and the screen display is excellent. As far as the unit itself goes, I have no complaint's and would buy it again. Points of interest like store, etc. also display the phone number so you use it to see if places are still open before you go there if you running errands. You can use the same feature like directory assistance from home. Things I didn't like: 1. You get no computer sync cable. I found you can use the sync cable to a usb memory card reader. 2. You only get the quick start manual not the full one. You have to go online and download it if you want it. 3. Might be just my computers, but I could not get the Garmin online program to function to download anything (you have to download some of their software) 4. It doesn't come with a case, any case. Even a cheap vinyl one would have been better than nothing to keep it from getting scratched. Like I said, no complaints with the unit itself, the moun

Very Happy

I have no previous knowledge of a GPS. I read alot and asked a lot of questions. I wanted to get a GPS made for motorcycles, but could not afford one. I decided I'd start out with a lower priced unit, so I could decide which features I like and really need. I bought the Nuvi255 online at 3 pm and it was delivered to my office the next morning for $1.99. It was so easy to set up and learn. My friend also bought one and got it the next day. We attached it to the face of our tachometers on our motorcycles. It does not vibrate or come loose. When I road in the rain, I unplugged it, using the battery power and put a ziplock bag down over it. It works GREAT!! We are both really happy not having to stop to look at maps. I would never be without one when traveling!!
